Worlds Apart

After what feels like a very long week I am so glad it is finally weekend. I missed out on a Mother’s Day sleep-in last week so hopefully I can sneak in a snooze today or tomorrow. Getting our cheeky Sybil to stay in bed once we’ve put her down is not always easy but with a few little tricks we’re finally getting there. Our new helper is pink, totally adorable and loves jumping in muddy puddles, any guesses on what could it be?

Peppa 1

This gorgeous Worlds Apart Go Glow Buddy was received with open arms by our biggest Peppa Pig fan. In fact, when she opened up her new night light she wanted to go to bed immediately even though it was only midday. Who wouldn’t if they had a cute bedtime pal like this to light up the room and keep them company?

Peppa 4

The Peppa Pig Go Glow Buddy (RRP $39.95, ages 2+) is designed with little people in mind, she is easy to hold, lightweight, soft to touch and simple to use. Not only is she a sweet night light that gives a warm, pinkish glow, if you pick her up she instantly turns into a clever torch with a bright beam shining from the bottom (perfect for playing blanket forts, treasure hunts and shadow puppets).

Peppa 2

The Go Glow Buddy is cordless so you can easily move it around and works on 3AAA batteries. When in nightlight mode Peppa will automatically switch off after 15 minutes to save you battery, 5 minutes when in torch mode. She can be turned back on by pressing a simple button underneath. Sybbie can carry Peppa from room to room and take her along for midnight bathroom breaks, very handy.

While Sybbie is chuffed to now be sharing a room with her two older sisters (imagine the chatter at night!) she does still come out of bed regularly. We are trying to make her feel at home in her new bed with her favourite teddies, a musical toy and a sweet light to keep her company. On my search for the perfect night light I stumbled upon these cuties at Fairy Blossom & Friends:

Delight Decor Ice Cream

The scrumptious looking Ice Cream Nights Lights ($19.95) by Australian company Delight Decor are battery operated and cool to touch, so they make a great portable buddy for midnight toilet trips. Measuring 14cm hight and made from durable non-toxic plastic these lovely lights are perfect for little hands. I might have to get all three colours for the three sisters!

Toadstool Night LightThere are several other Delight Decor night lights to choose from so you will have no trouble finding a look to suit your child’s bedroom or nursery. Smiley pears or tropical pineapples, a friendly bunny or a magical toadstool, which one is your favourite? I love how they turn a night light into an eye-catching decor piece: during the day a stylish bedroom accessory and a comforting glow at night.

Christmas Countdown – Day 1

As a child I used to love a beautiful snow globe and to be honest I still do. The delightful sight of hundreds of little snowflakes, glitters and sparkles falling down never gets boring so I am not surprised my children love it too. This magical time of year calls for a truly magical gift, so we’re starting our Christmas Countdown in style with this gorgeous prize from Where Did You Get That?:

Djeco Night Light Fawn

These whimsical Djeco Night Lights (RRP $64.95) would make a stunning decor piece in a child’s bedroom or nursery (in fact I would quite like one myself too…) that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Djeco Night Light BallerinaDon’t worry, there is no shaking involved. The Djeco Night Lights are battery operated so the glitter will keep floating around thanks to a super quiet fan while your little ones drifts off to sleep watching the magical effects of the rainbow colours and moving glitters on the bedroom wall. You can limit the playing time with the handy timer to preserve batteries and keep the room dark overnight.

Djeco Night Light FishThere are currently three different Djeco Night Lights to choose from: green Fawn, aqua Fish and pink Ballerina, they’re all equally sweet so I bet our lucky winner will have a hard time picking a favourite. If you would like to place one of these pretty night lights under the Christmas tree this year you better be quick, the first delivery sold out in less than 2 hours so they’re hot property!

