As I browse our holiday photos and see our children enjoying family time it amazes me once again how different the five of them are. Even though they are siblings and share certain features they have such unique personalities and they’re all wonderful and special in their own way. This gorgeous picture book by Jennifer Higgie is a lovely celebration of what makes your little one different:

theres-not-one

As you can imagine life with five kids is full of adventure, I am not surprised people regularly tell me I should write a book about our family and all the fun, crazy, weird, hilarious things my kids get up to. When I discovered this adorable picture book by the talented Riikka Jäntti it felt like she wrote it with our Sybil in mind, it perfectly describes my days with a very, very, VERY cheeky 3-year old:

Little Mouse book

Little Mouse (RRP $17.99) is an absolutely gorgeous children’s book with whimsical illustrations that will remind you of a classic read from your childhood. He may be small in size but this tiny mouse has a rather big personality (or should I say attitude?) that is keeping Mama Mouse on her toes all day, does that sound familiair to you?

Little Mouse 1

Even though his vocabulary is limited, he has definitely mastered the word ‘No’ which happens to be miss Sybbie’s favourite word too. Whether it’s time to get dressed, eat his veggies at dinnertime or brush his teeth, if Little Mouse is not in the mood he’ll let everyone know. It’s a busy day with daycare, shopping, playing games, colouring in, reading books and much more, no wonder little mouse is tired at the end of the day (and I am guessing so is Mama Mouse).

Little Mouse 2

This sweet book is delightful in its simplicity and a real joy to read and look at. Most children will recognise and relate to some or all of little mouse’s activities from their own day, making it an excellent conversation starter for families with young children. We already got lots of giggles with every ‘No’ and had fun spotting things on the pages, a fantastic addition to our bookshelf and lovely gift idea.
