Our calendar for the remainder of the year is full of important dates, but some things are worthy of a big red circle and our upcoming visit to Santa’s Wonderland is definitely one of them. The kids are still treasuring their memories of last year and we can’t wait to add many more special moments this December. I previously told you why Santa’s Wonderland is the place-to-be for Adelaide families leading up to Christmas (read up here if you missed it) and I promised you a give away so here it is!

It’s clear to see why Santa’s Wonderland takes the crown as Adelaide’s biggest Christmas event and this year it is bigger and better than ever. Grab the kids, invite your family and bring along your friends to enjoy the magic of Christmas like you have never seen it before.

There is just so much to see and do: Wonder through the Traditional Family Christmas Land, explore the sparkling and slippery side of Ice Wonderland, admire the colours of Candy Land and most importantly, enjoy UNLIMITED rides for three whole hours! Expect to be swept away by the bright colours and the Christmas music, the beautiful decorations and the unique photo opportunities and of course keep an eye out for the big man himself…

If you’re a budget conscious parent like myself you’ll appreciate not having to pull your wallet for every ride, it’s all included in your ticket price. This make Santa’s Wonderland a fun and affordable outing for families with no costly surprises along the way, because we know the December month is expensive enough as it is.

Your all-access ticket includes 3 full hours of:
⭐️ Unlimited FREE Carnival Rides
⭐️ Unlimited Bouncy Castles and Ball Pits
⭐️Unlimited Ride-on Reindeer fun
⭐️ Unlimited Ice Skating
⭐️ Unlimited Ice Toboggan Slides

This year guests are in for an extra special treat as on top of the 90-minute long show a special surprise of epic proportions awaits…

As you enter the big top you’ll be transported back in time and find yourself surrounded by giant, life-like dinosaurs, don’t worry, they don’t bite! The ‘Jurassic Unearthed’ dinosaur exhibition is completely free with your Silvers Circus admission ticket and is full of cool creatures, fun facts and photo moments, which dinosaur is your favourite? The exhibition opens 1 hour prior to every show and you can stay as long as you like after the show too, now that’s a dinosaur-sized opportunity not to miss.

The most amazing artists from around the globe have been enrolled to make this year’s Silvers Circus tour a huge success. Little boys will be sitting on the edge of their seat watching 4 dare-devil riders conquer ‘The Globe of Death’ on their impressive motorbikes while little girls hold their breath as the beautiful Madeline shows off her skills on the Cloudswing high up under the big top.

Argentian artist Gypsy will have you scratching your head as she keeps a huge 80 hoops in the air, there is juggling, magic, unicycling and don’t forget the Wheel of Steel. Of course a circus wouldn’t be a circus without a hilarious clown performance so you can count on Dominik Gasser and his comedic friends to get visitors young and old roaring with laughter.

All these and many more fantastic acts will be expertly talked together by internationally renowned ringmaster Simon Tait. With more than 25 years of entertainment experience under his belt he will take the whole circus public on an unforgettable journey so that every single visitor will walk out with a precious memory to last a lifetime.

They are questions most parents, particularly those with boys, will be asked sooner or later: How big is a dinosaur? Can we go see a dinosaur one day? Normally the answer would be that it is hard to explain as you never seen a dinosaur before and sadly it is not possible to go see one either resulting in disappointed little faces. Well I’ve got news that will turn that frown upside down, check out Dinosaur Adventures:

Dinosaur Adventures Melbourne

After the enormous success of Dinosaur Adventures at the Royal Easter Show in Sydney it is now time for Melbourne dinosaur fans to get up close and personal with these intriguing creatures from the past. Get ready for an experience like no other at this mind blowing exhibition with the most amazing animatronics.

Dinosaur Adventures exhibition

Kids of all ages (and parents too) will have a blast visiting this interactive dinosaur event which transforms little visitors into expert paleontologists complete with outfit and digging tools. You get to dig out your own fossil, admire life size dinosaurs and eggs, listen to their roars and watch them move, do dinosaur craft, explore the dinosaur library and fossil display and so much more.

Dinosaur Adventures 2014

If there ever was a chance to step into this wondrous prehistoric world this is it, don’t miss it! Kids will talk about it for a long time to come and it’s a fantastic opportunity to turn something they only read about in books into something real and tangible. I bet many children walk away from Dinosaur Adventures wanting to learn all about this interesting topic or even cherishing a new dream to become a paleontologist one day.

Windmills, clogs, cheese and tulips, that’s what most people will think of when you mention my home country The Netherlands. What many Australians don’t know is that popular character Miffy is actually Dutch too! In Holland we know Miffy as Nijntje (comes from ‘konijntje’ which means little rabbit) and my half Dutch kids have lots of Nijntje books, CD’s and toys. Children all over the world have fallen in love with Dick Bruna’s Miffy so I am expecting lots of excited little faces when Miffy the Movie hits cinemas next month.

Miffy the Movie – in cinemas across Australia May 11 – 15

In Miffy the Movie everyone’s favourite bunny Miffy and her friends Melanie, Grunty and Snuffy are going on a treasure hunt in the zoo. They have to solve the five clues that Mother and Father Bunny have given them one by one. Along the way Miffy and her friends meet all kinds of animals and together they have a fun adventure.

Where can you go see Miffy the Movie?

After a very long and exhausting plane trip we finally made it back to Australia on Saturday morning. Previously we have always come back in summertime and were warmly welcomed by the dry, hot Adelaide weather and bright sun, this time we were unpleasantly surprised by the freezing winter cold. I can not believe how cold it is this year, the only thing missing is snow and frost on the windows! Of course the chances of outdoor snow and ice are still pretty slim here in Australia but luckily there is always the Medibank Icehouse in Melbourne to get your winterspirit up.

It is a shame we are not in Melbourne because I would most certainly take my three to experience the joy of ice skating. As a child I very much enjoyed ice skating in winter time and we couldn’t wait for the local lakes and streams to freeze over. I have very fond memories of skating with family and friends, the crunchy sound of the ice under the sledges and skates and hot chocolate afterwards to warm us up.

You can create your family’s very own winter memories too by visiting the Medibank Icehouse for some fun in the cold, there are loads of options available. From a playful skate intro for the wobbly little ones up to real figure skating, a game of ice hockey or disco skating, speed skating or birthday parties, there are classes and free skating times to suit everyone. Obviously skate hire can be organised on the spot so there is nothing to stop you from trying your stability on the ice.

To find out more about Medibank Icehouse, to discover all the exciting programs on offer and to check opening times visit

For your chance to win a Medibank Icehouse Family Pass (Melbourne only; 2 adults, 2 children and skate hire) valued at $72 visit and answer the following question: What is your favourite family outing for a cold winter day?
