The uggs are back in use, the woodfire is on and the beds are made with flannelette sheets… the cold season has well and truly arrived! She may be old enough for a proper girl bed, but Hattie is definitely not big enough to manage the sheets and keep her quilt on throughout the night. Of course I hate to think that she’s laying there in the cold, so I trust ergoPouch to keep her warm all night long:

Super soft, padded and snuggly warm, stepping into a ergoPouch 2.5 TOG Winter Sleep Suit (RRP $64.95) is pretty much like being wrapped up in a cosy quilt that fits your body like a glove. I secretly wish they made these awesome sleep suits in my size too!

Over the years ergoPouch has become known around the globe for its dedication to natural fibres, offering parents a safe choice for their baby and the environment. By avoiding nasty chemicals and itchy synthetic fabrics ergoPouch has also earnt the tick of approval from the Eczema Association, great peace of mind for those with sensitive skin! The Winter Sleep Suit outer is made with 95% organic cotton with a touch of elastane to allow active kids to move around freely, while the thick 100% organic cotton filling keeps cold chills at bay with a 2.5 TOG rating.

As Hattie is past the sleeping bag stage the Winter Sleep Suit is the perfect next step, it’s just as comfortable and warm and at the same time it allows her to hop in and out of bed by herself and walk around too. Dressing your little sleepy head and midnight nappy checks/changes are a breeze thanks to the special three-way zip, opening up both the front and back. It also has super handy fold-over cuffs at the wrists (up to size 2) and ankles, allowing you to cover tiny toes and little hands in just a flash.

The 2.5 TOG Winter Sleep Suit is currently available in sizes 1 to 5 years and comes in three gorgeous prints to suit boys and girls: Midnight Arrows, Petals and Triangle Pops.

With a baby brother who is rapidly growing out of his bassinet we were getting quite desperate for miss Hattie to complete her cot-to-bed transition. I admit it has been a slow process with quite a few hiccups along the way but eventually we got there! She has now totally settled into the new sleeping quarters and is enjoying the freedom it comes with, hopping in and out of bed multiple times a night. Of course this means sleeping bags are no longer an option, but thankfully ergoPouch has come up with a solution:

Is it a sleeping bag? Is it a sleep suit? Well, it’s both! The convertible ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag (RRP $74.95, 2 months – 6 years) combines everything you love about a cosy sleeping bag with the benefits of a more grown-up suit with legs. All it takes is two zips and you can change between suit or bag as often you please and as your child’s needs or sleeping arrangements change, now that’s great value for money.

Perfect for that tricky in between weather the short-sleeve ergoPouch Spring/Autumn Sleep Suit Bag (1.0 TOG) will keep baby comfortable and at the right temperature without being bulky and restrictive. Made with the sensitive skin of little ones in mind the soft organic cotton and bamboo blend is gentle and allergy friendly, reducing the risk of skin irritation, eczema flare-ups and long nights of itching and scratching.

The award-winning Sleep Suit Bag offers plenty of wiggle room and a teeny touch of stretchy elastane allows your child to move hips and legs around freely. Whether your child sleeps in cot, car or carrier, rides in a stroller or even likes to stroll on his/her own wobbly little legs, the innovative 2-in-1 design can be used anywhere without compromising on safety (the suit mode allows for seatbelt and harnesses). Fitted with special no-slip grip pads the suit will help new walkers stay on their feet.

I really love the handy room thermometer that comes with the Sleep Suit Bag, completely free. Not only does it show you the temperature in your baby’s room, the dressing guide also tells you which TOG rating to wear at different room temperatures and what type of clothing to put underneath your sleeping bag or suit. It’s just the helpful guide a caring parent needs to reassure them they are doing the right thing for their precious little one.

In line with the SIDS guidelines ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bags provide the warmth and comfort babies require for a restful sleep without the need for (potentially dangerous) loose bedding. Not sure which product/TOG rating to choose? Use the quick ergoPouch Finder to find the best match for your child and his/her sleeping environment, easy as pie.

When I walked (or should I say waddled?) into the delivery room at almost 41 weeks pregnant I loudly informed Hip Daddy that, compared to my five previous pre-term babies, this one was surely going to kill me. At the time the midwives reassured me that the baby would be average in size, but when our boy weighed in at a whopping 4.6kg (10lbs 3oz) I couldn’t help but think ‘I told you so!’. Now that Ted is 2 weeks old I am feeling a bit more like my old self and our big chubby bundle of joy is an absolute delight who feeds and sleeps like a champ, most of the time…

All six of our babies have been swaddled from birth (some even up to 10 months+) and I found it extremely helpful in establishing a good bedtime routine. As soon as those wriggly little arms and kicking legs are snuggly wrapped our little boy calms down and drifts off to sleep, here he is on cloud 9 with ergoPouch.

With its super clever 2-in-1 design the ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle + Sleep Bag (RRP $34.95- $44.95, ages 0-12 months) is the ultimate womb-to-world sleep solution for young families. You can start using the Cocoon immediately from birth (Minimum baby weight 3kg) as a swaddle, keeping arms safely tucked inside whilst the bell-shaped bottom leaves plenty of room for hips and legs to move freely.

If you’re put off by all the folds, twists and tucks of traditional swaddling with a large piece of fabric you will absolutely love the ease of the Cocoon, just zip up and you’re done. Strong little Houdinis won’t be able to escape from their Cocoons, allowing both baby and parents to get a proper sleep without endless re-wrapping. Midnight nappy checks are a breeze too, as you can use the two-way zip to quickly check the bottom half without having to take off the whole Cocoon.

