Meet our new RoomMates

It feels like we only just completed the last bedroom makeover and now we’re about to start all over again! With baby no.6 due in September we’ve had to rework our floorpan, rethink who sleeps where (and with whom) and of course create a brand-new nursery for our new arrival, so much to do and not enough time… Luckily everyone is excited about the upcoming bedroom shuffle and about getting a new bedroom buddy.

Once the renovations are complete miss 4 is moving up the hall into a girls bedroom together with miss 6 and they both can’t wait. We’ve picked out some gorgeous linen for their beds, some cosy pillows for reading and relaxing and we added a fresh sprinkling of love with these little pretties by RoomMates:

What better way to transform a plain wall into a girly delight than with a generous supply of love hearts? With a huge 180 individual decals Watercolor Heart Wall Decals in a range of pink shades there was certainly no shortage of love (to be honest we only used half, leaving plenty for the other girls room!). And guess what? Not only can you brighten up your walls with these beauties, you can also use them to revamp other flat surfaces like your furniture, windows and more.

Applying a RoomMates wall decal is as simple as peel, position and stick, if I can do it anyone can do it! It is quick, easy and non-permanent making RoomMates ideal for people who are renting or just want a stylish decor that can be reversed when people move house, swap bedrooms or change their style. If you want to update your decor the stickers can easily be removed without damaging your walls and you can reuse them in a different location, offering affordable design fun over and over again.

Another personal plus is that, unlike when you paint walls, RoomMates won’t leave you with strong paint fumes that can unsettle children or oversensitive pregnant mamas like myself. I really enjoyed our first RoomMates experience so I can’t wait to pick the perfect RoomMate for our baby’s nursery. There are so many different designs to choose from to suit any bedroom, playroom or living room but I am leaning towards this Modern Giant Tree or the Neutral Confetti Dots, what do you think?

Just like probably every other child in Australia our tribe is terribly excited to go to the cinema and see the long-awaited movie Finding Dory which finally hit the big screen this week. I myself would love to see it too but am not that keen on long line-ups or packed movie theatres, so we might hold off on the cinema for a little while.

Crayola Dory

Don’t worry, until the crowds die down kids can enjoy plenty of underwater fun with the exclusive Finding Dory range by Crayola:

Crayola Color & StickerThe new Crayola ‘Finding Dory’ Color & Sticker Book (RRP $4.99, ages 3+) is the perfect pick for Disney fans of all ages (Yes, even the youngest of the family!). With 16 sturdy, double-sided colouring pages (32 images) and more than 50 cute Finding Dory stickers there is plenty of creative fun to go around, even for our big family. The loose pages and 4 individual sticker sheets make sharing super easy, everyone can colour their favourite Finding Dory characters and decorate them to their liking.

Crayola ChalkLet’s hope there will be a few dry hours this weekend for our little artists to get outside with this awesome Crayola ‘Finding Dory’ Color Your Heroes Sidewalk Chalk (RRP $7.99, Ages 4+). The pack contains 8 large pieces of coloured chalk and on the back of the pack it shows kids how to draw Dory in just 6 simple steps. That’s right, you could find Dory on your doorstep in no-time! My kids have had a quick try on normal paper already and their Dory creations turned out ador(y)able.

Crayola Color WonderIf you are a longtime Hip Little One reader you know by now how much we love Crayola’s ‘Mess Free’ entertainment. The magical Color Wonder markers only work on special Color Wonder paper, keeping clothing, skin, furniture and walls squeaky clean (and saving my sanity). It’s great to see that Dory and her underwater buddies have splashed their way into the Color Wonder range too and I think the Crayola ‘Finding Dory’ Color Wonder (RRP $13.99, ages 3+) set will be a very popular buy these school holidays.

Each Color Wonder set includes 18 Color Wonder colouring pages and 5 special markers in assorted colours that match the theme. To make Dory look her very best this cool pack comes with the typical Dory blue and yellow, orange for Nemo and two other cheerful colours to create an amazing underwater scene.

You can find these and other Crayola ‘Finding Dory’ products at major leading retailers across Australia.

Be prepared for a bit of controversy when you browse the Big Kids Graphics range!

In This HouseAs you know I have a soft spot for typography so I would love to see the inspirational In This House Wall Graphic ($59) somewhere in our home, such a lovely reminder for busy families like ours. It would be perfect for a kitchen or living area, somewhere the family gets together often and will be reminded of what really matters. Good to know: the In This House Wall Decal can be made to fit your space perfectly, just ask Big Kids Graphics for a quote.

My children’s favourite shop to go to is Bunnings. Not because of the forklifts and the little trolleys but because I let them choose two colour cards from the walls full of paint colours. I know they would love for us to paint their bed rooms walls in some bright colour but I have realised that it is not that easy; to clear out a room completely, to prep the walls and let them dry during two or three coats of paint, only to be changed for another colour a few months later. The beautiful wall stickers from 41 Orchard are a much quicker and more practical way of decorating and they look amazing.

One of the first things you’ll notice when browsing the 41 Orchard website is the colours, an eye catching range of vibrant, fresh, happy colours that will put smiles on faces. All of the wall decals can be ordered in different colour combinations so you can select the look that suits your wall space perfectly. For some styles you can even make up your own custom colour combination, allowing you to create the room of your dreams.

In store you’ll find a wonderful range of nursery wall stickers, tree wall stickers, name wall stickers, chalkboard stickers and much more. Tree wall decals are very popular at the moment but often they are more suitable for girls, at 41 Orchard they have put together some beautiful ‘boy colours’ so hip boys can join in this trend too. My favourite would have to be this Nursery Tree Wall Sticker, I think it looks amazing!

The 41 Orchard wall stickers are made right here in Australia from a special, high quality fabric that can be moved over and over again. So when your kids swap rooms or even when you move house you can take your decoration with you. The wall decals are PVC free, biodegradable and made with eco-friendly, non-toxic inks so you can rest assured that they are perfectly safe for your little treasures.
