What can I say, I have reached absolute whale proportions and am struggling to find garments that will cover this basketball of a baby for the few weeks that are left. At least the weather has really warmed up here which does lift the spirits. Who would have thought we could go from winter coats and gumboots to a beautiful sandal-perfect Summer day in just one week? I love being able to wear my Saltwater Sandals again, even if my toenail polish looks a little less than perfect.

Normally our weekends are filled with family activities, lots of fun but also a little tiring when you’re growing a baby. This Saturday I had my most relaxing Saturday morning ever, courtesy of the mandatory Glucose Tolerance Test I sat down in a hospital chair for 2.5 hours of blissful peace and quiet. No interruptions, no noise, no nappies to change, no arguments to solve, no laundry to fold, just me and a good book… I could get used to that! During my past pregnancies I have always managed to pass the glucose test so let’s hope it will be smooth sailing this time too, fingers crossed. Don’t worry, when I got home I made up for lost time by making cookies with my lovely little tribe and pottering around in the garden. For those keeping track, here are this week’s Mama on Monday shots:

Black Shirt Dress (RRP $103, now $75) by Eve of Eden
Some of you may remember that I featured this dress (and its siblings in navy and chambray) on the blog before, back in 2013. I bought my first Eve of Eden shirt dress when I was expecting baby no.4 and loved it so much that I have bought two more since then. These dresses are so easy to wash and wear, they are stretchy, comfortable, timeless, flattering and even have nursing access via the front buttons. This time I am wearing mine with a plaited black belt but each dress comes with fabric belt to match so you can give some extra definition to your growing baby bump.

Over Belly Style Leggings ($10) by Fertile Mind
If you’ve been following the Mama on Monday series you know I have worn these everyday black leggings a lot, and at a bargain price like this I think they should be in any expecting mama’s wardrobe. If you’re yet to grab a pair be quick as I am sure stock won’t last!

And then it was time again to set the alarms in the morning, pull out the uniforms, prep the lunch boxes and think of a Show & Tell topic for today, Term 3 is here! Yesterday was an absolutely lovely sunny winter day so we finished our school holidays with a relaxing afternoon at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens. You can easily spend a few hours walking the gardens while the kids burn off some energy running the grass fields, explore the many different plants and flowers, climbs the trees, feed the birds and much more. Of course we brought our beloved Joolz ride along, just in case little legs got tired from all the fun. We ended the day with ice-cream for everyone so there were happy faces all around.

Maternity Sale

Christmas Countdown – Day 16

If you are lucky enough to be sporting a beautiful baby bump this Christmas you may be wondering where to go for a festive maternity frock that won’t cost a fortune. Three of our children were born in August so I missed out on a ‘pregnant Christmas’ those times, but with our youngest daughter I finally had the opportunity to show off my 8-month bump for this wonderful celebration in a gorgeous dress from Maternity Sale:

Maternity Sale casual

Australian store Maternity Sale is the home of Eve of Eden Maternity, a stylish range of maternity and nursing clothing that is high quality, affordable and on trend. From casual tops and pants to fabulous evening wear and from swimwear to underwear, if you are an expecting or breastfeeding mama Maternity Sale has got your wardrobe covered:

Lace Spot Maternity DressOne of my personal favourites is this gorgeous Lace Spot Maternity Dress ($76, size 8-16), blue is my favourite colour and this is just the most stunning shade. The eye catching lace detail is very feminine, I think it’s the perfect dress for a Christmas party or New Year’s Eve gathering. Made from 95% super soft bamboo and a touch of spandex for extra stretch it is gentle against the skin (yes, even the lace!), particularly important for those pregnant ladies with sensitive skin.

Eve of Eden Abricot Stripe DressNow I am a bit biased as I own this pretty Stripe Maternity Dress ($69, size 8-16) in a different colour from a previous season and love it, I used to get so many compliments when wearing it! This sweet new apricot colour way is nice and summery and would look lovely with some silver or white sandals. The cream belt visually breaks up the striped top from the plain skirt and accentuates your growing baby bump beautifully.

White Print Maternity BlouseIf you’re not into dresses and prefer a neat top that you can wear to work with a skirt or casual with jeans or shorts look no further than the classic White Print Maternity/Nursing Blouse ($53, size 8-16). The 100% cotton fabric is comfortable and breathable so it’s perfect for our Aussie summer. As this a maternity and breastfeeding friendly garment you will get lots of wear out of it making it a fantastic purchase at a bargain price.

With families hit hard by the newly released budget I know many of my readers are worried about money. Children are an enormous blessing and of course they’re worth every cent you spend on them but the simple reality is that raising kids is expensive. To help you shop smart and stay within your budget I send out a bunch of great offers every week in my weekly Sales, Saving & Giveaways newsletter and regularly share awesome bargains on the blog.

