On the weekend I started organising all the newborn clothes, beanies and blankets in the nursery, I like being prepared! Of course I still have some pieces from the other children but I have also picked up some new goodies, simply because I can’t resist myself. One of my favourite things to buy for babies is a gorgeous wrap, I just love a swaddled baby and I think you can never have enough wraps.

You probably know Australian label gr8x from its nappy bag range, but I know many of you haven’t discovered the gr8x wrap collection yet. Gr8x wraps are available in a lovely selection of boys, girls and unisex colours and prints, I doubt you’ll be able to stop at just one. You don’t have to because the wraps are sold in packs of 2 and at just $34.95 they are well priced (great gift idea too!). If I knew I was having a girl I would definitely add this Dizzy Circles Pink design to my hospital bag, very cute.

Each wrap is finished with a matching ribbed trim and rounded corners for a neat and classy look (no ‘pointy’ fabric corners near your baby’s face). The medium weight makes them warm enough for winter and cool enough for summer. You’ll find that you will use your wraps for much more than the bedtime routine, like as an easy cover up for in the pram or car, a quick clean play area for on the floor or even a breastfeeding cover.

Now if you are a swaddler you will be well aware that it is not only the print or the material that makes a perfect wrap, size is very important. There is nothing as annoying as buying a packet of gorgeous wraps only to find you can’t even get them around your newborn once. The gr8x Double Stretch Swaddling Wraps are designed to be super stretchy, the cotton fabric measures 84cm x 90cm yet it stretches to a generous 145cm which is a very good size!

In addition to the Hip little one giveaway below gr8x is also giving you the chance to win gr8x Wrap Prize Packs on the gr8x Facebook Page. Go grab your favourite picture of your wrapped up baby and you might just win!

Nana Clair’s Gifts is a gorgeous online store full of fun, unique and beautiful gifts for kids of all ages, there is something there for everyone. We have already taken a closer look at the Tapikid Playmat range (enter the Nana Clair’s Gifts giveaway for your chance to win one!) but there is so much more cool stuff to look at. Every single item in store is carefully chosen by owner and mum Kelly, meet Kelly in today’s Sunday Coffee:

What does your ideal Sunday look like?
An ideal Sunday to me is waking up at our favourite family camping spot, Lake Cullulleraine (in northern victoria), where we have a hut. The sun would be shining, the birds chirping and the water in the lake looking very inviting (even better now the weather is warming up). Breakfast of course would be bacon and eggs cooked on the BBQ. The kids have a ball when we go camping, keeping busy swimming, fishing, cruising around on their bikes- it’s a great way to spend time as a family

Why did you start Nana Clair’s Gifts?
I started Nana Clair’s Gifts when I was on maternity leave with my second child (Our 3rd is only a couple of weeks away!). I knew I wanted, and needed to, return to work but also liked the idea of being a work from home Mum. I had always wanted to own my own shop, so I took the idea of selling gifts for kids and opened my own online shop- this provides the best of both worlds; I get to have my shop and spend more time at home with the kids. I liked the idea of providing a service particularly for other Mum’s, by providing great priced, quality items and offering free gift wrapping- making buying a present such an easy experience!

What do you like most about running your own store?
One advantage of owning my own on-line store is the fact that I get to spend more time at home with the family while still working. I also get great enjoyment out of gift wrapping the items people have purchased, wrapping them in beautiful paper and packaging the present up knowing it is going to an excited child out there for their birthday or another occasion. I get a lot of emails or Facebook comments from my customers letting me know that the presents were opened with great excitement and loved by their new owners. This feedback is always exciting to receive, and makes all the hard work worth it.

What is your favourite product at Nana Clair’s Gifts (at the moment)?
My favourite item at Nana Clair’s Gifts at the moment is the Wheely Bugs. My 2 yr old has the ‘Pig’ and is getting hours of fun cruising around the house- they really should make them for adults too!! Of course I cannot go past the range of Missi Missi Bean Bags we stock, these are just beautiful, so comfortable and soft and a real hit with the kids.

