We all know that sometimes it takes a while for dreams to come true and that’s definitely the case in the Woddlers ‘I Dream Of’ competition. Last year I told you all about this fantastic initiative by Woddlers owner Meegan Cassell, inviting Australian kids to design their very own Woddlers backpack and raising money for the wonderful Starlight Foundation at the same time. Well the winners have been chosen, the Woddlers design team has been busy creating the winning backpacks and now the time has finally come to unveil this special, and very meaningful, collection:

Woddlers Fairy

The Woddlers ‘I Dream Of’ collection consists of three boys designs and three girls designs, all styles are available as a lunchbox ($29.95), toddler backpack ($39.95) and kinder backpack ($49.95). Featuring a fairy, unicorn and ballerina for the girls and an astronaut, pirate and robot for the boys the range has all little kids’ dreams covered. My personal favourite is the fairy, which design would your child like most?

Woddler Toddler BackpackWoddlers Toddler Backpacks are designed with little adventurers in mind, big enough for a change of clothes, lunch and a drink bottle they are the perfect companion for daycare or a day at grandma’s without being too heavy or bulky. Woddler backpacks are 100% PVC free and made of strong nylon for extra durability. The wide shoulder straps are adjustable so you can create the right fit for your child and change them as he/she grows.

Woddlers Kinder BackpackJust like the name suggests the new Woddlers Kinder Backpacks are a little bigger in size than their toddler sibling. Not only are they taller and wider so they offer more internal storage, they also have an extra pocket at the front. The carry handle makes it easy for kids to hang their bag up in their locker and thanks to the mesh side pocket they can keep their drink bottle easily accessible and safely away from school books and home work in the main storage compartment.

Woddlers Lunchbox AstronautTeam up your new I Dream Of backpack with a matching insulated Woddlers Lunchbox for the ultimate Woddlers look, they look gorgeous together and it makes it easy for children to recognise their belongings. Just like the backpacks these cute lunch boxes have a stitched on name label, you wouldn’t want to lose your stylish new bag or lunchbox! Woddlers lunch boxes have a waterproof and food safe inner so you can just wipe them clean after lunch.

Bonus: To make room for the new I Dream Of arrivals the original Woddlers Animal range has been reduced by a massive 50%, now is the perfect time to grab a bargain and stock up for your next birthday party or Christmas.

Woddlers is getting bigger

Two-and-a-half days a week my two big kids go to kindy, on their backs a cute Woddlers backpack filled with water bottle, fruit/snack, lunch and a hat. Now that winter has arrived they also need to bring their winter jacket, as they grow their lunches are getting bigger and I haven’t even started about all the art and craft they are bringing home. Soon it won’t all fit in their backpacks anymore but that is not a worry as Woddlers grows with your child. Kids start with the Toddler Backpack and as they grow they can upsize to the Kinder Backpack.

birdyThe Woddlers Kinder Backpack ($42.95) is currently available in Cheeky Little Monkey and Pretty Bird design and new styles are due later this year. At almost 40cm high this is a great size backpack with three large zip compartments, plenty of room for all those kindy essentials or sleepover must-haves. The handy mesh pocket on the side keeps the drink bottle within reach and away from other things inside so it all stays nice and dry.

Just like its smaller siblings the Woddlers Kinder Backpacks are free from PVC and made with strong durable nylon that can handle a little pulling and throwing (my kids have put it to the test!). Kids should have no trouble recognising their gorgeous backpack in between all the others at kindy or daycare, but to be sure they are designed with a name tag too.

Mary JayneIt is not just the backpack range that is growing, the popular shoe range is growing too. The brand new Woddlers Classics range has only just been released and is already winning hearts all over the country. The timeless Mary Jayne and Boston Boot designs are available in a range of colours and go with any outfit, these gorgeous Purple Mary Jayne Flexi Sole shoes ($49.95) are my favourite for sure.

The new 'Flexi Sole' is truly flexibleFeaturing beautifully soft eco friendly leather, sourced from Australia and New Zealand, and a flexible non-slip sole the Woddlers Classics are perfect for those first wobbly steps. The new flexi sole is a little harder than the original soft sole but still able to bend and twist just like chubby baby feet. The Boston Boot has elasticised sides while the Mary Jayne closes with a buckle and you can rest assured, both Woddlers styles are designed to stay put.

While you are browsing the Woddlers website make sure you check out the ‘Design a Backpack’ competition. There are some amazing prizes up for grabs and you are supporting the Starlight Children’s Foundation at the same time, every cent counts!

Make a dream come true with Woddlers

A little while ago I wrote about the amazing work the Starlight Children’s Foundation does by making the wishes of seriously ill children in Australia come true and what a difference your support can make. I am really excited to share with you the huge project our beautiful friends at Woddlers have been working on to raise money and awareness for this great cause and the best part is that you can join in too, in fact, we NEED you to make it a huge success!

On April 1, 2013, Woddlers in direct partnership with the Starlight Foundation will launch the ‘Design-a-Backpack’ competition and all Australian kids under 12 are invited to enter. If your backpack design is chosen you will get to work with the Woddlers cartoonist to bring your own unique backpack to life. How exciting is that, your design could be for sale in stores all over Australia as part of the new ‘I dream of…’ Woddlers range due in August!