As your baby gets bigger and moves on from being swaddled you can use the same Cocoon as a sleep bag by opening up the arms with the handy armhole poppers. You can even choose for a slow transition and free up one arm at a time, how easy is that? There is no need to buy different products and you can change back and forth as needed, making the Cocoon a budget-friendly investment for new parents.

To ensure a comfortable temperature at any climate you can choose from a 0.2 TOG or 1.0 TOG rating. Made from breathable organic cotton (0.2 TOG) or a soft organic cotton/bamboo blend (1.0 TOG), with a touch of elastane for extra stretch, the Cocoon Swaddle + Sleep Bag is ideal for sensitive newborn skin. The ergoPouch Cocoon is currently available in six stylish prints to suit boys and girls.

It may only be early April but it looks like Autumn has officially arrived here in South Australia. We’ve already had quite a few cold, dark and rainy days and it’s getting a little harder to get out of bed in the mornings. To be honest as a foreigner I am always glad when the cooler season sets in and I can’t wait to rug up for Winter and get a nice woodfire going.

As the nights get chillier it is important to adjust your child’s sleepwear accordingly, to ensure your little one is comfortable and warm all night long. No matter what climate, ergoPouch has you covered and the latest Autumn/Winter arrivals are an absolute treat.

The now famous ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag (1-3.5 TOG, RRP $74.95-$84.95) is a hot favourite all throughout the year with stylish sleepyheads from 2 months all the way up to 6 years old rocking this genius design. The clever two-in-one sleep bag suit converts from a traditional sleeping bag to a handy sleep suit in only a few quick zips, it doesn’t get easier or quicker than that.

Especially for the upcoming cool season ergoPouch has just released some super cosy 3.5 TOG Sleep Suit Bags in four gorgeous prints to suit boys and girls. Featuring a luxurious organic cotton sheeting outer layer, warm 100% cotton filling and long cotton fleece sleeves children can sleep comfortably without need for loose bedding that could pose a potential safety risk.

It is clear that the ergoPouch Sleep Suit Bag has been designed with real children and real parents in mind, it comes packed with small and big details that will make life easier for everyone. From no-slip grip pads on the feet to fold over mittens to keep little hands warm (and prevent scratching), from stretchy side-panels to allow plenty of movement to covered zippers, from being suitable for pram, car and baby carrier to easy nappy change access, this well engineered product ticks all the boxes.

Sleep, what can I say… As a mum of five I get very little of it, in fact I can’t even remember the last time I slept a whole night without being woken by one or more of my beautiful children. Many people think it’s newborn babies who cause all these broken nights, but not in our house. We have swaddled all our little ones from birth and found it worked a treat, the night time trouble only started once they grew out of the wrap…

sleepy-hugs-pastel-flags

Going from the snug, safe haven of a swaddle to the big, wide world of flapping arms and kicking legs is a tricky and tiring transition for precious bundles and their parents. Thankfully Baby Loves Sleep owner and Aussie mama Lourdes, also known by her nickname Malou, is coming to the rescue of tired families across the country with this clever invention:

sleepy-hugs-greyThe unique, patent pending Sleepy Hugs sleep suit is designed to help you to gently and safely move away from the tight swaddle whilst maintaining that comforting, cosy feeling that so many babies need to get into a restful, deep sleep. The enclosed wing-like sleeves mimic the ‘restricted’ feel of a traditional swaddle without limiting arm movement and the spacious, wide sack allows for plenty of hip movement (and even a hip dysplasia harness).

Made from 100% soft, breathable cotton fabric Sleepy Hugs are perfect for the sensitive skin of newborns and those suffering from eczema and other skin conditions. Even better, thanks to the closed-in design small hands are kept safely away from the face to avoid scratching. To make midnight nappy changes as quick and easy as possible you can zip the suit open from the bottom, so convenient! Here’s to long nights and lazy naps for everyone…

sleepy-hugs-range

The Sleepy Hugs sleep suit (RRP $59.95, ages 3 months – 12 months+) is currently available in four stylish designs to suit both boys and girls. Whether you live in a cold or hot climate, with both an Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer weight to choose from you can rest assured your Sleepy Hugs suit will keep your baby comfortable all night long.

In less than two weeks our little Hattie will hit the 6 months mark. I can’t believe how fast she grows, we’ve already spotted two teeny tiny white dots on her little gums and the end of swaddling is also in sight. Harriet is so quick at rolling these days that for safety reasons we will have to move to sleeping bags soon, I am guessing we are in for a fair few sleepless nights…

Swaddle Up

At Love To Dream they understand that the transition from swaddle to sleeping bag can be quite a tricky one, not just for your baby but for mum too (back to broken nights and lots of resettling). If you don’t like the sound of going ‘cold turkey’ you will love the gentle approach of the Love To Dream 50/50 Swaddle Up,

The 50/50 Swaddle Up offers all the sleepy goodness of the famous Swaddle Up Original with a fabulous convertible twist. Thanks to two convenient zips the ‘wings’ can be detached individually and help your baby slowly get used to the strange (and a little scary) experience of free arms. Start with a swaddle and end with a sleeping bag, how easy!

Love To Dream 50:50

With the cooler season approaching Love to Dream has just released the special Swaddle Up 50/50 Winter Warm (RRP $59.95, size Medium – Extra Large), a cosy 2.5 TOG convertible swaddle that will keep your precious bundle toasty warm. The super soft bamboo quilting offers both warmth and comfort to allow your baby a restful night sleep even on chilly nights. The gender neutral design is perfect for both boys and girls and the convenient double zip makes midnight nappy changes a breeze.
