Earlier this week I wrote about the beautiful Maileg My Little Circus toys and it looks like the circus is a hot theme in fashion too. The beautiful new Fabrik winter collection has arrived in store at Skip to my Lou, it’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect for the special little lady in your life.

20-11The lovely Fabrik Circus Tee ($39.95, size 000-6) with its luscious layers of tulle frills is sure to get the thumbs up from stylish little girls. The Circus Tee combined with the divine Fabrik Odette Skirt ($59.95, size 2-6) is a match made in heaven, my two princesses would go crazy for it. If you already have a favourite printed party skirt the plain coloured top could just be the finishing piece you are looking for, it is available in pink, grey marle and white which will go with almost any colour.

8-15Of course the Fabrik Peter Pan Cardigan (currently on special for $46.20, size 2-6) is not your every day cardi but I think it is super cute (I have a soft spot for anything Peter Pan and am quite the dreamer myself). This sweet knitted cardigan with eye catching sequin collar is available in classic navy (my favourite!) and soft pink. There are many more unique Fabrik designs to choose from and if you hurry you could still pick up some half price summer designs.

You know I love spotting hip brands that stand out from the crowd so I was very excited to discover the new Mói range at Skip to my Lou. Mói is a very funky Scandinavian label creating children’s clothing that doesn’t just look super cool but is created in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner too, a double win.

Mói Play Dress ($42, size 0-6)

Mói Baggy PantsMói caters for stylish boys and girls from newborn up to six years old with a great collection of tops, leggings, dresses and rompers. The neutral grey and black colours are a welcome change to the bright colours you see everywhere else and the perfect example of ‘less is more’. Where bright colours blind your eyes the beautiful calm colours of Mói clothing catch your eye with their simplicity and leave the real spotlight to the child that is wearing it.

Mói Bird T-ShirtOf course you can always mix and match Mói with other items from your wardrobe to create your very own urban mix, it’s super hip to be different than the rest. Just in case you are wondering where the quirky name Mói comes from: Mói was the name of an Icelandic bird who used to visit the Mói designer’s family often and became the family ‘pet’. Little did he know he’d be pictured on a tee years later!

A little while ago I told you that Ashlea, the lovely lady behind Skip to my Lou, was busy working on a new website and after a lot of hard work it is finally time for the big reveal. The new Skip to my Lou website does not only look gorgeous, it is easy to use and navigate too to make your shopping experience as enjoyable as possible. To celebrate the brand new look here’s a fabulous offer for you:

Get 20% off storewide at Skip to my Lou, simply enter the code ‘newlook’ at checkout. Grab a bargain while you can, offer valid until November 11, 2012.

A long, long time ago, before I had kids, I used to buy shoes and lots of them. Now there is not much time left to shop for myself and to be honest it is much nicer to shop for my kids anyway. This week I spotted these super cool kids shoes at Skip to my Lou and with the current 20% off storewide offer I couldn’t resist buying a pair for each of my little cherubs in different colours. The hip Native Jefferson Shoes are lightweight, washable, antimicrobial and odour resistant so ideal for active kids.

There are plenty of stylish threads to be picked up too with choice of great brands that are that little bit different like Fabrik. The Fabrik range feature gorgeous children’s designs designed in Australia by the very talented Sarah. I love her unique style and every garment is decorated with little surprises and quirky details. The hand printed Paradise Dress is perfect for little princesses with its ruffles, long length and royal golden finishes.

I am huge fan of the hip ESP No.1 label, I could easily buy every single style available. This cool brand makes fashionable, practical, easy to mix-and-match pieces in (mostly) unisex designs, ideal for hand me downs or sharing between siblings. This summer season brings some colourful basics with these green No.4 Jean Shorts being my favourite, a gorgeous fresh colour for both boys and girls.

Sunday Coffee with Skip to my Lou

Oct 072012

Today we are joined for Sunday Coffee by the gorgeous Ashlea from Skip to my Lou. This lovely online store stocks so many great brands from all over the world, if you enjoy shopping for something different than everyone else this is one store worth checking out. Behind the scenes Ashlea is busy working on a brand new website, I can’t wait to see the end result!

What does your ideal Sunday look like?
A lazy Sunday is always the best, so we can get ready for the week ahead! Lucy is very much an outdoor girl so we spend as much time outside as possible: going to the park, the beach or spending time out in the garden.

Why did you start Skip to my Lou?
I am obsessed with fashion and online shopping! So when I had my daughter my love of fashion quickly extended to children’s fashion. I found that there were a lot of stores out there but they all stocked the same brands. I wanted to create something a bit different that mixed unique Australian labels with amazing international brands and bring them to the one place.
Starting Skip to my Lou has been very exciting – I have learnt so much over the past year and look forward to see how it will evolve and grow in the future!

