If you are anything like me and shop mostly online you will agree with me that relying on photos can be dangerous. Especially now that I am shopping for maternity wear I get sucked in by professional product shots of super slim models with tiny bumps while in reality many mothers are a little ’rounder’ (putting it nicely!) with a baby onboard, especially when you are carrying baby no.5 like me. I like to keep things real here and I am not pretending to be that hot mama so no photo-shopping here, it’s me in all my frumpy but happy glory:

Madeleine Emma Dress

This stripey Emma Dress (RRP $120) by Madeleine Maternity has been one of my favourite purchases this pregnancy. It is super comfortable, soft and stretchy and washes well and I love how the wrap around tie accentuates my baby belly. After pregnancy the cross over top half allows for easy nursing access too. To keep my legs warm and toasty underneath I am wearing these simple but very versatile Over Belly Style Leggings ($10, bargain!) from Fertile Mind. I grabbed two pairs on sale and they are just perfect for wearing under tunics and dresses during the colder season, plus no see-through.

Isle of Charlie Ava

As you know I love running giveaways for my readers so to win something myself for a change was rather exciting. A few months ago I won this stunning Isle of Charlie Ava Baby Bag (RRP $319) from Szabo Maternity and I am still very much in love with it. The deep blue colour is very classy, the leather very luxurious and the generous size will allow me to bring all my baby gear with me when out and about. I can see this bag lasting well past the baby stage, thanks Szabo for making this mama feel extra special.

FRANKiE4 LiZ

I can’t tell you enough how much I love FRANKiE4, these LiZ Ankle Boots (RRP $285) are so supportive, strong and sturdy I will gladly wear them every day. Even now with my growing bump I feel comfortable and rock solid on the ground and not the tiniest twitch or pinch at all. Many women complain of sore feet during pregnancy but with either LiZ or JAMiE on my feet most days I have not had a single complaint yet and of course they look great too. The 70mm heel gives me a nice little lift so it makes me feel a bit less frumpy, bonus!

Fabrik Cable Cardigan

They say expecting mamas often feel warmer but I can’t say I am noticing that myself, I am very much feeling the cold this winter. This long Cable Cardigan (RRP $99.95) by Fabric is not really a maternity style but it does a great job keeping me warm and the black goes with most outfits so it’s very easy to mix and match. If you’re quick you can still pick one up at half price this long weekend!

Kiko+

After the busy Christmas period with late nights, noisy toys and too much food I love relaxing with my family, just calmly reading a book and playing a quiet game. If you are looking for a fabulous game that is fun, educational, unique and very stylish you are sure to love today’s hip find from Kiko+:

Kiko+ Tanabata

This super cool Tanabata Star Dominos Set ($65) by Japanse designer label Kiko+ consists of 100 smooth wooden stars: 70 coloured stars in 7 different colours and 30 natural beech stars marked with the number 0-9, packed together in a lovely golden bag. Stack them, sort them or count them, line them up and watch them fall or play a game of dominos by matching up the numbers, the options are endless!

It’s a great educational game too as you can use the stars to create your own simple maths exercises for young children. You can stack a pile of stars with the same colour, count them and find the natural beech star with the same number. You can also practise addition and subtraction in a creative and playful way, after all kids learn best when they are having fun!

Tanabata Star Dominos

You can find this pretty Tanabata Star Dominos Set in store at Fabrik, Australia wide shipping is $7.95 and orders over $100 ship free.

Fabrik

Earlier this week I wrote about the beautiful Maileg My Little Circus toys and it looks like the circus is a hot theme in fashion too. The beautiful new Fabrik winter collection has arrived in store at Skip to my Lou, it’s absolutely gorgeous and perfect for the special little lady in your life.

13-15

20-11The lovely Fabrik Circus Tee ($39.95, size 000-6) with its luscious layers of tulle frills is sure to get the thumbs up from stylish little girls. The Circus Tee combined with the divine Fabrik Odette Skirt ($59.95, size 2-6) is a match made in heaven, my two princesses would go crazy for it. If you already have a favourite printed party skirt the plain coloured top could just be the finishing piece you are looking for, it is available in pink, grey marle and white which will go with almost any colour.

8-15Of course the Fabrik Peter Pan Cardigan (currently on special for $46.20, size 2-6) is not your every day cardi but I think it is super cute (I have a soft spot for anything Peter Pan and am quite the dreamer myself). This sweet knitted cardigan with eye catching sequin collar is available in classic navy (my favourite!) and soft pink. There are many more unique Fabrik designs to choose from and if you hurry you could still pick up some half price summer designs.

A little while ago I told you that Ashlea, the lovely lady behind Skip to my Lou, was busy working on a new website and after a lot of hard work it is finally time for the big reveal. The new Skip to my Lou website does not only look gorgeous, it is easy to use and navigate too to make your shopping experience as enjoyable as possible. To celebrate the brand new look here’s a fabulous offer for you:

Get 20% off storewide at Skip to my Lou, simply enter the code ‘newlook’ at checkout. Grab a bargain while you can, offer valid until November 11, 2012.

A long, long time ago, before I had kids, I used to buy shoes and lots of them. Now there is not much time left to shop for myself and to be honest it is much nicer to shop for my kids anyway. This week I spotted these super cool kids shoes at Skip to my Lou and with the current 20% off storewide offer I couldn’t resist buying a pair for each of my little cherubs in different colours. The hip Native Jefferson Shoes are lightweight, washable, antimicrobial and odour resistant so ideal for active kids.

There are plenty of stylish threads to be picked up too with choice of great brands that are that little bit different like Fabrik. The Fabrik range feature gorgeous children’s designs designed in Australia by the very talented Sarah. I love her unique style and every garment is decorated with little surprises and quirky details. The hand printed Paradise Dress is perfect for little princesses with its ruffles, long length and royal golden finishes.

I am huge fan of the hip ESP No.1 label, I could easily buy every single style available. This cool brand makes fashionable, practical, easy to mix-and-match pieces in (mostly) unisex designs, ideal for hand me downs or sharing between siblings. This summer season brings some colourful basics with these green No.4 Jean Shorts being my favourite, a gorgeous fresh colour for both boys and girls.
