Pan

Christmas Countdown – Day 23

Are you looking for ways to add some adventure to your Christmas holidays? Get ready for a big dose of edge-of-your-seat excitement with Pan, hitting Australian shelves today:

Pan DVD

If you have always wondered how that bold and cheeky boy called Peter Pan ended up in Neverland you’ll find the answer in Pan, a fantasy filled live-action movie (PG-rated) featuring popular actors like Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Rooney Mara and Garrett Hedlund.

Pan Lost Boys PNG

Before Peter Pan arrived in Neverland he was just an ordinary boy called Peter, living a hungry, miserable life in a London orphanage and dreaming of the day his mother will return to bring him home. Then one night a group of wild pirates lifts the lost boys off their beds and they find themselves on board of a flying pirate ship…

Pan Neverland PNG

After a wild ride they arrive in the magical world of Neverland, where Peter and the other lost boys are made to work in the mines and collect precious pixie dust for the scariest pirate of them all: captain Blackbeard. With intense fighting and pirates that appear to come straight out of nightmares Pan is definitely not a movie for the faint hearted (after watching it ourselves hubby and I decided our crew, aged 7 and under, would probably never sleep again so we’ve put the movie on hold for a little longer).

Pan Pirate Ship PNG

Battling his way through Neverland, together with his new friends Tiger Lily and James Hook, Peter learns about his past, finally uncovers the truth about his beloved mother and discovers his own destiny: the secret of ‘Pan’.

‘Pan’ is available on DVD (RRP $39.95) and Blu-ray (RRP $44.95) at major retailers across Australia.

Penguin Australia

I don’t know about you but I try to stay up-to-date with what my kids are reading and always do a quick parent check of the books they bring home. On several occasions I have sent them back to the school library with the books they borrowed, simply because I felt they were not suitable. Strangely enough it’s the stories that are a little scary and very disgusting that are particularly appealing to kids, especially our son loves a bit of a thrill. If you’re looking for a kids read that satisfies that need for excitement yet is completely innocent look no further than Will Mabbitt‘s latest release:

Mabel Jones

In ‘The Unlikely Adventures of Mabel Jones’ we follow Mabel, as she gets taken from her quiet bedroom in the midst of the night and is child-bagged by a bunch of quirky pirates. How did Mabel end up on board of the Feroshus Maggot you may wonder? Well, Mabel was spotted doing ‘the deed’: the ceremonial picking of her nose and consuming the retrieved bogeys. Her fate was determined by this simple action and now she is doomed to walk the greasy pole of certain death…

Mabel always says she is not scared of anything but will she still be so bold when meets the pirate crew?
