Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Back in 2007 the world was first introduced to Diary of a Wimpy Kid, now six years and eight titles later the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid book series is more popular than ever with more than 3 million copies sold in Australia alone. Talented author Jeff Kinney has proven that even reluctant readers are keen to get stuck into a book as long as they feel connected to the story and it comes with lots of humour, and you have to admit: We’ve all felt like a wimpy kid sometimes!

Wimpy Kid Hard LuckFans worldwide have been counting down the days and this month it was finally time for the big reveal, the eighth and latest addition to the series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, has been released and people are going crazy for it. In Hard Luck Greg is not too thrilled to lose his best friend Rowley… to a GIRL. Now that Abigail is in the picture their friendship is not what it used to be and Greg is not impressed by the changes. Cool bud Rowley no longer exists, it’s ‘Rowligail’ now.

Hard Luck 1

As we all know everyone needs a good friend to walk to school with, to help you with your homework and to sit next to during lunch. It’s time for Greg to find a new mate but that is not as easy as it sounds, even the Find-a-Friend Station in the playground doesn’t bring in any good candidates. Join Greg on his quest for a friend, become part of the Heffley family, see what the cool (and not so cool) kids get up to at school and, most importantly, get ready for lots of laughs.

Hard Luck 2

Because our kids are yet to start school I had never actually read a Wimpy Kid book myself, but after seeing a few sneak peeks here and there I immediately got why children and teens can’t get enough of these hilarious diaries. When kids open a Wimpy Kid book it doesn’t ‘feel’ like a book at all, it’s a unique combination of funny illustrations and short commentary describing the day-to-day life of ordinary teenagers just like them. Priced at just $14.99 (paperback) or $17.99 (hardback) the Wimpy Kid books are the perfect stocking filler for that hard-to-buy-for tween or teen, especially those who are usually not too keen on reading.