To enter the competition entrants will have to make a donation to the Starlight Foundation, what a great opportunity to teach your children about caring for others and about making a difference in someone’s life. These donations plus ALL funds raised by the sales of the two ‘winning backpacks’ will go directly to the Starlight Foundation. The ultimate goal of the event is to be able to grant 4 Starlight wishes, which equals $24,000.

Many generous sponsors are joining forces to spread the word about this great event and they have offered amazing prizes valued at $4000+ for the winners of the Design-a-Backpack competition. Special thanks goes to the awesome Brisbane Kids for being major sponsor, you guys rock!

Make sure you are a part of this fantastic initiative by spreading the word and entering the competition via www.woddlers.com.au. Give the Woddlers Facebook page the big thumbs up to stay up-to-date with the latest news, all will be revealed on Monday.

Every time I bring my twins to kindy I can’t help but adore those two beautiful children, walking hand in hand like best buddies. They look so gorgeous with their matching Woddlers backpacks and when I offer to carry their backpacks for them they usually say no because they love them so much. We always get lots of compliments about their backpacks so I thought I’d introduce you to the talented mama behind this Australian brand. Meet Meegan in today’s Sunday Coffee:

What does your ideal Sunday look like?
An ideal sunday would be to sleep in, have a great family breakfast at Williamstown with the sun shining, before heading off for a long walk by the beach with the children and a relaxing afternoon in the swimming pool.
In reality that never happens especially with Melbourne’s weather. With a 2 year old, a newborn and 2 businesses our house is more organised chaos on a Sunday. One watches the children while the other takes phone calls and checks emails before we swap roles. It’s not uncommon for us all to get in the car for a “family Sunday drive” but straight to the building sites so my partner can check the status of his work also. We do however love making pancakes for Miss 2 and she in turn loves trying to help pack Woddlers orders.

Why did you start Woddlers?
I had just given birth to Indiana (now 2) and I still wanted a job that was flexible without affecting the running of the home and our family business (www.navbuild.com.au). After noticing I couldnt find shoes for little Miss that were made from non-toxic materials and made with eco manufacturing techniques in mind I decided that building a range and working for myself was the best option. Woddlers was meant to be a small “at the markets” role on the weekends which has quickly turned into a full time job, expanding ranges and a team of staff to assist me.

How did you decide on the name Woddlers?
Now this credit has to go to my brother – Thank you James Cassell! I literally sent him a text with my idea one day and asked that if he had a great name to go with it feel free to pass it along. He is the creative one when it comes to unique, different ideas and I’m sure he now wants legal rights to say this name is his (laughs) Actually it was all his contacts that made Woddlers the sucessful brand it is today. From my website designer, to my cartoonist, to the unique name- my brother has been an amazing support and Im grateful to have had his input.

What is (currently) your favourite Woddlers design and why?
I love the newest addition to the Woddlers backpacks collection- Pretty Bird!! It is available in the Toddler backpack, Lunchbox and the Big Kinder Backpack I love the colours – not all little girls love pink and I wanted to make something a little different yet still girly, I think Pretty Bird hits that mark. If I had to choose a boy style then Cheeky Monkey would win, his neutral colours have been a great gift to all our family and friends with children.

What can we expect of Woddlers in the near future?
Woddlers is expanding rapidly. We recently introduced 4 new backpacks and lunchboxes to the range plus a New Big Kinder backpack style.
We have new suitcases launching next year, along with drink bottles, neck pillows and more Big Kinder backpacks colours. The range has been embraced really well by mums and little ones across Australia. I think this is partly due to the fact Woddlers has a unique look compared to others on the market. We also ensure our backpacks and lunchboxes are PVC free, Lead safe and made with the environment in mind which is a great bonus to mums buying gifts for their children.

Aug 202012

Last Thursday it was finally time for my beautiful twins to start kindy. They had been looking forward to it for as long as I can remember and ‘school’ didn’t disappoint, they loved it! A little while ago I started talking to them about kindy, took them there for a visit and each of them got a gorgeous new Woddlers backpack to take along on this big adventure.

At Australian label Woddlers they know exactly what little ones like so they have created a range of children’s products with an appealing look and of course the great quality that parents demand. Within the range you’ll find backpacks and lunchboxes, soft soled baby shoes and a brand new personalised cushion collection. Parents are loving the Woddlers style with the brand now available in over 60 stores nationwide.

I had meant to put the backpacks away until the first day of kindy but our holiday fell just before so they got to take them as carry-on luggage on the plane and on our days out. I can confirm they have had an intense workout the past 5 weeks and have survived it all. The backpacks were comfortable to carry on little shoulders, held loads of toys, books, snacks and drinks and were very easy to open en close for small hands. Here’s the adorable Olive the Owl Backpack in action at the airport.

There are currently 10 different backpacks designs to choose from and the matching Woddlers lunchboxes are just as cute (they make a lovely set!). Just like the backpacks they are made with a strong, durable nylon outer, feature a sweet embroidered print and name tag and of course they are PVC free so they are safe as well. The insulated inner will keep those tasty snacks or lunch at the right temperature.
