Christmas (or in our case Sinterklaas) may still be a few months away but that hasn’t stopped our children from starting on their wish lists already. The favourite gift idea this year seems to be a new pet: a puppy, a kitten, a rabbit, as long as it’s furry they want it. To help the kids understand that pets are a big responsibility we have been reading this gorgeous picture book by Bondi Vet Dr. Lisa Chimes:

My First Puppy

Written by a real vet My First Puppy is a sweet, colourful storybook for young children, teaching them all they need to know about getting ready for, owning and caring for a new pet. Join Sam and his family as they do their research and bring home a small, white puppy called Ralph.

My First Puppy Book

What do you need to buy to properly prepare for a new puppy? Where do puppies sleep? What do they eat? How do you keep them healthy and clean? There is lots to learn for Sam but the special relationship he is building with Ralph is one for life and absolutely worth it.
