With just over 4 months to go until our European holiday I am starting to get very excited. I can’t wait to see my loved ones again and of course to introduce baby Harriet to her Dutch family. As she will be 11 months old when we travel Hattie will not get a seat on the plane, but thankfully we received confirmation that a bassinet has been allocated to us. Together with our super handy Fly Babee that means she’ll hopefully be able to snooze in peace during the flight:
Hailed as a real must-have for travelling families the award-winning Fly Babee (RRP $99.95) is the world’s first sleep-easy cover designed for airline bassinets, pram carry cots and strollers. It’s compact, portable and extremely light-weight (just 600 grams!), yet big enough to comfortably fit around airline baby beds and large prams and provide your baby with a private place for a little nap.
The practical pop-up design makes Fly Babee extremely easy to use, it unfolds in the blink of an eye and attaches to the bassinet or pram frame with simple clips. This same strong pop-up frame creates a safe, spacious ‘dome’ around your baby without a claustrophobic feel or the risk of collapsing. When not in use you can keep your Fly Babee cover safely tucked away in the handy carry bag (included) which attaches to your pram with two velcro straps.
Fly Babee is packed with plenty of other great features to make travelling with a baby a little easier, for example block-out fabric that locks out over 90% of surrounding light, 100% breathable fabric to avoid overheating and a convenient ‘Chance a Glance’ window so parents can have a little safety-peek without disturbing your tiny dreamer. Whether it’s a walk around the block, a short domestic trip or a long international flight, Fly Babee takes the stress out of your next family adventure.
Now that our little treasure has arrived safe and well and we know the gender of our newest family member I can finally do some shopping which, as you know, is one of my favourite things to do. As Harriet is our 5th baby we obviously have most baby gear already but of course she deserves something fresh and new too, luckily with the help of little add-ons and accessories you can easily give your ‘old’ stuff a trendy makeover (and I am not just talking about your baby’s wardrobe!).
Thanks to Australian label Audrey and Me I managed to up-style our trusty Joolz Day pram in just a flash, adding a pretty, personal and practical touch. As soon as I spotted this stunning design online I knew it would be the perfect match for our Parrot Blue ride, doesn’t it look absolutely divine?
Audrey and Me Pram Liners (RRP $49.95) are lovingly handcrafted in Australia using 100% certified organic cotton, providing your little traveller with a soft and padded seat that is gentle on their skin and the environment too. I appreciate the peace of mind knowing there are no nasty chemicals near my baby and with the warm Summer season just around the corner the breathable cotton fabric will help keep miss Hattie cool and comfortable.
Of course the eye wants something too and with 32 different prints and 6 backing colours to choose from there is a design to suit everyone. Not that I had any trouble deciding, I fell in love with the Forest Floor fabric even before Harriet was born so sneakily I was very pleased we had a little girl. I teamed it up with the aqua polkadot on the reverse which looks beautiful together and I get two very different looks in one great product. To complete the look you can even add a pair of matching Strap Covers (RRP $14) to your order.
Sometimes handmade products can look a little ‘basic’ and rough around the edges, but that is definitely not the case with Audrey and Me. To say I am impressed is an understatement, the attention to detail is amazing and the finish is sublime. I love how the pram liner fits like a glove and looks so professional whilst still displaying that handmade charm; I am absolutely thrilled with my pram makeover.
We all know children are experts at making things dirty so a pram liner is a stylish and easy way to protect your pram seat from spills and other messy accidents. When needed you can just remove the liner and wash it in the washing machine on a cold/gentle cycle, great news for busy mums like me who don’t have time for hand washing.
At Audrey and Me they understand that not all prams are the same and have different straps at different heights, so to ensure a perfect fit for your stroller all pram liners are handmade to order and come with a unique ‘Fit Guarantee’. Simply specify your pram make and model during checkout and Audrey and Me will deliver a custom made liner to match, now that’s what I call excellent customer service!
Two months ago I introduced you to the fabulous Thule Urban Glide and told you all about our family’s outdoor adventures with this sporty ride, if you missed my original post you can read up here. With an impressive 34kg weight limit the pram is an excellent pick for children for all ages and after testing it with our two middle girls I couldn’t wait to try it out with our smallest addition too:
With the help of the Thule Infant Car Seat Adapter (RRP $99) you can turn your Thule Urban Glide into a complete travel system. From home to car, from car to pram and vice versa, transporting your sleeping baby is an absolute breeze.
The Thule Infant Car Seat Adapter clips snugly onto the frame of the Urban Glide, providing a safe and sturdy location for your capsule. The capsule can then be secured by fastening the adjustable strap for a nice snug fit. Unlike most other capsule adapters the Thule adapter doesn’t just hold your capsule on the sides, it offers a secure position all around and therefore reduces movement when pushing the pram.