Ruben+Kosch

Eco friendly, stylish, innovative and last but not least very cute, I am totally in love with Cliques. This fabulous concept by Australian designer Nicholas Koschade may still be a work in progress but I am convinced it will be huge hit. Check out the video below and be (literally) delighted:

Angel CliquesThe more the merrier definitely applies to Cliques. As soon as two Cliques units touch hands they light up and you can connect as many Cliques as you like. My kids would love some of these illuminating buddies to light up their bedroom! Using high quality LEDs (very eco friendly) Cliques supply over 12 hours of continuous light, after which they can simply be recharged via your computer’s USB port or even your iPod/iPad/iPhone charger. Of course they won’t get hot and there are no loose parts so they are completely safe.

Ninja CliquesHowever Cliques are not just a practical light source, they also spread the important social message of friendship, shared interests and teamwork, how cool is that? There will be a whole wardrobe full of Cliques gear available, from clothing to headpieces and from prints to seasonal dress ups. I especially love the fact that kids can even draw on their blank boy or girl Cliques and create their own unique design, they can change their Cliques’ look as often as they like.

Panda CliquesTo find out more about Cliques and to help speed up the production process by contributing to this great project visit www.indiegogo.com/projects/join-the-clique. If you make a small donation of $5 or $20 you are making this talented designer very happy AND you are in the draw to win your own set of Cliques plus two character outfits of your choice. Our three oldest children were always happy to sleep in their cot. Wrapped up nice and snug, cot mobile with light show on and off they went without fuss. And then came baby no.4, a gorgeous little girl who will sleep anywhere but in her own bed. She often moves from room to room with us and a ‘portable’ sleeper calls for a portable light show too, cue Pillow Pets Dream Lites.

imagesCA2PF11XWith the simple touch of a button the new Pillow Pets Dream Lites turn a boring bedroom into a beautiful star filled sky. If your child is not too fond of the dark a Pillow Pets Dream Lite will be an ideal bed buddy. Kids can easily turn on the magic themselves as there is only one button, conveniently located on top, and they can even change the colour of the stars by pressing it multiples times.

Unlike our neighbours’ dogs the soft brown Snuggly Puppy is nice and quiet and our little lady loves staring at all the stars on the ceiling and even the walls, there are lots and lots of them and they’re actually surprisingly bright. Dream Lites work on 3 AAA batteries and to make your batteries last a little longer you can use the 20-minute sleep timer.

Last month we spent a few days in a rented holiday house close to the beach and had a fantastic time. After our first get-away experience in July I was not as worried about the kids sleeping in a strange environment but you never know how things will go. This time the twins got their very own bedroom with two bunk beds which they thought was very exciting. I am sure the combination of tiring play at the beach and their own selection of things from home is the reason why they slept brilliantly. Of course we took the BabyZoo Sleep Trainer Clock (because no one likes getting up early, especially not on a holiday) as well as their BabyZoo Night Lights from Parents Like Us.

Of course the BabyZoo Night Light ($29.90, available in green and pink), also known as Gus the Turtle, looks absolutely adorable and any child who has seen the move Finding Nemo will love getting their own little turtle buddy. However there is more to this night light than just the looks. These lights are battery operated (2x AA) so you won’t need a power point (perfect for on trips and holidays!) and they don’t get warm so kids can safely hold their glowing friend in their little hands.

My kids have always slept with a night light and I know it comforts them to watch the light when they go to sleep or wake up during the night. The BabyZoo Night Light switches on by pressing the turtle’s shell and switches off by pressing it again so it’s easy for the kids to do themselves (saves mum having to go in!). The four different time settings allow the light to stay on for 10, 20 or 30 minutes or even all night through, until turned off.

Parents Like Us offers a carefully selected range of items, picked by and for parents just like us. The store is relatively new and the range is purposely kept small, focusing only on hip, innovative baby essentials that you won’t find in every store. One of their opening specials is 30% off selected Cherub Baby products. You can pick up a 2-pack of Colour Changing Natribottles for just $21.95 (RRP $31.95), they change colour when the milk is too hot for your baby (how easy!) and of course they are BPA free.

To find out more about Parents Like Us, to browse the range and to order online visit www.parentslikeus.com.au. Australian orders over $50 are shipped free of charge.
