Christmas Countdown – Day 21

From Care Bears to Cabbage Patch Kids all the way to the Mini SNES, who doesn’t love a good childhood come-back? Back in the nineties the Teletubbies took the world by storm and this year they’ve returned to win a whole new generation of little fans including our little Hattie:

With just a quick push on her tummy the soft and snuggly Teletubbies Lullaby Laa-Laa (RRP $59.99, ages 18 months+) turns tears and tantrums into twinkles by decorating the nursery wall or ceiling with a colourful light show. It’s so easy even little tots can do it!

Not only is loveable yellow Teletubby Laa-Laa super soft, huggable and beams the most beautiful lights, she also helps little sleepyheads peacefully drift away by playing the famous Twinkle Twinkle Little Star tune. You can set Laa-Laa to sing for 5, 10 or 15 minutes or you can choose to use her as a reassuring night light only which turns off automatically. Laa-Laa makes a wonderful bedtime buddy for young children who could do with some reassurance in the dark.

Measuring just 8cm tall (or should I say tiny?) there is always room for a cute Teletubbies Deluxe Collectible Figure (RRP $10.99, ages 3+) or two in your child’s Christmas stocking. They are a perfect size for small hands and mama’s handbag and sure to keep little Teletubbies fans content if you are travelling these summer holidays. The only question is which one to get, or maybe just collect all five!

If you have always wanted to take a look inside the Home Hill Dome here’s your chance. Tasty Tubby toast that pops up, the Noo-Noo cleaner that slurps as it moves, a working lift, spinning seats and much more… there is plenty to see and do in this awesome Teletubbies Superdome Playset (RRP $79.99, ages 18 months+). With so many cool features and fun sounds this would have to be the ultimate Christmas gift for all Teletubbies lovers.

These Teletubbies products are now available at your local Big W, Myer, Target, Kmart, Kid Stuff, Toyworld and Mr Toys store.

Sybbie and her pal Violet

Toys, Books & Movies  Comments Off on Sybbie and her pal Violet
Dec 282014

Our beautiful Sybbie is a very enthusiastic animal friend, but unfortunately not every pet is able to appreciate the tight hugs of a 1-year old. Luckily this adorable puppy loves her generous cuddles and the two of them make a very cute couple, meet Sybil’s new pal Violet:

Soft and cuddly My Pal Violet (RRP $39.99, ages 6-36 months) is without the doubt the smartest puppy on the block. Not only can she be personalised to know your child’s name and favourite things, she also talks, sings, counts, knows her colours and much more.

My Pal VioletIn a matter of minutes parents can teach this loveable pet all the must-know details about their child by simply connecting it to a computer or smart device, you don’t even have to take her out of the box which is particularly handy if you want to give My Pal Violet as a gift to a special little person. Depending on your child’s name Violet can say the name out loud or spell it, sadly our little Sybil did not make it to the list of prerecorded names but Violet is very good at spelling so it’s still lovely.

Our fussy eater only has two favourite foods (apples and cucumber) so judging by her happy clapping I think she is very pleased that Violet loves apples too. This customised experience is very sweet and it really grabs a child’s attention when they recognise their name or when they are asked a question.

With only 4 chunky buttons/paws (songs, lullabies, play and on/off) to choose from My Pal Violet is easy to manage for young children and small hands. My Pal Violet comes preloaded with five catchy songs and to keep things fresh and interesting there are an additional 30 downloadable songs available. Sybil’s favourites are Incy Wincy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, she looks like a little DJ pressing the paws until her fave tunes come on. The lullaby mode plays 5 minutes of sweet lullabies making Violet the perfect bedtime buddy.

My Pal ScoutMy Pal Violet is available in a gender neutral version too, gentle green giant My Pal Scout is just as soft and huggable and would make a fantastic gift idea for baby showers, new arrivals and birthdays. You can find both My Personalised Puppy Pal Scout and My Personalised Puppy Pal Violet in store right now at Kmart, Target, Big W, Toys’r’Us and independent toy stores across Australia.

Mar 022012

I remember reading about the Rockabye Baby concept quite some time ago and knowing that the Rockabye Baby albums are extremely popular all over the world I was keen to find out more. Many parents have already gathered a collection of Rockabye Baby titles so there must be something really special about them! In Australia the Rockabye Baby range is being distributed by Mother Hen Products, home to lots of exciting products for baby.

Rockabye Baby offers a brilliant balance between some of the world’s most loved rock songs and sweet lullabies, so you can put your baby to bed to the tunes of your favourite band. Big hits of The Beatles, Madonna, Bob Marley, AC/DC, Queen, The Rolling Stones and many other big bands have been transformed into baby friendly songs that are gentle on their ear drums (and as they are instrumental you don’t have to worry about them listening to inappropriate lyrics either).

As a child I always used to go to bed with music playing and all three of my kids have slept with music on from the minute they came home from hospital. A calming melody is the perfect way to drift off to sleep peacefully, it is not for no reason there are so many musical mobiles available for newborns. If the boring, repetitive, old school nursery rhymes are doing your head in Rockabye Baby might just be what you are looking for.

But babies are not the only ones who like the sound of Rockabye Baby. A few times I witnessed my husband put the CD in the CD player even though the kids were not around and he said he would love to fall asleep to it as it is very relaxing. It looks like Rockabye Baby has a calming effect on the whole family! Our top picks would be U2, The Beatles and Coldplay, but plenty of other titles left to add to our collection.

You can find Rockabye Baby albums ($29.95) at Baby Bunting, Toys’R’Us, selected JB Hifi stores, selected music retailers and gift stores across Australia and online.