Eve of Eden Striped DressToday’s saver spotlight is on Eve of Eden, a wonderful Australian maternity and nursing wear label that offers mums-to-be all the looks for less. When you are expecting a new addition there are so many big expenses but thankfully your maternity wardrobe does not have to be one of them. Eve of Eden has got hip mums covered with a range of well priced maternity tops, dresses, pants, knitwear, skirts and more, with some designs even suitable for nursing too.

Eve of Eden Knitted PulloverThe Maternity Sale online store is well stocked all year around and at the moment you can find some great winter bargains in store like this Knitted V-Neck Maternity Pullover (was $79, now $31). This divine cornflower blue knit is a great way to add a bright touch to a cold and dark winter day, it’s simple and classy and the tie neckline adds a lovely touch. As with all garments some helpful sizing and fit information is included so you can be confident you’re buying the right size.

Eve of Eden Cable Knit CardiganThe Chunky Cable Knit Cardigan (was $98, now $59) is another toasty winter buy waiting to be snapped up. It would look fantastic with some stylish jeans or the Eve of Eden Cargo Pants (you can see me wearing them here) and a beautiful pair of boots. The neutral grey shade is easy to mix and match with other colours and you can wear the card open or closed, it’s a really versatile winter piece.

The perfect ‘post-baby’ dress

Like most mums I find it quite easy to find flattering clothes in winter, a good pair of jeans does wonders for a post-baby body and keeps everything nicely together. But now that summer has arrived I am becoming painfully aware of the fact that after four babies I need to work a bit harder to get back into shape. As I am still breastfeeding it is a slow process so I need to pick my wardrobe accordingly.

Chambray Shirt Dress by Eve of Eden

Chambray Shirt Dress by Eve of Eden

Those who know me will know that I love wearing dresses all year around and this summer I have two fabulous dresses on rotation. Last year when I was pregnant with baby no.4 I purchased a classic navy shirt dress by Australian fashion label Eve of Eden, designed for both pregnant and nursing mothers I wore it all the time and I still wear it a lot. When I spotted the same dress in black I immediately knew it would be a winner for my wardrobe so I didn’t think twice about ordering it again.

Black Shirt DressThe Black Shirt Dress ($75, size 8-16) is extremely versatile, on cooler days I wear it with leggings and boots and on warmer days all it needs it is a nice pair of sandals. The clever belt design allows you to accentuate your baby bump by wearing it under your bust but you can also wear it around your waist, there are no belt loops so you can change your look whenever you want. These dresses wash really well and the dark colour has a slimming effect (at least, that is what I tell myself!).

Chambray Shirt DressThis season also saw the arrival of a little summer sibling for the shirt dress: the light and classy, short sleeved Chambray Shirt Dress ($71, size 8-16). Like the black shirt dress this style has buttons down the front for easy nursing access and a belt that can be worn above or under your belly. I may not have a baby bump anymore but the extra space has been perfect for covering up those extra lumps and bumps after pregnancy.

Chambray Dress 3

Sizing info: I purchased all three dresses in size 10, which was also my pre-pregnancy size, and the fit has been spot on (same goes for other Eve of Eden garments I have bought before). However as I have lost quite a bit of weight since then and am getting closer to my goal weight I could possibly go down one size. In these photos I weigh 62kg.

Our gorgeous baby Sybil is nearly 4 months old and I’m afraid I am yet to reach my pre-baby weight (in my defence: I did have four babies in less than 4.5 years!). I’m well on the way though and slowly I am rediscovering my wardrobe and my confidence. Instead of crying over the jeans that don’t fit (yet) I have decided to rock the ones that do fit and make me feel good about myself. On Saturday we attended a kids birthday party and when I saw this photo afterwards I felt pretty content, thanks to my absolute favourite feel good pants:

My feel good pants

My feel good pants

Skinny Cargo DetailThese beautiful Blue Skinny Cargo Pants from Australian label Eve of Eden are officially classed as maternity pants, but you really can’t tell. They look just like ordinary pants but have an elasticised side decorated by a little buckle, just a stylish detail to most but the key to comfort for pregnant or new mums. The same little straps come back on the side pockets giving these pants a cool and unique look. My husband always comments on the nice fit of these cargos and as he doesn’t often notice my clothes I know this must be a real standout.

Brown Skinny Cargo PantsA few days ago I noticed that they are now on sale for just $53 (from $96) so I couldn’t resist and ordered the same style in brown, that’s how much I love them and they are super comfortable. The Skinny Cargo Pants are available in size 8 to 16, I was a little unsure about the sizing but purchased my pre-pregnancy size and as they are stretchy they fit beautifully (seeing that lovely familiar size tag again does wonders for your confidence!).

Bird Print Nursing ShirtIn the photo you can see I am also wearing the Eve of Eden Bird Print Nursing Shirt ($61, size 8-16), suitable for maternity and breastfeeding. While I may not have a baby belly to dress I do really appreciate the forgiving fit of this shirt, perfect for hiding those left over lumps and bumps. The belt under the waist makes for a nice flowing shape that is very flattering. To feed your baby simply undo the buttons, so easy. If you love the bird print there is a Bird Print Dress available too.
