Cocobella Kids

As you may remember a few weeks ago we drove to Melbourne to attend a special Kids Business event for families. It was so much fun walking around the Bloggers BBQTM and discovering new products with my own miniature testers. I think we can safely say that if our four kids try to squeeze out every last drop AND go back for seconds it’s a winner and Cocobella Kids definitely got the thumbs up.

Cocobella Kids drinks

Unless you have been living under a rock you have probably heard of coconut water, a naturally refreshing drink that is extremely popular with health conscious people worldwide. It’s not often that I think children should copy a ‘grown-up’ trend but in this case I think there are great benefits for kids to be had. The makers of Cocobella, Australia’s leading coconut water, realised this too and have come up with Australia’s first children’s coconut water drink; meet Cocobella Kids.

Cocobella Kids 3-packCocobella Kids is a lunch-box-friendly and healthy coconut water drink for kids made from 70% coconut water, 30% fruit juice and absolutely nothing else. Cocobella Kids is available in a convenient 200ml Tetra-Pak (BPA-free) and comes in two yummy fruit flavours: Apple Berry Breeze and Tropical Island. You can find Cocobella Kids (RRP $3.49 per 3-pack) at your local Woolworths supermarket.

With about 50% less sugar than most kids juices Cocobella Kids is a fantastic healthy alternative to the fruity drinks many children are currently drinking (you don’t have to take my word for it, check out the comparison chart to see how Cocobella Kids stacks up against popular kids juices). On top of that Cocobella Kids is naturally rich in electrolytes so it helps keep active kids in top shape throughout the day. You can safely pack a Cocobella Kids drink in your child’s bag without having to worry about added sugar, colours, flavours, additives or preservatives: happy kids AND happy mum.

As Hip Little One’s 5th birthday is coming closer I am really starting to feel the birthday spirit. When you are a work-at-home-mum every year you succeed is a victory in itself and it gives you such a sense of pride. But I’m not the only one celebrating a milestone, over the past few years Sustainababy owner Laura Trotta has built a fantastic eco-store and extremely valuable eco-parenting blog that help many modern parents live a little (or a lot) greener. This month Sustainababy is turning 4 and you get to join the birthday celebrations:

Save 20% storewide at Sustainababy, simply enter the code ‘4thBIRTHDAY’ at checkout. Offer ends June 27, 2014, and excludes bulk value packs and furniture.

From eco friendly baby gear to organic clothing, from wooden toys to cloth nappies, from reusable feeding products to organic skincare and much more, Sustainababy offers green alternatives to many of your everyday family needs. In store you will find a range of excellent Australian and international brands that are great quality, durable and practical as well as (not unimportant) stylish.

Sustainababy Lunch

With the school holidays around the corner you are about to get a break from packing lunches every day so now is the perfect time to take a closer look at your child’s drink bottle and lunch box. Upon closer inspection you may discover that there are many hard (if not impossible) to clean corners, grooves and ridges perfect for germs to hide in. The plastic lunch box and drink bottle that your child uses daily could also be leaking BPA into food and drinks, not a very pleasant thought. Ditch the ‘not sure’ and go for pure with these hip and healthy mealtime products, use the birthday discount code and save yourself a welcome 20%.

Flip Lid

Last year when the twins were at kindy I always gave them two sandwiches for lunch and a piece of fruit for snack time, a habit I continued when they started reception this year. However it wasn’t long before I noticed they were very hungry after school so I have been increasing their lunch and snacks, clearly learning and playing at the big school makes you ravenous! If you’re looking for a fun and practical way to pack all these snacks and yummy lunch in one handy lunch box it’s time to upgrade to Flip Lid:

Flip Lid

While preparing lunches for her kids Australian mum-of-two Samantha realised that the times of a simple square lunchbox are long gone, she decided to give the old-school lunchbox a modern make-over with a funky and exciting new look. The cleverly designed Flip Lid lunchbox will put the fun back in lunch time with a refreshing flip, turn, open, close design.

Flip Lid RedThe Flip Lid lunchbox ($24.95) is a generously sized lunchbox that consists of two halves that connect on the side. Kids can open it and close it, flip it and turn it to discover what’s for lunch that day. From each of the four sides they can access different compartments making lunch full of surprises. There are 6 sections in total: two big compartments perfect for sandwiches, wraps or salad and four smaller compartments to store a muesli bar, some fruit, crackers, vegetables or other snacks.

Black Flip LidCompared to most other lunch boxes on the market the Flip Lid offers loads of storage space and as each compartment closes individually foods won’t spill into each other. As a bonus the Flip Lid comes with a little snack container and a small drink bottle/freezer block that fit perfectly in the side compartments, I personally think the drink bottle is too small for my children so we use it as a freezer block instead.

Flip Lid lunch boxes are free from BPA and phthalate free and while hand wash is preferred they are dishwasher safe (top rack only). The larger size and the funky look make Flip Lid an ideal choice for older children. There are currently 6 great colours available to suit both boys and girls of all ages.

Hippo Blue

With only one term of kindy to go it is time for our beautiful twins to get ready for the big school. Uniforms and hats, backpacks and lunchboxes, school shoes and much much more, there is plenty to organise and of course it all comes with a price tag. When I see the ‘lost and found’ box in the hall I am determined never to have to dig in there for something from my kids. I already regularly give them a good talking to about looking after your belongings and I hope that by clearly marking all their items I am reducing the risk even more.

Hippo Blue BackpackIf your kids are anything like mine they’ll each want to pick their own name labels and no, you can’t get away with just your family name for all of them! Hippo Blue supplies Australian families with a large range of personalised products in stylish designs at hard-to-beat prices. A different name, a different colour, a different design and even a different font, at Hippo Blue there are more options than you can count so the kids will have no trouble finding something that floats their boat.

Hippo Blue Lunch BagWhen I asked my little lady if she would like to pick a new Hippo Blue Lunch Bag ($29) for school her whole face lit up, she was so excited and we had lots of fun checking out all the styles in store. Eventually she decided on this sweet Bird Group design, not to forget the ‘love heart on the i’ (probably the most important feature of all when you are 3). Just a few days later her lunch bag arrived on our door step and it is absolutely perfect.
