Last Sunday we took the kids for their first swimming lesson, quite an adventures when you have four children! With swimming season now in full swing we decided not to wait any longer and make sure our children are safe and confident in and around water, something that’s very important in Australia where everyone loves spending time in the water.

This year Australian icons The Wiggles and four-time Olympic gold medalist Libby Trickett have teamed up with SwimFin Australia to spread the water safety message amongst Aussie kids and what better way to get little people’s attention than with a catchy Wiggles song?

SwimFin RedSwimFin (RRP $39.95) is a unique, self-adjusting swimming aid that is set to change the way Aussie kids learn to swim. It looks awesome, gives kids confidence and is suitable for all ages (2+), abilities and strokes. Unlike many other floating devices the SwimFin does not impact on arm and leg movement so you can practise your swimming skills properly whilst feeling safe and supported knowing SwimFin has got your back.

SwimFin is available in 7 great colours to suit both boys and girls, this means all your children could stand out with a different colour (unless you’ve got a real big family of course!). This fantastic design is currently being sold in more than 80 countries worldwide and there are already over 300,000 SwimFins cruising pools, lakes, rivers and oceans, that’s a lots of colourful fins sticking out of the water!

As you can imagine bath time in our household is rather crazy, getting four kids showered, dried and dressed is hard work! For us it is a case of team effort: one parent goes in the shower and does the scrubbing, hair washing and rinsing, the other lays out all the pyjamas and takes care of the drying and hair brushing. We are lucky to have a double shower so we have plenty of room for four young water lovers and plenty of room for water play.

Tommee Tippee Bath Time

Many of you will know Tommee Tippee from its popular baby feeding products but there is much more to the range than that. You can also count on Tommee Tippee to help you wave goodbye to shower tantrums and put smiles on little faces with the gorgeous Tommee Tippee Bath Collection. There are lots of fun, colourful and playful bath toys to choose from, these are some of our favourites:

Tommee Tippee Bath Time StackOur 15-month old daughter is particularly keen on the Tommee Tippee Bathtime Stack & Float Fun Play (9 months+), the bright colours are very appealing to little eyes and the toys have interesting shapes. Using the simple suction caps you can attach the blue base to the side of the bath or shower so it stays in place, making it easier for young children to stack the toys on top of each other in the right order.

Tommee Tippee Bath Time AppliquesMiss 3 and Master 5 are great sharers and they love making up their own little games with the Tommee Tippee Bathtime Tub Appliques (24+ months). These cute sea creatures stick to your shower screen, bath tube or tiles with lots of teeny tiny suction cups that are surprisingly strong. Like the rest of the bath toy range they are BPA free, very reassuring when you have a baby who puts them in her mouth when you’re not looking.

Tommee Tippee Fishing NetNow officially this Tommee Tippee Fishing Net With Floatees (4 months+) may be designed for younger children but this is actually miss 5’s favourite bath toy. She is always collecting the little floaties in the shower and squirting water with them on the baby. Between all the kids they also sometimes play a matching game e.g. pink with pink, starfish with starfish. As you can tell our bath ritual is never boring and never quick!

Last week we spent four days in a holiday house near the beach and we had a fantastic time, the kids were so sad to leave as they loved going to the beach. Luckily we had beautiful weather and although it was too cold to swim they had a ball looking for shells and building sand castles with their Opa and Oma (grandparents) who came all the way from Holland. It was the first taste of sand and water for the baby and she absolutely loved it, by the time it is summer I doubt she will get out of the water unless I drag her out! To make sure she doesn’t get cold I might need a Konfidence Babywarma.

The Babywarma ($31.95) is designed to keep your baby warm (I am sure that doesn’t surprise you). It is like a mini wetsuit for little people, made of soft neoprene fabric that feels comfortable and snug whilst keeping out the chills. Babywarma’s are available in three sizes (2-7kg, 7-12kg and 12-16kg+) to guarantee a proper fit for your baby. The two smaller sizes are a handy wraparound style to make (un)dressing and nappy changes a breeze, even the shoulder straps are adjustable!

For older kids up to 7 years old there is the Kids Warma ($34.95) with choice of three sizes and five different colours to suit boys and girls. Both the Babywarma and Kids Warma can be worn in combination with a long sleeve UV rashie for extra protection when worn outside. Children often have so much fun they stay in the water even if they are getting cold and their lips turn blue, the Konfidence kids wet suits will help them to stay warm.

If you are a bit nervous about small kids and water (I know I am!) you will appreciate these cute blue and pink stripe float suits ($39.95). The 8 removable floats will help to keep your child safe and provide him/her with added confidence as they learn to swim, they also provide parents with peace of mind. As the confidence grows the floats can be removed to suit your indepent little swimmer.
