For as long as I can remember I have loved coconut. As a child I would be over the moon if my mum bought a coconut, savouring every piece I could get out of the shell. As a teenager I was addicted to the tropical scent of coconut shampoos and body creams and of course I would eat more than my share of yummy Bounty bars. Aside from the delicious smell and the scrumptious flavour coconut is full of fabulous health benefits, so I knew I was in for a treat when I discovered Cocobare Baby:

Made right here in Australia by the skincare experts at Beauty Ninja this lovely coconut based baby skincare range is the bee’s knees, one little sniff and you’re hooked! Cocobare Baby skincare uses naturally derived and organic ingredients to keep your baby’s delicate skin in tip top shape (and secretly this mama adores it too).

Unlike many other skincare brands, that use water and synthetic ingredients to treat only the top layer of the skin, Cocobare Baby uses soothing coconut oil which penetrates deeper, making it an excellent moisturiser and nourisher. Not only does it pamper the skin thoroughly, it also kills harmful micro-organisms so it is a gentle but strong protector too. Combine that with natural superheroes like chamomile, aloe vera, calendula oil and Shea butter and you’re in for a treat.

Whether you are fighting a battle with stubborn nappy rash, flaky cradle cap or itchy eczema or just want to keep your baby’s skin soft and supple Cocobare Baby has you covered from top to toe with a Baby Wash, Shampoo, 2-in-1 Shampoo and Baby Wash, Lotion, Bottom Balm and Massage Oil. The entire Cocobare Baby range is completely free from nasty minerals, paraben and palm oil, ensuring parents they are making the right choice for their precious little bundle and the environment at the same time. Cocobare is not tested on animals so our little fluffy bundles give it the thumbs up too!

To find out more about Cocobare Baby, to locate a stockist near you or to order online visit www.cocobarebaby.com, prices range from RRP $9.95-$15.95.

I am sure many mums will understand me when I say that I do not at all feel ready for these tweens years yet! The twins turned 10 in August and miss O. dived straight into it by having her ears pierced (after several years of begging!). She doesn’t go anywhere without her lipgloss and sprays perfume by the bottle, I wish she would stay little for a while longer! Thankfully she is not into makeup just yet but she has been having a ball experimenting at home with these tween-friendly gifts from Kooki U:

Designed and made right here in Australia Kooki U offers young Australian girls a cruelty free, mineral based cosmetic range that is affordable and fun. Happy kids, happy mum: Double win!

Whether you are into bright and colourful or neutral and subtle, Kooki U has everyone covered. Olivia is most definitely more the neutral type so this gorgeous Glam Powder (RRP $14.95) suits her perfectly, it adds a subtle touch of shimmery shine to cheeks, eyelids and lips and of course the pretty pink Kabuki Brush makes applying it extra special. Glam Powder is available in three shades: Sparkles, Blue Glow and Pink Glimmer.

Now that Summer has finally arrived it’s time to get out the nail polish and get those toe nails sandal ready. The Kooki U nail polish collection features bold neon colours, sweet pastels and glittery hues and you can even finish the look with some eye catching nail stickers, how awesome is that? When it comes to cleaning up the nail polish can be removed with Kooki U’s gentle moisturising, water-based nail polish remover with Aloe & Vitamin E.

With prices starting at just $1.50 Kooki U is a perfectly shopping destination for birthday presents, Christmas gifts, party favours and stocking fillers that won’t break the bank. You can also handpick your favourite Kooki U pieces and bundle your unique selection in one of the cute Kooki U gift tins, or save time and choose one of the pre-made Kooki U Gift Sets (RRP $19.95-$44.95) instead. The tins look fabulous and can later be used to store other little trinkets and treasures in too.

