Christmas Countdown – Day 12

As a mum of five little ones I know very well that a proper, good quality, durable mattress takes a big chunk out of your family budget, so it is not something you want to have to replace often. Adults are (usually) quite good at keeping their mattresses clean but for children that is a big ask, we all know accidents happen and there is nothing you can do to prevent them. If you have ever tried to clean, scrub and deodorize a mattress you know it ruins your mood, takes ages and after all that it never becomes 100% clean again. Here’s the good news, there is hope!

Australian mattress specialist BedGuard takes the hassle out of a wet bed with an innovative waterproof mattress range that keeps little (and big) sleepyheads comfortable, clean and dry all night long.

Designed to stop liquids, stains and odours from ruining your mattress the unique BedGuard protection layer is guaranteed to keep nasties at bay, in case of accidents just use some paper towel to remove the spill and your mattress is fresh, clean and dry again. No more sleeping on crunchy, sticky, plastic mattress protectors, no more scrubbing, no soda-treatment, no yucky yellow stains and no sneaky odours hanging around, what a fantastic time (and irritation) saver for busy parents!

Aside from repelling liquid, odours and stains BedGuard mattresses have many other great features that make them a family favourite. The anti-dust mite, anti-bacterial, bed bug resistant and flame retardant properties give parents peace of mind, they can sleep well knowing their child is safe and comfortable at all times. All BedGuard mattresses are double sided and filled with above industry standard foam density and high quality inner springs ensuring a comfortable night sleep.

BedGuard is an Australian family business and all products are designed and made right here in Australia using high quality materials. Being Australian made you can rest assured that the manufacturing process is closely monitored from start to finish to supply Aussie families with an outstanding product that they can enjoy for years. BedGuard mattresses have a life expectancy of 10 years and come with a generous 5 year guarantee.

Within the BedGuard mattress range you’ll find three different types of waterproof mattresses (Guardian Comfort, Guardian Luxury and Guardian Opulence) to suit beds of all sizes, from your baby’s cot to a large king size bed BedGuard has the whole family covered. Prices start at $198 (cot size) and delivery costs depend on your location.

Before our children were born I could easily spend a few hours in the bath, reading a good book surrounded by bubbles and thoroughly washing my hair, shaving my legs, enjoying a relaxing face mask and painting my toe nails. Those days have long gone and now I am happy with a quick five minute shower in the evening after a long day, showering on your own is a luxury when you’re a parent! The reoccurring task of shaving takes up time I’d rather spend on other things, so I decided to turn to Remington for a more time-efficient solution:

Remington Smooth & Silky

The Remington Smooth & Silky Cordless Wet/Dry Epilator ($99.95) is designed for quick and easy hair removal that leaves your skin ‘smooth & silky’, just the way I like it! Fitted with 40 stainless steel tweezers the Smooth & Silky effortlessly removes unwanted hair by the root, which means it will take longer for hair to grow back and you get to savour that smooth skin for longer too. Even the shortest 0.5mm hairs prove no problem and the built-in precision light will make sure no hair is missed.

Remington Smooth & Silky Epilator HeadOne of the features that makes this Remington Epilator a real standout is the fact that it is cordless so you can use it anywhere and anytime, even on holiday! Within 4 hours it is fully charged and it has a cordless usage time of (up to) 40 minutes, plenty of time to tackle your hairy legs, underarms and any other prickly areas. The whole handheld unit is 100% waterproof so you can safely use it in the shower as part of your bathing routine.

Remington Smooth & Silky Shaver HeadThe Remington Smooth & Silky comes complete with a range of accessories: 2 heads (one epilator head, one shaver head), 3 washable attachment caps (precision cap for smaller areas and facial detailing, massage cap with soothing Aloe Vera and bikini comb cap), exfoliating glove, cleaning brush and storage bag. These handy add-ons make this an extremely versatile product that will not only save you time but money too as it removes the need for razor blades and shaving cream.

I won’t lie, the first time you use the Remington Smooth & Silky you may need to bite your teeth while you get used to the pulling sensation but that soon passes and the next time you’ll hardly feel a thing. The epilator is easy to hold and move around and the pivoting head follows the contours of your body really well. My own little test (yes, I really shaved one leg and epilated the other) showed that once you have established a good cycle and all hairs have been epilated at least once you can go roughly three to even four weeks without epilating (unlike shaving!!). In my opinion fewer hairs grow back and they become easier to remove too. I am really pleased with the result and love how time efficient it is, so much more rewarding than shaving your legs knowing you have to do it again next week and the week after.

As a loyal Remington user I know I can count on Remington for great quality, durable products that are backed up by an excellent warranty. The Remington Smooth & Silky comes with a reassuring 30 day money back guarantee and a huge 2 year warranty.

There’s no avoiding it now, Autumn is here and it is cold! While I am looking forward to sitting in front of the warm fireplace the kids don’t mind the cold and they love being outside. If your kids are the outdoor type too they are going to need a good pair of gumboots to keep those little feet toasty. Check out these adorable Timber & Tamber gumboots from Appleseed Lane:

Last week we spent four days in a holiday house near the beach and we had a fantastic time, the kids were so sad to leave as they loved going to the beach. Luckily we had beautiful weather and although it was too cold to swim they had a ball looking for shells and building sand castles with their Opa and Oma (grandparents) who came all the way from Holland. It was the first taste of sand and water for the baby and she absolutely loved it, by the time it is summer I doubt she will get out of the water unless I drag her out! To make sure she doesn’t get cold I might need a Konfidence Babywarma.

The Babywarma ($31.95) is designed to keep your baby warm (I am sure that doesn’t surprise you). It is like a mini wetsuit for little people, made of soft neoprene fabric that feels comfortable and snug whilst keeping out the chills. Babywarma’s are available in three sizes (2-7kg, 7-12kg and 12-16kg+) to guarantee a proper fit for your baby. The two smaller sizes are a handy wraparound style to make (un)dressing and nappy changes a breeze, even the shoulder straps are adjustable!

For older kids up to 7 years old there is the Kids Warma ($34.95) with choice of three sizes and five different colours to suit boys and girls. Both the Babywarma and Kids Warma can be worn in combination with a long sleeve UV rashie for extra protection when worn outside. Children often have so much fun they stay in the water even if they are getting cold and their lips turn blue, the Konfidence kids wet suits will help them to stay warm.

If you are a bit nervous about small kids and water (I know I am!) you will appreciate these cute blue and pink stripe float suits ($39.95). The 8 removable floats will help to keep your child safe and provide him/her with added confidence as they learn to swim, they also provide parents with peace of mind. As the confidence grows the floats can be removed to suit your indepent little swimmer.
