Counting down

The countdown is on!

Every morning the kids cross out another square on our holiday countdown calendar and with only 54 squares to go I am getting a little nervous. As you know I have been preparing the kids’ backpacks with lots of fun stuff to keep them busy on the plane and I have also slowly started packing the suitcases with a big stash of beautifully wrapped gifts for our family, plenty of summer clothes and of course swimmers because we are really hoping for a decent European summer.

Just 5 more suitcases to pack

Just 5 more suitcases to pack

Some people would say I’m crazy packing this early but I like being organised and it gives me a feeling of being in control, knowing that there is still plenty of time to go over the contents, pack any missing items and buy new bits and bobs if needed. I am glad I made a start already as I quickly realised that all the kids (and dad too) could do with some new undies, socks and pyjamas for the holiday.

Bonds 4-pack SocksIt turns out the timing was perfect as Bonds is currently running a Mid Season Sale with great discounts on babies and kids items, now that’s a nice saving when you’re buying for a big family like ours! I think $5.98 for 4 pairs of children’s socks (RRP $12.98, now 50% off) is a pretty awesome price, at the moment most sizes are still available and you can choose from a boys (blue, green, grey) or girls set (pink, purple, grey).

Bonds trackieI also picked up a pair of these sweet $10 trackies (RRP $19.95) for my little ladies, I even scooped up some similar ones in my size! Because we are flying overnight (and I keep my fingers crossed the kids will sleep at least a few hours!) I want to make sure they are comfortable and warm. Planes can get quite chilly and these track pants look really cosy and cute at the same time, plus they’re great for quick toilet breaks.

Bonds DressNow I know I wasn’t really supposed to buy any more summer clothes but how could I walk away from this gorgeous chevron dress? At a tiny $10 (RRP $19.95) it was a bargain I couldn’t resist and the girls will love wearing it to the beach, out shopping or during our trip to Disneyland Paris. If you’re like me and you hate paying full price you can always find fabulous deals and discounts on kids products at Cuponation.

I better keep ticking off that packing list, not long to go, not long at all!

Bonds

Breasts, boobs, bust, if there was one right time to talk about them now is it (even if it makes you feel uncomfortable). As you may know the month of October is all about breast cancer awareness with many businesses and individuals joining the ‘pink team’ and raising much needed funds for breast cancer research. The aim is to have zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030 and to get there we need your help. Don’t worry, helping out is easier than you think:

Bonds Shaper TopsThere are many different ways to help raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), like organising a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, hosting an event with your friends, school or club or you can join the team at Bonds. Australia’s favourite underwear label Bonds are experts at making comfy undies but they know all about breasts too and they have been proud supporters of the NBCF for years.

When you shop online at www.bonds.com.au you can simply add your donation for the NBCF during the checkout process and the awesome people at Bonds will match your donation dollar for dollar!

Bonds Sporty TopsAs you probably now shopping for the right bra is quite the challenge as all women are different in shape, size, style and taste. After lots and lots of research Bonds has come up with a brand new range of bras that has got pretty much every woman covered. The exciting Bonds Boobs range consists of seven different bras in lots of stylish colours and with a size range from 8A to 16G you will have no trouble finding a bra that fits. Prices start at $29.95 up to $39.95.

Bonds Bumps BraAs a breastfeeding mama I was pleased to discover that Bonds even thought of plain old Mama Boobs. If you are looking for a comfortable, wireless maternity/nursing bra look no further than the Bonds Bumps Bra ($39.95). This soft cup bra is designed to give you a beautiful shape and looks fabulous under clothing. This style is available in classic black and white and the practical drop cup design offers easy nursing access.

Bonds Push ItGet the smooth look with Bonds Slinky Tops, create the wow factor with Bonds Push It or keep your bigger bust in place with the Bonds Shaper Top, which Bonds bra are you? One of my lovely friends swears by the comfy, snug fit of the new Bonds Sporty Top so I may have to get myself one of those soon. Need a good excuse to give your underwear drawer a little makeover? Buy 3 items in the Bonds online store and get 30% off or 4 items and get 40% off, offer valid for a limited time only.

