Tiger Tribe

While it is usually very easy to pick gifts for your own children it can be quite tricky to find the right gift for little friends, class mates and neighbourhood buddies. Often there are quite a few little people to buy for (costs add up quickly!) and you don’t always know exactly what they like. The clever team at Tiger Tribe knows all about these tricky receivers which is why they have designed a huge range of affordable kids toys and gifts that will get the thumbs up from every child.

To help you with your Christmas shopping we have put together our Top 5 ‘Gifts under $20’ for both boys and girls and the best part is: you can win them all! For your chance to win all of the items featured below make sure you enter our giveaway, we’ll make sure this fabulous prize packs gets delivered to the lucky winner in time for Christmas.

Piccolo Colouring Set Big GirlsThere are lots of gorgeous girly goodies to choose from with popular themes like fairies, princesses, mermaids, forest animals and of course dress ups. This Piccolo Colouring Set ($11.95) is specifically created for girls aged 5+ and I think our 5-year old would love it. The gorgeous little kits with 2 handy storage drawers are filled to the brim with art supplies to keep kids busy these school holidays: 48 colouring-in pages, 5 sheets of stickers and 10 markers. Perfect for a visit to grandma’s house too!

Make & Play FairyAnother hot favourite for the girls is the Make & Play Fairy Activity Set ($14.95, 3+). This lovely activity kit is double the fun, first kids can get creative with paper, markers and stickers. Then parents can help them put all the pieces (wings, tiara, wands, treasure chest) together to make a real fairy costume, after all there is nothing more fun than a magical game of make believe. Bonus: No glue or scissors needed (ideal for the plane).

Piccolo Magnet Book Dress It UpWhen you are travelling by car, train or plane you want to pack light and pick toys that can be used again and again, like this Piccolo Magnet Book ($9.95, 3+). More dressing up fun ahead but this time it’s two adorable little magnetic dolls that need a new outfit. The handbag sized Magnet Book contains one magnetic scene and a sheet full of magnets, just pop them out and have fun playing fashion designer with this stylish mini wardrobe. Move, mix, match, swap, change, it’s all up to you!

Sweet Thing Forest FriendsI have to admit that I had a hard time picking a favourite from all the cute stamp sets (one can never have enough stamps!) but I eventually I decided on the Sweet Thing Forest Friends ($11.95, 6+). Forest animals are very popular right now and with these sweet little stamps you can add them to all your drawings, letters and cards. The set contains a pink and red ink pad and 4 adorable stamps: a fox, bear, squirrel and raccoon.

Bluebird HandbagMy girls love being ‘just like mum’ and of course that involves carrying around a beautiful handbag. This month Tiger Tribe has released this colourful Bluebird Handbag ($14.95, 3+) which I think will be a top seller this Christmas. It’s the perfect size for all those special treasures that little ladies like to take along when they get out and about. The cheerful red handles make it the ideal accessory for a wonderful Christmas outfit.

Move over glitter and pink, time for the cool boys to have a peek in the Tiger Tribe treasure chest:

Super Clay Mini Tub RobotI think you’ll have a hard time finding a cooler boys gift at a price like this. The brand new Super Clay Mini Tubs (4+) cost just $7.95 each so you can afford to stash a few away in your present cupboard. Each little tub contains super clay in different colours and the robot parts you need to create your very own robot. The clay is non-toxic, mess free, easy to mould and air hardening. It’s even reusable so it’s endless fun in a tub.

DSC_2232Fasten your seatbelts, get ready for take off and off you go! If you’re looking for a great stocking filler you can’t go past these classic wooden Pull-Back Aeroplanes ($11.95, 3+). No batteries, no flashing lights and no noise (except for the sound of your child’s imagination), it’s back to the good old days of decent toys. The Pull-Back Aeroplanes are available in four different designs, so if you have multiple boys to shop for this will avoid arguments and mix-ups.

Piccolo Magnet Book RobotBecause I liked the girls Magnet Book so much I also selected a Piccolo Magnet Book ($9.95, 3+) for boys, featuring planets and robots this time. Who said boys can’t be creative? Bring out the artist in your little man with these colourful magnets, all the pieces are there to make a family of quirky robots. The compact size of this set makes it perfect as on-the-go entertainment while you wait at the doctor’s office or during the church sermon.

Inflatable World GlobeWith our own 5-year old son in mind this Inflatable World Globe ($14.95, 3+) would have to be my number 1 pick, he is very interested in different countries (especially because half of our family lives overseas) so he would go crazy for this. When all they see is ‘flat’ world maps it can be hard for kids to understand that the world is in fact round. It’s fun to play with, fun to learn from and fun to look as decoration in your bedroom too! Packs up flat and inflated it measures an impressive 50cm in size.

Piccolo Sticker BookLast but not least I chose the Piccolo Sticker Book ($9.95, 3+), I don’t know what it is about stickers but kids always get excited about them. With 8 pages of scenes and more than 50 reusable stickers young transport fanatics are sure to appreciate the On the move Sticker Book. There are three different Sticker Books to choose from and because they’re flat packed they make a perfect present to post to family interstate or overseas.

