People often tell me that I have my hands full with such a big family and that’s exactly how I like it, unless of course one of my hands is bandaged up and out of action like it is today… After undergoing wrist surgery yesterday I won’t be able to use my hand for a few weeks, not easy when you are right handed! Luckily I have Hip Daddy home to look after me and the rest of the family, allowing me to properly rest up and recover (if it wasn’t for the pain this almost sounds like a holiday!).

Jergens Ultra HealingTo make sure the skin on my hands and arm doesn’t dry out during my recovery I will be smearing religiously with a nourishing moisturiser for extra dry skin. I first tried Jergens ‘Ultra Healing’ a few weeks ago after I burnt my hand on the fireplace and it really helped soothe and heal my skin quickly. My hands felt super soft and within no time the damaged layers were replaced by smooth, healthy skin.

Say goodbye to dry, tired skin and give it some much needed TLC with Jergens ‘Ultra Healing’ (from RRP $5.99 – $12.99). Packed with important vitamins C, E and B5 as well as a unique illuminating Hydralucence blend this luxurious moisturiser is clinically proven to repair dry, cracked skin, including famous trouble areas like heels, elbows and knees. Not only is it absorbed quickly (great for busy mums like me), results are visibly quickly too.

Jergens Moisturisers

From the top of your head to the tips of your toes, Jergens is all about soft, smooth skin that is healthy and radiant. For a bit of extra glow there is even a dedicated Jergens ‘Natural Glow’ collection that adds a natural-looking colour to your skin, perfect for beating that pale, white winter skin.

You can find the Jergens range at your local Priceline pharmacy.

Michelle Bridges formulated Blackmores

Many mums will know her from the famous 12WBT (12 Week Body Transformation) and most of us have seen her in action on The Biggest Loser, whipping unfit Aussies back into shape. What you may not know is that well known personal trainer Michelle Bridges has recently teamed up with Blackmores to develop a fantastic range of vitamin and mineral supplements and naturally-sourced protein products to complement a balanced diet and support health and wellbeing, after all, even if you try to live as healthy as you can there is often room for improvement.

The Michelle Bridges formulated by Blackmores range contains 10 premium quality protein powders and snacks, whole food powders and nutritional supplements that are healthy, convenient and full of natural goodness:

Michelle Bridges Protein Blend ChocolateThe product that first caught my eye is the Protein Blend with Ancient Grains ($39.99, 350g), available in vanilla and chocolate flavour. Protein shakes are extremely popular at the moment because they are so convenient, but unlike most other protein shakes this vegan protein blend has the added benefit of ancient grains including organic oat Bran, organic quinoa, organic chia and more as well as all the key amino acids.

Simply combine the powder with water, skim milk or a milk alternative, shake and go, so easy! I drink mine with almond milk as a quick breakfast, it is really thick, almost creamy, and gives a full feeling so it’s a good start to the day. Bonus: The Protein Blend with Ancient Grains is even suitable for those who are sensitive to whey and soy.

Chia and Organic Linseed SprinkleYou only need two teaspoons of it but this Chia & Organic Linseed Breakfast Sprinkle ($14.99, 200g) will make a huge difference to your daily bowl of cereal, yoghurt or porridge. This little add-on contains organic linseeds, organic sunflower kernels, organic almonds and chia seeds, it is really yummy and it’s full of omega-3, protein, dietary fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Another simple way to add this into your diet is by adding it to your next batch of muffins, cake or cookies.

Cherry Coconut Protein BitesFor me one of my biggest downfalls is snacks, as a busy mum it is so easy to grab something quick and (unfortunately) often unhealthy to keep you going. These low carb Cherry Coconut Protein Bites ($2.99, 30g) are just as convenient, they taste delicious and natural and one sachet equates to one serve so it’s a fantastic option for those who struggle with portion control. Yay for a little snack without the guilty feeling!

Vitality Greens Body BoostIf you prefer a smoothie, juice or shake as a speedy pick-me-up Blackmores has got you covered too with the Vitality Reds Body Boost and the Vitality Greens Body Boost ($19.99, 100g). Grab 100-200ml of water or juice, add 5g of powder and you’re good to go. Using Michelle a blend of berries and superfruits goji, pomegranate, acai and mangosteen (reds, my favourite) or green vegetables powders, grasses, sprouts and fruits (greens) you can be sure you’re drinking nothing but nutrients. With 20 servings per sachet this is a really great value product.