What can we expect of Nana Clair’s Gifts in the near future?
Hopefully the future will bring a lot more of the same at Nana Clair’s Gifts. As strange as that sounds, the aim is to keep offering a beautiful range of gifts for sale, providing the bonus offer of free gift wrapping, and excellent customer service. With Christmas just around the corner, there will be plenty of specials coming up. I personally love Christmas, it’s such fun time, and I look forward to sharing this special occasion with my customers.

Becoming a real Aussie, my Cold Rock experience

As some of you might know I am not originally from Australia, I moved here just six years ago from The Netherlands to settle down with my Aussie husband. A pretty big move and one I don’t regret, although I do get homesick from time to time (nothing some Dutch food can’t fix). I am afraid kangaroo or vegemite don’t appeal to me much (and what is with the barbecue flavour on everything?), but I do like TimTams! After the week I have had with three sick kids I thought I deserved a little Australian treat so I set off for our very first Cold Rock Ice Creamery experience.

The twins picking their icecream flavours (Easy decision, pink and blue!)

I have always have a soft spot for ice cream and being pregnant I am struggling even more to resist a bowl of cold yummyness. Cold Rock turned out to be much more than ‘just’ ice cream, it is delicious ice cream combined with all your favourite lollies, chocolates and other delights! Yes I probably ate my daily calorie intake in one bowl but it was so good and just what I needed to cheer me up a little. Of course the kids were more than happy to come along with me…

Master 4 and Miss 2 drooling over all the mix-ins (and baby bump in the corner!)

The Cold Rock concept is pretty simple: ‘Choose it, Mix it, Smash it and Love it’. Just pick your favourite ice cream flavour, then select some tasty treats to go in it and they mix it for you on the spot. I think there were at least 30 different ice cream flavours to choose from and around 20 different mix-ins so you can go as crazy as you like. Because I felt very Aussie I went for Aussie Vanilla with TimTams mixed into it, and not to forget Cookie Dough (right now you can get a Cookie Dough mix-in for just $0.50!).

Just in case you didn’t know, Cold Rock is 100% Australian owned and made. As part of the Franchised Food Company there are over 100 Cold Rock stores all over the country run by ordinary Aussies like you and me (yes you could own your own Cold Rock store too, only for people who have a lot of self control!). If you’d like to stay up to date with the latest Cold Rock news and specials make sure you ‘like’ the Cold Rock Ice Creamery Facebook page.

Now that I am 23 weeks pregnant it is becoming much easier to feel the baby move, for me but also for hubby and the other kids. The twins are often trying to feel the baby’s little kicks and rolls with their tiny hands, sometimes they claim to feel movement that wasn’t there but that doesn’t spoil their excitement. I wonder if the baby will recognise all these little voices that talked to him/her all the time through my tummy?

Research has shown that babies are able to recognise and remember familiar voices and sounds they were exposed to when in the womb, you can start creating those early memories from as early as 20 weeks. How special would it be to see your newborn respond to your favourite CD or a nursery rhyme daddy used to sing during the pregnancy? Bellybuds gives expecting parents a helping hand with their cleverly designed ‘bellyphones’, allowing you to play music to your baby hands-free.

To get started simply plug your Bellybuds into any standard digital music player and place the two round bellyphones on your bump using the skinsafe, form-fitting hydrogel adhesive rings. Now you are ready to play your favourite nursery rhyme, your most loved CD, a classical tune or a voice recording from dad or grandparents, or why not make your own personal baby play list?

Bellybuds kit ($49) contains everything you need (except for the digital music player of course) including an audio splitter so mum can listen to the sound at the same time as the baby. Bellybuds ‘bellyphones’ are discreet and compact, so you can wear them under your normal clothes and still do your regular activities, although personally I like the sound of a relaxing lay-down with baby on the couch a lot more!

To find out more about Bellybuds, to locate a stockist near you or to order online visit www.bellybuds.com.au.

For your chance to win 1 of 3 Bellybuds visit www.bellybuds.com.au and answer the following question: What would you play to your unborn baby using Bellybuds?
