Counting down

The countdown is on!

Every morning the kids cross out another square on our holiday countdown calendar and with only 54 squares to go I am getting a little nervous. As you know I have been preparing the kids’ backpacks with lots of fun stuff to keep them busy on the plane and I have also slowly started packing the suitcases with a big stash of beautifully wrapped gifts for our family, plenty of summer clothes and of course swimmers because we are really hoping for a decent European summer.

Just 5 more suitcases to pack

Just 5 more suitcases to pack

Some people would say I’m crazy packing this early but I like being organised and it gives me a feeling of being in control, knowing that there is still plenty of time to go over the contents, pack any missing items and buy new bits and bobs if needed. I am glad I made a start already as I quickly realised that all the kids (and dad too) could do with some new undies, socks and pyjamas for the holiday.

Bonds 4-pack SocksIt turns out the timing was perfect as Bonds is currently running a Mid Season Sale with great discounts on babies and kids items, now that’s a nice saving when you’re buying for a big family like ours! I think $5.98 for 4 pairs of children’s socks (RRP $12.98, now 50% off) is a pretty awesome price, at the moment most sizes are still available and you can choose from a boys (blue, green, grey) or girls set (pink, purple, grey).

Bonds trackieI also picked up a pair of these sweet $10 trackies (RRP $19.95) for my little ladies, I even scooped up some similar ones in my size! Because we are flying overnight (and I keep my fingers crossed the kids will sleep at least a few hours!) I want to make sure they are comfortable and warm. Planes can get quite chilly and these track pants look really cosy and cute at the same time, plus they’re great for quick toilet breaks.

Bonds DressNow I know I wasn’t really supposed to buy any more summer clothes but how could I walk away from this gorgeous chevron dress? At a tiny $10 (RRP $19.95) it was a bargain I couldn’t resist and the girls will love wearing it to the beach, out shopping or during our trip to Disneyland Paris. If you’re like me and you hate paying full price you can always find fabulous deals and discounts on kids products at Cuponation.

I better keep ticking off that packing list, not long to go, not long at all!

As I child I remember watching The Lion King on video and being completely overwhelmed by the enormity of it all; the sight of all those animals, the music, we just loved it. Years later I was lucky enough to attend the musical The Lion King in theater, although I was not a child anymore the story was not less impressive, in fact, I was even more in love with it and I still get goosebumps listening to the recording of the musical.

If you missed out on seeing The Lion King back then (or you just want to relive the experience) or if you would love to share this beautiful story with your children you are in luck because yesterday The Lion King has been released on Disney 3D and Blu-ray High Definition, available for a limited time only. The award winning story has been restored and remastered for an even more amazing movie experience the whole family can enjoy. My kids immediately fell in love with the songs and Hakuna Matata is their new favourite slogan.

The Lion King tells the tale of lion cub Simba, destined to take over from his father as king, who runs away from his Uncle Scar and his home with the intention of never coming back. But luckily he meets the hilarious Timon and Pumbaa and after going on plenty of fun and exciting adventures with his new friends he returns to take his rightful place, after all, he is the real king of the jungle.

To celebrate the release of The Lion King on DVD one lucky Hip little one reader will be spoiled with a funtastic 8-pce The Lion King prize pack valued at $144. It is filled with great prizes for the whole family:

  • The Lion King Diamond Edition Blu-ray and DVD
  • The Lion King Soundtrack CD
  • The Lion King Book and CD
  • The Lion King CD Read Along Book
  • The Lion King Puzzle 48 piece
  • The Lion King Plush 16cm
  • The Lion King Shaped Board Book
  • The Lion King Mini Collection Activity & Storybook

The Lion King (rated G) is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and 3D Blu-ray, prices start from $39.99.

For your chance to win the fabulous The Lion King Prize Pack watch the movie trailer from The Lion King and answer the following question: Which animal pictured in the movie trailer do you like most and why?

Submit your answer by leaving a comment below, your email address will not be published.
