While waiting for an overdue baby was not exactly what I had expected there is an upside to everything, in this case the delayed paternity leave allows Hip Daddy to spend some of the school holidays with us at home! We all love having daddy around and it will make holiday outings a lot more fun (and of course easy). The kids are also hanging out to watch the newly released Despicable Me 3, which I will keep tucked away for a rainy afternoon:

Seeing the original Despicable Me at the cinema is still one of my kids’ favourite movie moments, the whole family loved it and we still watch it regularly. Its sequel was another big hit so I have no doubt Despicable Me 3 will live up to our expectations and deliver plenty of laughs.

If you fell in love with hilarious villain Gru you are in for a treat, as Despicable Me 3 doubles the giggles (and adventure) with the surprise arrival of Gru’s twin brother Dru. Gru’s lovely wife Lucy and his three adopted daughters Agnes, Margo and Edith generally keep Gru on the right track, but with brother Dru on the scene Gru is rediscovering just how much fun it is to be bad again.

Add to the mix a bunch of cheeky minions, sneaky disguises, clever thefts, last-minute rescues, friends, enemies and the beginning of a family bond, Despicable Me 3 promises to be full of action and adventure.

‘Despicable Me 3’ is now available on Blu-ray (RRP $44.95) and DVD (RRP $39.95) at all good retail stores across Australia.

One quick look at the weather forecast and it’s clear that we’re in for a cold, wet and rainy Easter break. While this yucky Autumn weather throws a spanner in the works for some of the fun outdoor stuff we had planned I am sure we’ll come up with plenty of indoor activities the kids will love. A spot of baking, a bit of making, a new book and… look:

As a mum of four little girls (and a boy) I am regularly treated to a mind-blowing (and sometimes also quite hilarious) dancing performance in our living room. They spin and they twirl, they jump and they bow, they are going to love the newly released family movie Ballerina.

In Ballerina we meet a lovely French orphan girl called Félicie who wants nothing more than to become a ballerina. It seems an impossible dream until she flees for Paris where she passes for someone else and accedes to the position of pupil at the Grand Opera House. Felicia’s inspiring journey through France and her dedication and determination to maker her biggest dream come true are absolutely heartwarming, what a great way to teach children to never give up!

‘Ballerina’ is now available on Blu-ray (RRP $44.95) and DVD (RRP $39.95) at all good retail stores across Australia.

Lego Friends

A quick look at the calendar shows that Winter Solstice (the day of the year that has the least daylight hours of any in the year) is just a few days away and I sure am feeling it. It’s going to be one cold and dark weekend so we’ll be snuggling up inside with the wood heater burning and a nice movie on. If you’re looking for a fun and adventurous movie for the kids you’ll love this new LEGO Friends release:

Lego Friends DVD

Loveable LEGO friends Olivia, Emma, Andrea, Mia and Stephanie have teamed up for two brand new adventures in LEGO Friends: Keepin’ It Real & Roomies. Come join these giggly girlfriends as they learn all about clever thinking, honesty, working together, determination and friendship:

In Keeping’ It Real the LEGO girls are in desperate need of an amazing project or their ‘What’s At Heart’ webcast will be cancelled. A super cool ‘rockumentary’ about Livi, Heartlake City’s own mega-pop star, could be just the showstopper they are looking for. Sadly it is not all that simple and after a few mishaps from the girls Livi’s future as a pop star is on the line. It’s time to focus on what’s really important and work as a team to rescue Livi’s career and get their webcast in the air.

A whole week of room sharing with your biggest enemy, there is no way Lego Friend Stephanie will happily spend  7 days with Tanya. Stephanie immediately gets her thinking cap on, determined to do everything possible to close the door on her unwanted guest. Unfortunately her mission ends with tears as Tanya gets injured and Stephanie’s guilty conscience sees her looking after the poor patient. But is Tanya sad and sore or is she super sneaky? In Roomies the LEGO Friends bundle the powers and set out to uncover the truth about Tanya.

‘LEGO Friends: Keepin’ It Real & Roomies’ is now available on DVD (RRP $19.95) at all good retail stores across Australia.