Australian mum Chloe knows that it can be very time consuming to dig through all the plastics to find the perfect wooden toy or gift which is she started Decor Baby, a lovely online store filled with wooden treasures.

For our son’s 5th birthday we bought him this Tiger Tribe Aiport Boxset ($59.95) made from eco-friendly birch plywood and it was big hit. These stylish baby toys are lovingly created with non-splintering, certified sustainably harvested hardwood and finished with organic oils so they’re completely safe your little bundle. Unlike many other baby rattles the Smiling Tree Toys rattles have a lovely, gentle rattle that is very pleasant and absolutely not noisy or irritating.

Long neck relief

Long neck relief

Heart Teething RattleThe teething rattles are currently available in 4 different shapes: Owl, Dove, Heart and Giraffe. Baby Sybil really enjoys playing with the Giraffe Teething Rattle as the long neck makes it easy to hold and the smaller head manages to reach her sore gums perfectly. After a while of daily use you can simply ‘refresh’ your rattle with a light sand and good coating of an organic food grade oil, we tried this last week and it looks like new again.

Babble Box

What a week we have had. I love having four kids but when everyone (including me) is sick at the same time it is quite the challenge especially in the middle of winter. Luckily there was some welcome distraction in the shape of the Babble Box:

Babble Boxes

Created by Aussie mum and dad team Rebecca and Franck Babble Box is a hip new subscription service that aims to provide modern Australian families with something to babble about. Every month they carefully choose a range of hip, handy, fun, beautiful or yummy products from fabulous brands from Australia and overseas and combine them in the Babble Box. The Babble Box is tailored to your child’s gender and age and gets delivered to your doorstep, how easy is that?

MuddypawsThis month’s Babble Box was packed with fabulous goodies that were well received by my bunch, there was something in it for all of them! Mister 4 immediately ran off with Muddypaws by Moira Butterfield ($14.95), he is very much into learning letters and loves looking at the beautiful illustrations. Because it was the luxury edition (super sized board book with padded cover) the kids could even read it together without arguing about not being able to see. Great addition to the bookshelf!

Tiger Tribe Money BoxAs soon as miss 4 spotted the Butterfly Money Box ($14.95) by Tiger Tribe with its sweet pink patchwork design she claimed it has her own. She’s a bit young for pocket money but until then she can use it as a pretend mailbox, she’s always scribbling little notes and making drawings for everyone so this will keep them nicely together. I’ve read that the boys Babble Box included this very cool Rocket Money Box, it looks awesome!

Boon Catch PlateThe Babble Box team clearly knows that mealtime can be very messy when you’re dealing with a toddler so they included this funky Boon Catch Plate ($12.95) for miss 2. It is fitted with a handy food catcher and strong suction cap base (we tried it on the wall and it really is strong!) so it stays put during dinner. Of course it is free from nasties like BPA, PVC and Phthalates so it a stylish and safe choice.

And there was more: A box of Little Bellies Muesli Choo Chews ($4.50) and some lovely organic Hair and Body Wash and Massage Oil ($10) by Little Innoscents, I told you Babble Box had my whole tribe covered! Now here’s the awesome part, Babble Box not only takes care of the shopping for you but they also make sure you get the best price. Depending on your type of subscription (month by month or 3, 6 or 12 months) you pay just $24.95-$29.95 per box and delivery is free Australia wide.

For the past year I have been counting down to this day and now the moment has finally come, we are off to the airport to pick up my parents who are flying in from The Netherlands. We only have a few short weeks together so we are determined to make the most of every minute and the preparation alone is already so much fun. Every time a plane flies over the kids are telling me the plane is heading for the airport and Opa and Oma are on it. They have never seen a plane up close so they can’t wait to get to the airport today and hopefully catch a glimp of one. Speaking of airports, I recently spotted this awesome Airport Boxset by Tiger Tribe, doesn’t it look awesome?

The wooden Boxsets by Tiger Tribe are simply stunning, what a surprise package they are! From the outside they look like a neat, tidy box which will keep rooms looking organised and they are perfect for travelling. Inside you’ll find several sturdy wooden toys and a themed stage, providing kids with all they need to create their own adventures using their imagination. This Airport Boxset contains 2 planes, a helicopter and plenty of track pieces to entertain kids for hours.

For the girls there is this delightful Dolls House Boxset, filled with plenty of furniture and little toy people made of strong plantation timber that is durable and eco-friendly. Parents will love these sets are they are packed up in no time so no endless mess on the floor, they are also a great tool to keeps kids busy at grandma’s or on holiday. With Christmas less than 90 days away now is the time to think of great Christmas presents.

Aside from the cool Airport Boxset and the cute Dolls House Boxset (my favourite) there are several other Tiger Tribe Boxsets available, like the Car Boxset, Train Boxset and Beach Villa Boxset. You can even grow the transport boxsets using special extension kits with extra pieces to create a longer track and extra cars or trains. The boxsets are suitable for children aged 3+ due to small pieces.