As a mum of six little ones I have experienced my fair shares of allergies, intolerances and sensitivities so I wasn’t exactly surprised to discover our little Ted is struggling in that department too. So far we are not having any luck finding a food he doesn’t react to (aside from breastmilk), with his chubby baby body covered in angry red rashes and dry patches after every try. Eczema runs in the family so I was super interested to get stuck into this eye-opening guide by Karen Fischer:

As a successful nutritionist and mother of an eczema-sufferer, and after working with eczema patients for more than 15 years, Karen Fischer knows first hand the impact eczema can have on your life, but also how much of a difference your diet can make in managing it. On a mission to ban nasty skin rashes and fight the eczema misery she has created The Eczema Detox (RRP $34.99), a life-changing book that combines the science behind food choices and the way they affect on your skin with delicious skin-happy recipes for eczema patients of all ages.

Filled with loads of healthy, nutritious recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, snacks and even drinks changing to this low-chemical diet for eliminating skin inflammation is a piece of cake. The book will use some of your pantry staples but also introduce you to new flavours and ingredients that will help improve your skin and wellbeing. We’ve been testing some of  these treats at home and I can highly recommend the Steamed Salmon with Maple Dressing, the Protein Smoothie Bowl, the Sweet Potato Stack and Banana Carob Icy Poles.

Only released last month ‘The Eczema Detox’ has been such a huge hit that is already out of stock and currently undergoing a re-print. Don’t miss out on your chance to ditch the itch and pre-order your copy today, new stock is due to arrive in April.

School’s out, sun’s out

Out & About  Comments Off on School’s out, sun’s out

And that’s a wrap! The kids have finished term 4 with a refreshing day at the pool with all their school friends, just what they needed after some very sweaty 38 degree days last week. We are looking forward to relaxing, enjoying the outdoors and catching some much needed Vitamin D, without sunburn of course!

Developed right here in Australia Solar D sunscreen takes being ‘Sun Smart’ to a whole new level with a super clever patented technology that filters UV light to let the good stuff (UVB) through whilst keeping harmful UVA rays out, now that’s smart! UVB helps your body to produce Vitamin D, in fact we get a massive 90% of our Vitamin D from the sun which is why vitamin D is also known as the ‘sunshine vitamin’.

Being a broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen Solar D reduces the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging (if used as directed with other sun protection measures), making it a safe and reliable choice for Aussies of all ages. As a busy mum of six I spend ages putting sunscreen on my precious babes before we head outside and I love how quickly Solar D is absorbed, without leaving greasy marks on their clothing.

If you are concerned about what you are putting on your children’s skin you will be pleased to know that Solar D has got your little ones covered with a dedicated Solar D Kids sunscreen. It is free from nasties like fragrance, oil, paragons, oxybenzone, nanoparticles, PABA and gluten, so it is safe for those with sensitive skin. Stay sun safe these school holidays whilst soaking up that valuable Vitamin D with Solar D.

I totally get it, after five babies my friends and family really don’t know what to get us anymore for baby no.6. Baby’s wardrobe is already filled with gorgeous clothes and we are fully kitted out with pram, carrier, car seat and other baby gear, all that is left is for baby to grow bigger and stronger before its arrival in September.

However one thing you can always make me, and any other expecting parent, very happy with is a new supply of ecostore goodies. As a big family of ecostore-fans who uses their natural skin, boy and haircare products every single day we always welcome a stock-up, I think it makes the perfect baby shower gift:

ecostore has lovingly developed a fabulous range of baby products that are gentle on your precious bundle and kind on the environment too. Wave goodbye to yucky chemicals, synthetic dyes and perfumes, mineral oils and other hard-to-pronounce ingredients and go green with ecostore. Of course it is not just a great choice for little ones, our whole family uses ecostore Baby Body Wash (RRP $8.99, 200ml). It’s soft on the skin and the lavender/geranium scent is not too overwhelming.

ecostore has your daily clean covered: we used the Baby Body Wash in the shower and for the kids’ bath we add a splash of playful bubbles with the ecostore Bubble Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) for extra fun. Hopefully the soothing ecostore Sleepytime Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) lives up to its name and will help us get some much-needed sleep when baby has arrived! Did you know the ingredients used in these bath products are so gentle that with proper greywater systems in place your bath water can even be re-used on your flower gardens, lawns and trees?

ecostore Baby Shampoo (RRP $8.99, 200ml) is a plant-based formula that cleanses your child’s hair whilst carefully protecting its natural properties at the same time, it gently strips away the dirt but not the important natural oils. A small amount goes a long way so a 200ml bottle lasts ages, especially if you only have a fine layer of baby hair to wash (unless our new baby surprises us all and is born with a full head of hair!).