Puremega Wild Salmon OilIn addition to the protein and whole foods the range also offers four different vitamin supplements to complement your busy lifestyle: a broad spectrum Multivitamin ($19.99, 30 tablets), Relax and Unwind ($24.99, 30 tablets) to help you calm and relax, Puremega Wild Salmon Oil ($19.99, 60 tablets) for your daily dose of Omega 3 and ImmuneCare ($19.99, 90g) to support natural healthy immune function, wound healing and tissue repair. Which one do you need most?

Isn’t it amazing how much a little bit of a sleep-in can do for your energy levels? I have really been looking forward to this long weekend, I love spending time as a family and my lovely husband even let me have a sleep-in yesterday morning so that was a great start to the Easter break. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my four little ones but it is hard work!

Alive_Womens_60s_3As a mum of four I sometimes (read: often) wake up feeling ‘more dead than alive’ so I take a good multivitamin to give me the much needed energy to get through the day (believe me, I need it when I’ve been up all night with an unhappy newborn). At Blackmores they understand that most women lead a busy lifestyle and we all have our flat moments, which is why they have developed a complete multivitamin that contains all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes you need to feel alive.

The Blackmores Alive! Women’s Multivitamin does more than just help restore your energy levels, it also contains important antioxidants for healthy skin and key nutrients for a healthy immune system, healthy brain performance and healthy bones and muscles. It will also support your metabolism and give your system a little boost in times of stress. With just one tablet a day Blackmores Alive! has got all these important factors covered, no wonder it makes you feel more alive!

AliveWomens60s503Because your body, needs and lifestyle (usually) change as you get older there is a special Blackmores Alive! Multivitamin for women over 50. Of course women are not the only ones who sometimes wake up feeling far from energetic (ask my husband who keeps me company during the night feeds) so the men can count on Alive! Men’s Multivitamin and Alive! Men’s 50+ Multivitamin for daily support.

UntitledTo help one lucky Hip little one reader feel extra alive we are giving away a fabulous Blackmores Alive! Prize Pack valued at $250+. Our lucky winner will receive the following prizes: 4 bottles of Blackmores Alive! With three small children sickness tends to hang around for quite some time, normally they are not that good at sharing but of course they don’t mind passing on the germs. Of course I want them to get better as soon as possible and I know vitamines play an important part in that process so how do you make sure their intake is up to scratch when they are refusing to eat anything that looks healthy?

When I attended the Bloggers Brunch back in July I was lucky enough to meet a very helpful Blackmores employee who told me her kids happily helped themselves to the Blackmores Kids Multi and Kids Fruity Fishies jars every morning. At the time I had my serious doubts, because from all I know tablets and capsules are everything but pleasant to swallow and as a child I couldn’t run away fast enough at the sight of them. Now two months later I have to agree with her statement, my kids have taken to their daily dose of vitamins with ease and actually ask for it themselves.

Their top pick is the Blackmores Kids Fruity Fishies ($16.45 per 30), a chewable fish oil capsule that supports healthy brain development and helps maintain normal eye function and learning in children. I alternate two Blackmores products for kids but they always try their luck and ask for the ‘orange fishies’ first, it is obvious they really like the natural raspberry-orange flavour. The sweet smell did make me run to check the packaging for added sugar but no artificial sweeteners have been added.

On the other days they get the Blackmores Kids Multi ($14.95 per 60) containing 18 essential nutrients to support healthy growth and development. The Kids Multi tablets are developed to supplement the gaps in important vitamins and minerals that may result from fussy eating, something many parents worry about especially if children are/have been unwell. The yummy strawberry vanilla flavour appeals to even the fussiest eater!

With the twins starting school next year the Kids Mineral Minds ($16.45 per 60) could be very helpful. This mineral formula supports healthy brain development, learning and concentration in children, if these tablets make my children concentrate on listening to me a bit better I will start them on the Kids Mineral Minds tablets today! Some of the contents are iodine which is necessary for IQ development and several minerals necessary for school performance.

Especially for one lucky Hip little one reader the Blackmores team has put together a fantastic kids prize pack valued at $83.85, which consists of the Blackmores Kids Fruity Fishies, Kids Mineral Minds and Kids Multi as well as the Feeding Fussy Kids book by Antonia Kidman & Julie Maree Wood. The book is filled with recipes, ideas, tips, tricks and strategies to boost the nutrition of your fussy child as well as help them overcome their pickiness.

For your chance to win this fabulous Blackmores Prize Pack visit www.blackmores.com.au and answer the following question: Aside from the children’s range Blackmores has many products for adults too, name two of Blackmores products for adults you have tried or would like to try.