With your most precious cargo on board safety is very important so make sure your capsule is compatible with the Thule Infant Car Seat Adapter. There are currently an impressive 29 different capsules from a range of popular brands listed on the handy Compatibility Chart, downloadable from the Thule website. Luckily for us the capsule of our choice, the Nuna Pipa, was a perfect match so I can confidently click our baby in for the ride.
The Thule Urban Glide (RRP $749) and a range of Thule accessories are available at Baby Bunting, Babies’R’Us and leading independents retailers across Australia.
Whether it’s braving the shops, a relaxing stroll to the park or school pick up for older siblings, sooner or later you’re going to have to take that little bundle of joy outside for the first time. Hodge Podge Baby will help you keep your baby safe from sun, stares and strangers with their gorgeous range of baby must-haves:
Forget about improvising with wooden pegs or sloppy knots, Peggles Pram Pegs (RRP $19.95, 2-pack) are the stylish new way to attach a wrap, blanket or sheet to your baby’s pram/infant carrier when out and about. Shaped like a pretty butterfly Peggles hold your cover neatly in place, so your baby can sleep peacefully in the shade.
I love how versatile these clever clips are, you can tell they are designed by a team of real, hands-on mamas. Unlike traditional wooden laundry pegs Peggles feature a larger and wider clasp to easily fit around your pram frame or sun hood and snuggly hold onto bunched up fabric so it doesn’t slip out with the tiniest tug of little hands. They are available in six trendy colours to suit your baby’s gender, stroller or nappy bag beautifully.
New to the Hodge Podge Baby range are the handy Organic Teething Wraps (RRP $49.95). Made right here in Australia using super soft and breathable 100% Certified Organic Cotton they are not only gentle on your baby’s skin, they are kind on the environment too. The two unique teething corners (BPA free) are excellent chomping material for grumpy babies without the worry of dangerous nasties near your child. Measuring 110 cm x 80 cm in size they are the perfect fit for your bassinet, capsule or pram and of course you can secure your wrap in style with Peggles.
If you want to know what great uses other Aussie mamas have for their Peggles make sure you follow Hodge Podge Baby on Instagram for a regular dose of baby goodness and lots of fabulous Peggles ideas.
With just 6 weeks (or maybe less?) to go until baby no.5 arrives I am starting to get very excited about meeting our new addition. I can’t wait to see if we’ve been blessed with a little boy or a little girl, what he/she looks like and introducing the baby to the four siblings. I know it is a lot less important but I’ll admit that I am also looking forward to not feeling/looking like a whale, finally being able to sleep on my belly and getting out of the house and back into shape.
As we are expecting a Spring baby I am planning to spend plenty of time outside, exploring the neighbourhood and getting fresh air whilst enjoying some (gentle!) exercise and hopefully building up to some running in the future. Outdoor specialist Thule, famous around the globe for its high quality transport gear, is on a mission to get parents off the couch and out the door with a fantastic all-round sports stroller perfect for our Aussie landscape.
The sleek and modern Thule Urban Glide is packed with great features that will make your outdoor experience fun, safe, smooth and hassle free:
Sybil (2 years old) enjoying a comfy trip
The Thule Urban Glide is one of the lightest full-size strollers I have ever come across, weighing in at just 10.5kg it is extremely light to lift (yay for my poor back and post-delivery recovery) and a breeze to push. Don’t be fooled by the featherlight design though, there is absolutely nothing flimsy about the Urban Glide! It is strong, sturdy and solid and can hold up to an extremely generous weight of 34kg. This means that all four of our children, ranging from 2 to 7 years old, can enjoy a ride in the same pram, now that’s what I call an excellent investment that will really grow with your child.
Juliet (5 years old) hitching a ride
The clever designers at Thule have made sure the Urban Glide is very comfortable for both child and parent. The pneumatic tires and rear suspension guarantee a smooth, comfy ride even on bumpy terrain whilst the soft padded seat can be reclined to a near-flat position, making it an ideal pick for snoozes on the go. The ergonomic handlebar can be adjusted in height to suit anyone from petite, gorgeous mummies to tall and handsome dads and anyone in between, measuring close to 2m hip daddy is particularly grateful for this back-saving feature! I also love the multi-position sun canopy that comes down nice and low compared to other prams, keeping the bright (and harmful!) sun out of your little one’s eyes.
The extra-generous sun canopy is ideal for bright, sunny days
Whether you are strolling, jogging or running, thanks to the strong, adjustable 5-point safety harness your little passenger will sit safe and snug in the Thule Urban Glide. You can keep a close eye on your precious cargo at all times by peeking through the handy view-in-roof window. The front wheel swivels for easy manoeuvrability as you navigate the shops or park and can be locked into place when you are jogging longer distances, of course the Urban Glide meets all safety standards.