I know the ecostore Baby Moisturiser (RRP $9.99, 200ml) was officially created for babies but I often reach for this nourishing moisturiser for my own sensitive pregnant mama-skin too. It is absorbed quickly and the light fragrance is really pleasant and not too strong. Once our baby has been born I can hold him/her close to my skin without worrying about what the baby is breathing in, if it is safe for baby it is safe for me too! This moisturiser is also perfect for a post-bath massage.

It may be small in size and in price but the ecostore Baby Soap Goat’s Milk & Lavender (RRP $2.99, 80g) is by far one of my best finds. This soft, creamy and natural soap is ideal for our older kids who wash hands countless times a day, there is no allergic reaction like they experience with many popular liquid handsoaps (and a block of soap is a lot less wasteful) plus I know they won’t be transferring yucky chemical nasties when they touch our tiny newborn.

To be honest I think the ecostore Nappy Balm (RRP $9.99, 60ml) could do with a new name, as this little jar of magic can be used for so many more things than red bottoms. Yes it does work wonders for nappy rash, but it can also bring welcome relief for cradle cap and other little skin problems, it is one of my first go-to products when our children’s skin is playing up. ecostore Nappy Balm is a wonderful non-greasy, non-staining barrier cream that helps protect your baby’s skin the natural way.

What can I say, you don’t know the true luxury of a relaxing warm shower until you find yourself without hot water. Recently our hot water system broke down unexpectedly which left our family of seven out in the cold, literally. But tough as they are even a chilly shower doesn’t stop my tribe from getting clean and scrubbing up while putting the newest ecostore products to the test:

Designed with the young, sensitive skin of children in mind the brand new ecostore Kids range is guaranteed to get your precious little ones squeaky clean and smelling delicious without exposing them to hidden nasties. The ecostore Kids range is safer for you and safer for the world we live in, so it’s a double win! Did you know ecostore uses unique biodegradable renewable sugarcane plastic packaging? It’s just another way they show they care.

From the top of their head to the tips of their wiggly toes, ecostore Kids Foam to the Max (RRP $9.99, 350ml) is sure to get the thumbs up from everyone. As a mum I love the practical 3-in-1 concept (shampoo, conditioner and body wash), the handy pump flacon (one pump is plenty and no waste) and of course the safe plant and mineral based formula that cleanses gently yet thoroughly. At the same time kids love the generous foam for extra bath time fun and the pleasant Pear Pop or Fruity Zing fragrance.

No matter how old you are, we all love the luxurious feeling of sinking into a big sea of bubbles. A little squeeze of ecostore Kids Double Trouble Bubble Maker (RRP $9.99, 400ml) in your bath water is enough to create a fun foam frenzy that will win over even the biggest bath hater. Just keep the bottle away from little hands because they’ll keep wanting to go back for more! Bonus: The Pear Pop scent is absolutely scrumptious.

Now I haven’t tried out this special kids hand soap myself just yet, but the word on the street is that ecostore has successfully made hand washing cool again with the new ecostore Kids Foam it Up (RRP $9.99, 350ml). One bottle of this super soap lasts an enormous 500 pumps, that’s a lot of toilet trips and excellent value for money. The gentle natural formula is safe for little ones aged 2+, putting an end to sticky fingers and greasy hands without using nasty chemicals.

These five fabulous ecostore Kids products are now available at Chemist Warehouse stores across Australia as well as the Chemist Warehouse online store.
