This Sunday we are sitting down for a quick cup of coffee with the fresh new face of Avidiva, mum Jamie. Jamie recently took over from the lovely Cass and has been very busy making Avidiva her own. I have already some of Avidiva’s exciting new arrivals and there is more to come…
What does your ideal Sunday look like?
Sleeping in til lunchtime – well, I can dream and reminisce about those by gone days can’t I?!
Nowadays my ideal Sunday entails snuggling in bed with my hubby and my cheeky 2 year old monkey, reading books and singing nursery rhymes. After treating ourselves to a cooked breakfast, we like to do something fun as a family such as heading down to the beach for a swim and an to attempt to catch a fish, bike riding around the river or having a picnic at the park.
What do you like most about running Avidiva?
The flexibility and the opportunity it provides to me to maintain a good balance between working, being a full time mum and having something for “me”. I was working outside last month when I issued the first e-newsletter. In celebration, I poured myself a glass of wine and while I was basking in the sunshine, I thought “This is the life – I could get use to this!”. I felt content and had the sensation of wishing for nothing! I certainly don’t miss the commute to and from the city and sitting in a windowless office.
What did you do before you started Avidiva?
I use to be a commercial business banker prior to travelling overseas and settling back home to have babies. Whilst traveling I tried my hand at being an advertising executive for a newspaper and as a manager for a retail store. My favourite job was being part of the management team of a shopping centre. I assisted with the day to day running of the centre, marketing, promotional events and much more including giving a helping hand to Santa at Christmastime with writing reply letters to the local children who pinned their wish lists to the Christmas Tree. I found it to be such a fun and rewarding job.
What is your favourite Avidiva product?
My favourite Avidiva product is my son’s Lelbys Bean Chair. This was the first item I bought from Avidiva for my little man’s first birthday, long before taking Avidiva on board. I love it’s unique design and not only is it lovely to look at with it’s gorgeous bluebell garden pattern, but it is so durable and comfortable to sit on. Another favourite is the I’m Toy Cow Wooden Ride On. This was a gift for my son from his grandparents and when I bought Avidiva, adding this range to the store was at the top of my list. It is beautifully made and one of his most favourite toys.
What can we expect of Avidiva in the near future?
There will be a variety of new ranges joining us. Including beautiful homemade clothing, skincare and goodies from local Perth designers and some new “Avidiva” branded ones too.
