OZ Baby Trends

With breastfeeding once again being the topic of conversation, this time thanks to a proud and confident mama on The Voice, it seems like the perfect time to introduce you to two fantastic breastfeeding products from OZ Baby Trends:

The Breastvest has been created by and for mums to take the hassle out of breastfeeding in public. The design is simple but effective: the singlet shaped garment covers your tummy so you don’t leave skin exposed when you lift your top to breastfeed your baby yet it leaves your nursing bra easily accessible for quick and convenient feeding when out and about. Instead of buying expensive breastfeeding clothing you can turn all your ordinary tops into a nursing garment with one simple singlet, how awesome is that?

A few weeks ago we asked one of our lovely Hip little one readers to put the Breastvest to the test and here’s what she has to say about this innovative product:

Breastvest in use‘What a great invention the Breastvest is! As a breastfeeding mum of a 9 month old, no matter what it’s hard to not feel self conscious about your post baby figure. I feel the Breastvest has given me more confidence in those times I have needed to feed my son in public, as barely any flesh can be seen at all. The material is very light weight so it is great to wear under your favourite tops without it being seen. Also, in these colder months it is great to keep you warm whilst feeding especially those early morning feeds.

I have been able to wear all of my normal pre-baby tops since I have been using the Breastvest, which is a huge relief as I have really struggled to find breastfeeding tops that I have liked or without spending a small fortune.

Breastvest ReviewThe quality of the Breastvest is great. I like the fact the product scoops to fit just below the nursing bra so you don’t have to mess around too much with your top when trying to feed a hungry bubs. The material is very durable and has been through the wash numerous times without a problem. It hasn’t lost it shape or developed any signs of balling. The material is very soft and feels nice against the skin.

The sizing chart was great and I found that the measurements were a perfect fit for my size. I like that the Breastvest is long enough to cover your whole tummy and gives enough stretch for the post pregnancy tummy.

I feel that the Breastvest is great value for money and an essential piece of clothing for the breastfeeding mum. It’s practical for the everyday mum and it’s lightweight enough that you don’t even realise you are wearing it.’

The Breastvest ($29.95) is available in black and white and comes in the sizes XS to XL, to determine the correct size for you please refer to the Breastvest size chart.

Our wonderful reviewer also tried out the new Pop-In Breast Pads by Close Ltd. As designers of the famous Pop-In cloth nappy they know all about absorbency, washability and natural fabrics and they have combined these great features in their reusable nursing pads. One of the things that sets their design aside from similar products on the market is the unique shape, created to follow the natural curves of the breast it fits better and reduces the chance of visible lines.

Pop-In Breast PadsDon’t be fooled by the slim size, not visible to the naked eye the pads actually consist of three layers: on one side a fast-wicking polyester that takes away the wetness from the skin and on the other side a full layer of waterproof laminate, sandwiched together by an absorbent soya bean fabric core well known for its natural absorbency, softness and thermo-regulating properties. Our reviewer shares her honest opinion on the Pop-In Breast Pads:

Pop-In Nursing Pads‘As someone who has mostly used bamboo breastpads I have actually found the popin breastpads great. They are super soft and because they are slim they are very discreet. The breastpads are great value for money as there are three pairs in the pack, as well as a mesh laundry bag to protect the product in the wash. I have found the pads to be quite absorbent and have had no leaks onto my clothing. All in all a great product for the breastfeeding mum!’

The Pop-In Breast Pads by Close Ltd ($24.95) are available as a 6-pack: one pair to wear, one pair to wash and one pair to spare; a free mesh laundry bag is included.

Now that baby Sybil is 6 months old it is time to say goodbye to those (now baggy) maternity clothes that have been hogging my wardrobe. I may still have a few kilos to lose but they say slow and steady wins the race so I am trying to give it time. Because I am breastfeeding I have been wearing my maternity/nursing bras and singlets but without that beautiful baby belly they have become a little too roomy and that doesn’t do much for your confidence. I recently discovered a perfect solution at La Mami: the BabyOno Nursing Singlet.

BabyOno Nursing SingletI am sure you have all seen nursing singlets before but this clever piece of underwear really offers the best of both worlds. On the one hand this seamless Nursing Singlet ($79) by Polish brand BabyOno is comfortable, hypoallergenic, flexible and super soft and the simple drop cups allow for easy feeding access. On the other hand it offers great shapewear functionality, pulls everything together, supports your breasts and tummy muscles and keeps all those lumps and bumps tightly in place. Double win!

BabyOno Nursing Singlet WhiteI’ll be honest, when I took the BabyOno Nursing Singlet out of the box my first thought was that it was way too small. Thinking there was no way I would ever fit in that neat black top I put it aside, but later I decided to try my luck anyway and I was pleasantly surprised. Once I wrestled my way in I immediately fell in love with this singlet, it fits like a glove and smoothes everything out beautifully. I will definitely be buying the other colours too.

BabyOno Maternity Nursing BraThe current BabyOno range consists of a Maternity/Nursing Bra, Maternity Brief, Nursing Singlet and Post Natal Belly Band. Styles are available in three classic colours: black, neutral and white, for sizing please refer to individual products. BabyOno products are proudly made in Poland using high quality materials. You can find BabyOno and many other great European brands in store at Australian boutique La Mami.

During the month of September Hip little one readers can enjoy an exclusive 15% off storewide at La Mami, as well as FREE shipping Australia wide and FREE gift wrapping, it doesn’t get much better than that! Simply enter the code ‘HIPLITTLEONE’ at checkout, offer ends September 30, 2013.

Knitted BlanketIf you love what you see at La Mami, make sure you give the La Mami Facebook page the big thumbs up and you may just win a beautiful knitted blanket (valued at $99) for your little one. These classic knitted blankets are the perfect size for in the pram or car and as they are made from 100% cotton they are breathable and soft, ideal for the summer ahead. You may remember that I wrote before about my oldest daughter and her obsession with undies. Somehow they seem to be the most important part of her wardrobe and she loves trying on all her little flower print undies one after another. One could argue that underwear is not meant to be seen so it doesn’t matter how it looks but she most certainly disagrees. Underwear has to tick her style boxes too and when I spotted the gorgeous Bluebelle range at Sustainababy I knew I had found a winner.

Designed in Australia Bluebelle underwear is made from 95% organically grown bamboo cotton (and a touch of spandex for that extra stretch!), making it a perfect choice for the eco-friendly Sustainababy store. The adorable Bluebelle underwear sets ($24.95, size 1-7) consist of a sweet singlet decorated with a rosette or bow and frilly knickers (bloomers for size 1), don’t they look gorgeous?