Big sturdy wheels perfect for exploring the Aussie outdoors
With years of experience in the car industry hip daddy has come to know the Thule brand as a high quality, durable and reliable label. His expectations of the Thule Urban Glide were therefore very high and I am glad to say it did not disappoint. The frame is very solid and strong and everything clicks and slides into place easily and smoothly. Thule is so confident that their prams are built to last that they back up their design with an unbeatable 10-year frame guarantee, is that the ultimate peace of mind or what?
Big in perfomance, small in storage
To save you time and energy the Urban Glide can be folded in a quick, effortless one-handed motion. Simply slide the folding mechanism, hidden under the seat and away from curious little hands, to the side to instantly collapse the pram to a compact fold for storing and transporting. If desired the wheels can be taken off to create an even smaller package.
Three of my favourite busy-mum features are the thick, strong fabric that is easy to wipe clean, the handy mesh pocket next to the seat that keeps your child’s drink bottle within reach and of course the large zippered basket that holds up to 4.5kg. I often do a quick shop on the way (usually ending up with more than planned) so I love the roomy storage. The basket cover is even water resistant in case you encounter a little shower on the way.
Accessories: There are quite a few Thule accessories available (sold separately) to help you make the most out of your Urban Glide, including a rain cover, mesh cover, snack tray and more. I am particularly excited about the Thule Infant Car Seat Adapter which is compatible with our chosen baby capsule, I can’t wait to share a snap of our new addition enjoying a Thule trip in just a few short weeks. I will make sure to share our experiences with the Thule and a newborn once the baby is here and we are ready to head outside.
The Thule Urban Glide (RRP $749, colours Dark Shadow, Mars or Thule Blue) is available at Baby Bunting, Babies’R’Us and leading independents retailers across Australia.
We may not know the gender of our baby just yet but that hasn’t stopped me from stocking up on gorgeous wraps already, I simply can’t resist a beautiful swaddle. One to sleep in, one as a change mat cover, one as a breastfeeding cover, one as a spare in your nappy bag, one as a pram shade… a simple piece of fabric with so many uses.
If you’ve ever popped your muslin wrap on your baby’s pram as a quick and easy sun shade you have probably noticed it doesn’t always stay put. All it takes is a sudden breeze, a quick peek at your sleeping baby or a gentle tug from little hands and your wrap slides off. No more of that this time around thanks to these clever babies from Hodge Podge Baby:
Shaped like fluttery little butterflies Peggles (RRP $19.95, 2-pack) are much more than handy pram pegs, they are also a sweet decoration showing that practical and pretty go very well together. Of course they can be used to attach your wrap elsewhere too, you can snap them onto your baby carrier to block out sun or wind or clip them onto your capsule for a bit of privacy during nap time, now that’s handy.
Peggles Pram Pegs are currently available in six stylish colours to perfectly suit your pram, your nappy bag or personal taste. They make a unique and useful gift for a baby shower or new arrival and priced at under $20 they won’t break the bank. Handy tip: If you sign up as a Hodge Podge Baby VIP you get 10% off your first order.
Whether you want it or not, sooner or later you will have to leave the house with your new bundle. Personally I found preparation is key and as long as you bring a few essentials you will be just fine. You don’t have to carry a big, bulky baby bag around, simply pop your little must-haves in one of these handy Elektra Bub pram organisers and you’re good to go:
Designed right here in Australia the Elektra Bub Pram Organiser (RRP $29.95, regular and large) allows active Aussie parents to enjoy the outdoors and have all their baby needs within hand’s reach.
The compact pouch conveniently attaches to the handle bar of your pram using strong velcro straps, it takes only 30 seconds to get it in place so you’ll be out the door in a flash. The main compartment is the perfect home for a nappy and small pack of wipes, a baby toy, a snack for mum and some dummies while the zipped front pockets are an ideal storage space for your car keys, mobile phone (and a lipgloss).
I love that you can detach the front zipped pocket, that way if for any reason you have to leave your pram outside (it doesn’t fit through the shop door, the change room or toilet is too small or the cafe too crowded) you can still take your valuables with you. On either side of the thermo insulated Elektra Bub Pram Organiser you can store your lovely warm drink and your cold baby/water bottle, keeping them upright and at the right temperature. How handy is that?
When our new bundle arrives later this year I know I will be extremely grateful not to have to drag around a heavy baby bag when I go out for just a quick walk. Nor will I have to bend down low and hurt my back to dig deep in the pram basket hoping to find what I am looking for. I’ll have everything I need close by with this lovely Elektra Bub pram organiser (large, to fit my Joolz) in stylish grey chevron.
The pram organiser is currently available in black, grey chevron and aqua chevron.
