In Disney favourite The Lion King people from all over the world fell in love with the adorable lion cub Simba and joined in on his adventures in the wild. But little lion cubs grow up too and Simba grows into a a big impressive lion, the spitting image of his father. The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride continue’s the story of Simba, who is now a father himself. It is always hard when your children become independent and to watch them make the same mistakes you made. For Simba it is definitely a struggle to see his own daughter Kiara leave her safe family environment to experience ‘life on the outside’.

Luckily she does not travel alone, Kiara is accompanied by her father’s loyal friends Timon and Pumbaa who are famous for their silly sense of humour (Pumbaa’s ‘windy’ jokes are always a winner with the kids). The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride is all about ‘Upendi’ which means love; love between Kiara and her family, love for the Pride Lands and could her feelings for rival Kovu possibly turn into love too?

So we have seen how Simba met meerkat Timon and warthog Pumbaa when he ran away from the Pride Lands, if it wasn’t for these two hilarious buddies things would have gone a lot differently. But where did they come from in the first place and how did they bump into Simba? In The Lion King 3 you can experience the story from their angle. They are funny, a little silly and sometimes a bit smelly and my kids thought this movie was the best of all three.

The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride and The Lion King 3 are available on Blu-ray ($44.95) or DVD ($36.95), on sale at major retailers across Australia from April 4.