What do you like most about running Skip to my Lou?
There are so many things I love about running Skip to my Lou! I love that I am learning new things all the time ant that it forces me to take time out for myself- so my life does not completely revolve around a 2.5 year old and running a household!
I love getting to see all of the new trends and picking out Lucy’s wardrobe for the upcoming seasons!
Most importantly the lifestyle it gives me- I get to spend the day with my daughter being a mum. I love the fact that I can take Lucy to her music lessons and gymnastics and watching her grow into a fun and sweet little girl.

What is your favourite Skip to my Lou product?
With all of the new styles constantly coming in it is so hard to choose! But my favourite product coming into the summer would have to be anything Coco & Ginger!
I love the prints and styles they feel so summery. I love the Fern Shorts and the Maya Blouse, I just wish Lucy was big enough to fit them!

What can we expect of Skip to my Lou in the near (or maybe far) future?
We are very busy getting ready to launch our new look site in the coming weeks- I am very excited about this! In the future we are looking to grow and extend our size range to cater for ages 0 to 8 years and bring lots of new exciting brands to Skip to my Lou.

Beach fun with Kiniki

Sep 112012

Last Friday we decided to take some time to ourselves and take the kids to Victor Harbor for the day. Away from all the chores waiting at home, away from the computer, away from washing and beds to be made. Apart from the windy weather it was a perfect day, it was nice and quiet and we enjoyed yummy treats from our favourite bakery. From a distance we even spotted some brave people going for a swim, I myself prefer to wait until Summer. Don’t miss out on your favourite beach wear, get the look with the new Kiniki summer range now in store at Skip to my Lou.

One of the hot new arrivals is this Kiniki Ruffle Swimsuit. It features a classic white and navy colour scheme combined with cheeky asymetric shoulders. With a spaghetti strap on one side and a gorgeous bunch of ruffles on the other your little water rat can splash as much as she likes with the straps staying nicely in place. Available in sizes 0-24 months ($42.95) and sizes 3-7 years ($44.95).

If your child wears a different size top than bottom, or if you are worried about toilet breaks, you might like the Kiniki separates instead. The cool purple and blue rashies have long sleeves for extra protection and the board shorts can be adjusted slightly thanks to the drawstring, no one likes coming out of the water without shorts on! You can buy each piece in your preferred size, make your own set or mix with swimwear you already have at home. Prices start at $29.95 (Mini Kiniki) up to $44.95 (Kiniki).

While you are checking out the awesome Kiniki range make sure you take a look at all the bargains from the winter collection too. There are loads of good buys left and they are all reduced by a massive 50%! I picked up some awesome styles for the twins two weeks ago including this cute Aviator Hoodie ($27.45). Such a great price and it is perfect for kindy. Scoop up some funky pieces for next winter while you can, stock is selling quickly.

Jun 142012

Although I am (obviously) hoping we will be enjoying nothing but good weather while we are in Europe next month I am well aware that European summers can be windy and wet too. On those days we will need a nice coat for sure, I looked everywhere and managed to find one for all of us except for my oldest daughter. Luckily this week I discovered a gorgeous coat at Skip to my Lou and there happens to be a fantastic sale on so I was right on time.

Until June 20, 2012, you can save 20% off storewide at Skip to my Lou by entering the code ‘SALE’ at checkout. This offer even includes already reduced items which means you can save up to 60% on loads of great items for babies, boys and girls.

You have to admit that this is one adorable little girls jacket. This beautiful design by Nellystella is absolutely perfect, the neutral colour will make it fit in with any outfit (you have to be practical when it comes to coats). The nice high collar will keep the wind out and there are plenty of pockets for my little lady to store her treasures in. I can’t wait for it to arrive and see it on! The Nellystella Lea Jacket is already on sale but you can get an additional 20% off with the code ‘SALE’, what a great bonus.

Eco conscious mums will love the extra savings on the Nosh Organics range, a selection of colourful, fun and high quality pieces for babies, boys and girls made with organic cotton. Let kids be kids in this comfortable, funky, unique clothing without exposing them to harmful chemicals. All Nosh Organics clothing is already reduced but with the extra 20% off this really is a bargain not to be missed.

For funky boys there are lots of bargains to be had too, like this Kiniki Western Check Bonded Shirt (size 3-6). The crisp white and light blue colour combination brings a much needed splash of colour to the boring, dark winter months. A cool pair of jeans and a white tee is all it needs to brighten up a cold day and the price will brighten your face too as right now you can scoop up this stylish piece for just $30.76 with the discount code ‘SALE’.
