For as long as I can remember I have loved coconut. As a child I would be over the moon if my mum bought a coconut, savouring every piece I could get out of the shell. As a teenager I was addicted to the tropical scent of coconut shampoos and body creams and of course I would eat more than my share of yummy Bounty bars. Aside from the delicious smell and the scrumptious flavour coconut is full of fabulous health benefits, so I knew I was in for a treat when I discovered Cocobare Baby:

Made right here in Australia by the skincare experts at Beauty Ninja this lovely coconut based baby skincare range is the bee’s knees, one little sniff and you’re hooked! Cocobare Baby skincare uses naturally derived and organic ingredients to keep your baby’s delicate skin in tip top shape (and secretly this mama adores it too).

Unlike many other skincare brands, that use water and synthetic ingredients to treat only the top layer of the skin, Cocobare Baby uses soothing coconut oil which penetrates deeper, making it an excellent moisturiser and nourisher. Not only does it pamper the skin thoroughly, it also kills harmful micro-organisms so it is a gentle but strong protector too. Combine that with natural superheroes like chamomile, aloe vera, calendula oil and Shea butter and you’re in for a treat.

Whether you are fighting a battle with stubborn nappy rash, flaky cradle cap or itchy eczema or just want to keep your baby’s skin soft and supple Cocobare Baby has you covered from top to toe with a Baby Wash, Shampoo, 2-in-1 Shampoo and Baby Wash, Lotion, Bottom Balm and Massage Oil. The entire Cocobare Baby range is completely free from nasty minerals, paraben and palm oil, ensuring parents they are making the right choice for their precious little bundle and the environment at the same time. Cocobare is not tested on animals so our little fluffy bundles give it the thumbs up too!

To find out more about Cocobare Baby, to locate a stockist near you or to order online visit www.cocobarebaby.com, prices range from RRP $9.95-$15.95.

ecostore

I totally get it, after five babies my friends and family really don’t know what to get us anymore for baby no.6. Baby’s wardrobe is already filled with gorgeous clothes and we are fully kitted out with pram, carrier, car seat and other baby gear, all that is left is for baby to grow bigger and stronger before its arrival in September.

However one thing you can always make me, and any other expecting parent, very happy with is a new supply of ecostore goodies. As a big family of ecostore-fans who uses their natural skin, boy and haircare products every single day we always welcome a stock-up, I think it makes the perfect baby shower gift:

ecostore has lovingly developed a fabulous range of baby products that are gentle on your precious bundle and kind on the environment too. Wave goodbye to yucky chemicals, synthetic dyes and perfumes, mineral oils and other hard-to-pronounce ingredients and go green with ecostore. Of course it is not just a great choice for little ones, our whole family uses ecostore Baby Body Wash (RRP $8.99, 200ml). It’s soft on the skin and the lavender/geranium scent is not too overwhelming.

ecostore has your daily clean covered: we used the Baby Body Wash in the shower and for the kids’ bath we add a splash of playful bubbles with the ecostore Bubble Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) for extra fun. Hopefully the soothing ecostore Sleepytime Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) lives up to its name and will help us get some much-needed sleep when baby has arrived! Did you know the ingredients used in these bath products are so gentle that with proper greywater systems in place your bath water can even be re-used on your flower gardens, lawns and trees?

ecostore Baby Shampoo (RRP $8.99, 200ml) is a plant-based formula that cleanses your child’s hair whilst carefully protecting its natural properties at the same time, it gently strips away the dirt but not the important natural oils. A small amount goes a long way so a 200ml bottle lasts ages, especially if you only have a fine layer of baby hair to wash (unless our new baby surprises us all and is born with a full head of hair!).

I know the ecostore Baby Moisturiser (RRP $9.99, 200ml) was officially created for babies but I often reach for this nourishing moisturiser for my own sensitive pregnant mama-skin too. It is absorbed quickly and the light fragrance is really pleasant and not too strong. Once our baby has been born I can hold him/her close to my skin without worrying about what the baby is breathing in, if it is safe for baby it is safe for me too! This moisturiser is also perfect for a post-bath massage.

It may be small in size and in price but the ecostore Baby Soap Goat’s Milk & Lavender (RRP $2.99, 80g) is by far one of my best finds. This soft, creamy and natural soap is ideal for our older kids who wash hands countless times a day, there is no allergic reaction like they experience with many popular liquid handsoaps (and a block of soap is a lot less wasteful) plus I know they won’t be transferring yucky chemical nasties when they touch our tiny newborn.

To be honest I think the ecostore Nappy Balm (RRP $9.99, 60ml) could do with a new name, as this little jar of magic can be used for so many more things than red bottoms. Yes it does work wonders for nappy rash, but it can also bring welcome relief for cradle cap and other little skin problems, it is one of my first go-to products when our children’s skin is playing up. ecostore Nappy Balm is a wonderful non-greasy, non-staining barrier cream that helps protect your baby’s skin the natural way.