BabyOno

Now that baby Sybil is 6 months old it is time to say goodbye to those (now baggy) maternity clothes that have been hogging my wardrobe. I may still have a few kilos to lose but they say slow and steady wins the race so I am trying to give it time. Because I am breastfeeding I have been wearing my maternity/nursing bras and singlets but without that beautiful baby belly they have become a little too roomy and that doesn’t do much for your confidence. I recently discovered a perfect solution at La Mami: the BabyOno Nursing Singlet.

BabyOno Nursing SingletI am sure you have all seen nursing singlets before but this clever piece of underwear really offers the best of both worlds. On the one hand this seamless Nursing Singlet ($79) by Polish brand BabyOno is comfortable, hypoallergenic, flexible and super soft and the simple drop cups allow for easy feeding access. On the other hand it offers great shapewear functionality, pulls everything together, supports your breasts and tummy muscles and keeps all those lumps and bumps tightly in place. Double win!

BabyOno Nursing Singlet WhiteI’ll be honest, when I took the BabyOno Nursing Singlet out of the box my first thought was that it was way too small. Thinking there was no way I would ever fit in that neat black top I put it aside, but later I decided to try my luck anyway and I was pleasantly surprised. Once I wrestled my way in I immediately fell in love with this singlet, it fits like a glove and smoothes everything out beautifully. I will definitely be buying the other colours too.

BabyOno Maternity Nursing BraThe current BabyOno range consists of a Maternity/Nursing Bra, Maternity Brief, Nursing Singlet and Post Natal Belly Band. Styles are available in three classic colours: black, neutral and white, for sizing please refer to individual products. BabyOno products are proudly made in Poland using high quality materials. You can find BabyOno and many other great European brands in store at Australian boutique La Mami.

During the month of September Hip little one readers can enjoy an exclusive 15% off storewide at La Mami, as well as FREE shipping Australia wide and FREE gift wrapping, it doesn’t get much better than that! Simply enter the code ‘HIPLITTLEONE’ at checkout, offer ends September 30, 2013.

Knitted BlanketIf you love what you see at La Mami, make sure you give the La Mami Facebook page the big thumbs up and you may just win a beautiful knitted blanket (valued at $99) for your little one. These classic knitted blankets are the perfect size for in the pram or car and as they are made from 100% cotton they are breathable and soft, ideal for the summer ahead. Be quick though, the competition is nearly over!

Aug 132012

Today is my youngest daughter’s second birthday and boy, did those two years fly by. A few weeks before my due date the doctors decided that she wasn’t growing as much as she should so I was induced and she was born on lucky Friday the 13th, in room 13. As a mother of twins I was already familiar with having premature babies so I was prepared for the possibility of her ending up in special care but thankfully she only stayed there for a few hours. When babies arrive earlier than planned they are usually tiny in size and it can be hard to find the right clothes which is where Earlybirds comes in.

Some of you may already know Earlybirds, a fantastic Australian label that creates beautiful clothing and accessories for babies weighing as little as 800gram. What you may not know is that Earlybirds has had a little growth spurt and now offers an extended Bigger Birds range too. The Bigger Birds Collection is designed for ages 3 months all the way up to 5 years old (selected styles), so your growing earlybird can enjoy the earlybird comfort for much longer.

Earlybirds owner Lynda, mum to a little earlybird herself, discovered that as her son got older there was a need for bigger clothing with a leaner, slimmer fit that is perfect for prematurely born children. The Bigger Birds Collection offers just that with a range of different suits and even undies designed for narrow hips and legs. The Bigger Birds designs feature a funky, bright bird motif suitable for boys and girls with navy blue or raspberry print.

If you are a parent of a premature baby, or if you are shopping for one, you will truly appreciate the difference Earlybirds makes with clothing that is tailored to your babies specific needs and shape. When buying Earlybirds or Bigger Birds by Earlybirds you are also doing your share in supporting a number of baby and children’s charities including Life’s Little Treasures Foundation, SIDS and Kids and Ronald McDonald House.

To find out more about Earlybirds, to browse the range and to order online visit www.earlybirds.com.au.
