Just like I did when baby no.3 was born I am preparing some little gifts for the older kids to keep them busy when they come to see me and the new baby at the hospital. I already ordered a great puzzle-in-a-box for my cheeky 2-year old and I just found the perfect gift for miss 4, she is going to love this Rainbow Colouring Bag from Eureka Concepts!

The Rainbow Colouring Bag ($29.99) is a sturdy, zipped shoulder bag made from 100% cotton so it is very eco-friendly and durable. Both sides are printed with a beautiful animal theme that kids can colour in using the washable markers provided. Once they’re done and they’re ready for something new just wash it and start all over again! Such simple but fun entertainment, perfect for keeping kids busy when out and about. Choose from Jungle or Ocean theme.

Eureka Concepts is also home to the funky Patch Buddies, don’t they look cool? With a Patch Buddy on their back kids can carry around everything they need for a day out as well as a furry friend. These generously sized backpacks have plenty of room on the inside, two side pockets and a special home at the front for the matching toy. Each cuddly toy zips open to reveal a small security blanket.

There are lots of different Patch Buddies ($49.99) available to suit both boys and girls. A dog, mouse, pig or maybe a cheeky super monster, which one would your child like most? If your little one is a bit nervous about going to daycare or kindy one of these huggable buddies could make a big difference. Grab your favourite in time for Christmas and be prepared for some big smiles on Christmas morning.

When you are preparing for the arrival of a new baby there is lots you need to think of. Of course you want a beautiful nursery, a pile of gorgeous little clothes, a nice and practical pram and not to forget a stylish nappy bag to take with you wherever you go. But what makes the ideal nappy bag? Everyone is different which is why Australian label gr8x has designed a large range of baby bags so that every mum can find the right bag to fit her style and needs. Today we are taking a closer look at the gr8x Madison Hobo Bag.

The Madison Hobo baby bag is made of soft PU leather and is available in black or taupe. This bag is a decent size, not too big and not too small. The two zipped front pockets with stitch detail are perfect for your car keys, a dummy, lip balm and anything else you want to keep within reach. Thanks to the adjustable shoulder strap your bag will always be at the right length/height for your shape whilst the protective feet on the base will keep your bag clean and neat, away from the dirty floor.

Because gr8x knows mums like everything to match the Madion Hobo comes complete with an insulated bottle bag and padded change mat with matching black or orange accents, depending on the bag colour of your choice. They also know that mums dislike having to adjust the shoulder strap every time they want to hang their bag on the stroller or pram, so they have included two super handy stroller straps too. It is as simple as clicking them onto each end of your bag, easy and convenient for busy mums on the go.

On the inside the Madison Hobo offers plenty of room for all your personal belongings and if you keep your phone, wallet and spare change safe and neatly stored in the handy mobile phone pouch and zipped coin pocket you’ll never have to dig around when you need them. With your stuff tucked away on the sides there is lots of room left for all the things you need for a day out with baby.

Thanks to the public holidays we had the opportunity to spend some nice days out together. Great fun but also quite a challenge, car trips are not so relaxing when you are travelling with 3 small children. As if two freshly toilet trained toddlers are not enough there is also the baby, who likes a delicious bottle milk before her sleeps but no place to clean and sterilise a bottle on the go. Luckily I recently discovered a fabulous product by Gelpack, the Steri-Bottle.

The Steri-Bottle is, you guessed it, a feeding bottle for babies that is pre-sterilised. This eliminates the need to wash and sterilise bottles when out and about, now that is what we call super easy and convenient. These clever bottles are designed in the UK and made in a hygienic, state-of-the-art facility in the USA. Thanks to Steri-Bottle your baby can enjoy a clean bottle anywhere and anytime, there is no need to worry about boiling water, brushing and scrubbing and yucky dried up milk in hard to reach spots.

Even though these bottles are single use and disposable they still meet the same high standards as ordinary bottles so of course they are BPA and phtalates free and they are recyclable too. The teats are fast flow and suitable for ages 3 months+. Steri-Bottles are available in a 2-pack (RRP $5.34) and 5-pack (RRP $8.85) which works out to be $1.77 per bottle, a small price to pay for the ease and convenience it offers.

In our case we were well prepared and brought the Steri-Bottles along for the drive, but of course they are also a brilliant solution for when you find yourself without a bottle and away from home, a case of emergency when you are dealing with a hungry baby. Instead of paying more for an ordinary bottle and trying to find a place to sterilise it before use you can pick up a Steri-Bottle for a fraction of the cost and use it straight away.

Did you know that Gelpack is a proud sponsor of the Miracle Baby Foundation? By buying Gelpack Nappy Sacks you are helping raising much needed funds for this great cause.

Recently one of my lovely readers gave birth to a gorgeous little girl, a beautiful addition to their family of three. Looking at the pictures of this new arrival is making me a bit clucky, compared to her my youngest seems like such a big toddler already! Knowing little miss C. is a breastfed baby I thought her mummy would be the perfect tester for the new breastfeeding coverlets from Pretty Well Covered.

Invented by an Australian mum the Pretty Well Covered breastfeeding coverlets are a stylish, discrete and convenient way to feed your baby in public. Specifically designed for the warmer Australian weather they are lightweight and cool. As they are made of sheer fabric you can see your baby when feeding, the perfect design for mums who are worried about breastfeeding when out and about.

I am not surprised my tester Cindy loves this new Australian product, this is what she had to say:

First impression: The Pretty Well Covered breastfeeding coverlet looks classy and stylish, sheer material looks lovely as does the shape. Great quality and workmanship was good, professional finish to the product. Practicality was good. I never used any covers with my first child but I have found the coverlet to be no more difficult to use (than not use anything at all), and I found it easy to carry around and fit in the nappy bag as it is not bulky. It even came with a little mesh bag for storage.

