Like many other mums I hardly ever go shopping for myself, usually I just happen to bump into one or two pieces when out doing errands or shopping for the kids. Sometimes I am lucky and when I try them on at home they fit really well, other times I regret not taking some more time to try before I buy or spending a bit more and get something I am truly happy with.

About 3-4 years ago, on one of those quick visits to Target with the kids, I grabbed myself two of these plain tank tops in white and black. I figured that they would be great to wear under other tops, the extra length covers everything neatly and at just $12 a piece I didn’t expect much else. Three days later I sent hubby in to grab me another three, I loved them so much that I did not want to risk being without, ever. Since then I have bought this top in 6 or 7 different colours, they still sell them and I buy some new ones every season in the latest colours. Best. Buy. Ever.

On the weekend I came past Target so I decided to go in and check if they had some new colours in. They sure did (and they had 30% off all ladies fashion so I was in luck) and they were also unpacking the latest ladies footwear. The sunny weather got me all excited about all those stylish wedges but as I will be sporting a big baby belly this summer I checked out the new (safer) ballet flats instead.

If you know me personally you will know that I have a habit of buying things in more than one colour, I just can’t help myself! When I find something I like I usually really like it and need a colour for every outfit. Luckily Target is always very affordable so the extra pair doesn’t make a huge dent in the budget. In the end I decided to go with only the St Tropez navy stripe ballet flats (perfect with jeans), after all I did have hip daddy with me to push the brakes.

As you can see my little tribe was very keen to help me with the shoe shopping but after three pairs they were getting slightly impatient. I thought this might be the end of mummy’s shopping (it usually goes like that, I have to be done in 5 minutes or go home empty handed) but I spotted a really nice kids area next to the footwear department. Cute small (and clean) kids tables with lots of paper and pencils, a real sanity saver! Have a look at your next Target visit because your local store might have a kids area too.