With only one more week until the kids go back to school we’re busy shopping for the last bits and pieces and adding the final touches to school bags and uniforms. I can’t believe I will have two 8-year olds going into the ‘big building’ this year! They sure grow too fast, before we know it I’ll have twin tweens on my hands… If you already have a tween or teen girl heading back to school you’ll love this great ‘Back to School’ giveaway from our friends at Girl Lane:

Developed by a pharmacist using natural and botanical ingredients the Girl Lane product range will help young girls learn to care for their skin, body and hair the right way. With the start of a new school year in mind Girl Lane has put together this sweet pack for one lucky winner:

It is no secret that skin dries out quickly, especially in this hot, dry Australian summer weather and with airconditioners flat out in every home, car and school. Made with soothing Aloe Vera a quick spray of this compact Girl Lane Intensive Hydration Mist (RRP $11.99, 50ml) will help you wave goodbye to dry, irritated skin and welcome back calm, moisturised skin. Our daughter says it feels nice and cool, it’s definitely a thumbs up!

You are never too old or young to learn about slip, slop and slide and it is super important to teach our children to be aware and pro-active when it comes to sun protection. The Girl Lane High Protection Sunscreen (RRP $9.99, 40ml) is safe for sensitive skin and offers powerful SPF50+ protection against harmful sun. It’s an ideal size for backpacks or sports bags and is even 4 hours water resistant, bring on sports day and swim carnival.

At the end of a busy day it may be the last thing on your daughter’s mind, but a good cleansing routine will definitely help keep tricky teenage skin fresh and healthy. It doesn’t have to take long, these Girl Lane Gentle Cleansing Wipes (RRP $6.99, 25 pack) are quick and easy to use and can be used anytime and anywhere (they’re a great refresher throughout the day too). They are free from nasty parabens and SLS and instead treat the skin to a dose of nature’s goodness with Aloe Vera and pomegranate.

As a 33-year old mum I may not exactly be a girl anymore but that doesn’t mean the Girl Lane Tropical Paw Paw Lip Balm (RRP $5.49, 15g) can not be my favourite new lippy. This fruity Paw Paw balm feels, smells (and dare I say, even tastes) absolutely delicious. Containing a selection of caring ingredients like Papaya, Jojoba, Shea Butter and Macademia Oil it leaves lips soft and shiny and the lip shaped-applicator makes it easy for young girls to apply without mess or waste.

To keep your child’s school bag tidy and organised and all these handy body basics neatly together they are throwing in a cute Girl Lane Metallic Bag (RRP $10). This spacious storage bag is perfect for a trip to the toilets but also great for sports, school camp or a holidays. It even has a handy see-through front so you can see in a flash if you’ve got all favourite gear before leaving the house.

Jergens

People often tell me that I have my hands full with such a big family and that’s exactly how I like it, unless of course one of my hands is bandaged up and out of action like it is today… After undergoing wrist surgery yesterday I won’t be able to use my hand for a few weeks, not easy when you are right handed! Luckily I have Hip Daddy home to look after me and the rest of the family, allowing me to properly rest up and recover (if it wasn’t for the pain this almost sounds like a holiday!).

Jergens Ultra HealingTo make sure the skin on my hands and arm doesn’t dry out during my recovery I will be smearing religiously with a nourishing moisturiser for extra dry skin. I first tried Jergens ‘Ultra Healing’ a few weeks ago after I burnt my hand on the fireplace and it really helped soothe and heal my skin quickly. My hands felt super soft and within no time the damaged layers were replaced by smooth, healthy skin.

Say goodbye to dry, tired skin and give it some much needed TLC with Jergens ‘Ultra Healing’ (from RRP $5.99 – $12.99). Packed with important vitamins C, E and B5 as well as a unique illuminating Hydralucence blend this luxurious moisturiser is clinically proven to repair dry, cracked skin, including famous trouble areas like heels, elbows and knees. Not only is it absorbed quickly (great for busy mums like me), results are visibly quickly too.

Jergens Moisturisers

From the top of your head to the tips of your toes, Jergens is all about soft, smooth skin that is healthy and radiant. For a bit of extra glow there is even a dedicated Jergens ‘Natural Glow’ collection that adds a natural-looking colour to your skin, perfect for beating that pale, white winter skin.

You can find the Jergens range at your local Priceline pharmacy.

Baby By Sia

No matter how tired or grumpy she is, the sound of the shower never fails to cheer up our little Hattie who absolutely loves bath time. Thankfully so as she is turning out to be a very messy eater, after a busy day she loves relaxing in the bath while I rinse of all that sticky goo. If you adore a squeaky clean baby too but you are worried about what you’re putting on your baby’s skin you’ll appreciate the gentle approach of Baby By Sia:

Zinki (RRP $27, 50ml) offers an effective little layer of protection in the shape of a gentle face and body lotion that is absorbed easily (no thick white paste like many other zinc products). The addition of natural gems like olive leaf extract, green tea extract and coconut oil ensures skin is left hydrated and nourished throughout the day.

MutiOne look at the pretty packaging of Baby by Sia’s Muti (RRP $29, 15ml) and you know you are in for a treat.