The material was lovely, sheer and cool. Provided enough coverage to be discreet though still allowing me to see my baby through the material. Due to the material being non-stretchy, it is important to get the correct size to allow plenty of room to move. The size I got was correct for me, though if I were to buy another I might get the next size due to the material not being stretchy, and I personally like things to be roomy.

The Pretty Well Covered breastfeeding coverlets cost $30 per coverlet which I think is fine and I would be happy to purchase a coverlet for that price, it is worth it in material, quality and practicality. My friends commented on how discreet it was even being sheer, and they all thought it was stylish. There are eight designs to choose from so you can choose a print that matches your style or your outfit.

Bamboo Care at Bubzyboo

Baby, Eco, Style  Comments Off on Bamboo Care at Bubzyboo

Call me crazy but I am already thinking ahead of what our kids should wear on our plane trip to Holland later in the year. With over 24 hours of travelling by plane and spending time at Kuala Lumpur Airport it is important I pick something that is comfortable, soft, practical and suited to different temperatures. I know that bamboo clothing will tick all those boxes so for the baby I might start with the Bamboo Care Yoga Pants from Bubzyboo.

We have had the Bamboo Care Yoga Pants for 3 months or so and she wears them all the time. At the time I picked the pale pink colour but I might invest in the white too for when I want to match it with other colours. They are super soft for playing and even sleeping in and so easy to put on and take off (perfect for on the plane). The pants are made of 70% organic bamboo and 30% organic cotton.

Bamboo and organic cotton fabrics are a great choice for little ones with sensitive or eczema prone skin, at the moment my little miss is doing great (except for her face and feet) but I know it can flare up with the smallest change of diet or weather. Another fabulous feature of bamboo is that it helps regulating the temperature, so during hot weather it cools down and the other way around, an ideal fabric choice for a cool plane trip and humid airports.

Within the Bamboo Care range you’ll find long and short sleeve onesies, yoga pants and singlets in pink, white and blue. Designed for babies the clothing is available in sizes 0-3, 3-6, 6-12 and 12-18 months. My little lady is very chubby so I feared she would be too big but the sizing is actually rather generous and there is plenty of room left for her to grow into these next few months.

Baby, Out & About  Comments Off on SnoozeShade
Jan 272012

Just like many other families we thought Australia Day was a perfect day to venture out and explore this beautiful country a little more. Now that the twins are a bit older going out has become a lot easier, they can walk by themselves and with a bit of luck they can go without a day sleep. The baby can walk by herself too, in fact she’d love to walk everywhere if she could, but she definitely still needs her sleep during the day. Unlike the twins who only slept in their own cots the baby quite enjoys a little nap in the pram, nice and cosy under her SnoozeShade.

SnoozeShade was invented by mum Cara, who loved going out with her little girl but the older she got the harder it was to get her to sleep in the pram. Cara realised that there was a big need for a product that would allow babies and toddlers to take a quiet, comfortable, peaceful snooze in the pram without being disturbed by light, noise, activity around and even curious passersby.

After a year of brainstorming, researching and trying SnoozeShade was born, a blackout blind for strollers and prams. For me,  someone who used to leave the house with pegs and a gigantic muslin cloth (which never stayed put), this is a gift from heaven. The SnoozeShade has been designed to fit different pram sizes and shapes and to offer complete coverage. The breathable SnoozeShade blocks out 94% of light and 98% of UVA/UVB rays ensuring a safe and silent rest for baby.

The SnoozeShade is fitted with many clever features to help baby get a restful sleep and mum feel confident about baby’s safety and protection. My favourite selling points are the fast installation (it takes less than a minute for me to put up the SnoozeShade Plus) and the ‘Sneak-a-Peek’ zip for peace of mind. I also love how the look-out panel lets baby look out but sun doesn’t come in, perfect for the bright summer days.

I am currently using the SnoozeShade Plus on my phil&teds Vibe 2 but there are several other SnoozeShade designs to choose from. Thanks to the classic black colour the SnoozeShade suits every pram and doesn’t go out of fashion. The clever design features velcro straps for an ideal fit for your pram, on the website you’ll find an extensive list of prams that have been tested with the SnoozeShade. Prices start at $34.95 and when ordered online delivery within Australia is FREE.

Now that the twins are out of nappies I can run out the door with next to nothing, what a welcome change after 3 years of dragging a complete nursery along. Some wipes, a dummy, a nappy for baby and a nappy sack are all I need so instead of a bulky nappy bag I can now get away with a compact Nappy Wallet from Charlie Bloome.

Charlie Bloome’s new Nappy Wallets have been designed by mums for mums (and dads) so you know that they are fitted with lots of clever features. From the outside the Nappy Wallet looks exactly like, well, a wallet but just a bit bigger. The neutral brown colour is suitable for both mums and dads and the clip lets you attach the wallet to your pram or bike so you can really keep your hands free. The outside zip pocket offers a handy storage space for your phone and car keys.

On the inside you’ll find a generous sized fold out change mat that can be wiped clean, as well as a zip pocket and a mesh pocket to store nappies, wipes and other little necessities you might need when out. It is hard to believe but all this comes with the small measurements of just 30 x 20cm (closed) and the teeny price tag of $18, you won’t find a better price elsewhere!

Anyone who knows me will know that I always tend to bring much more than needed but even with a few add-ons the Charlie Bloome Nappy Wallet still has room and the strap on the outside keeps everything nice and snug together without the risk of popping open (unlike other wallets that close with velcro). A perfect design for busy parents on the go, it can hold all you need and hardly takes up any room.
