For kids the school holidays are all fun and games, but for parents it can be an expensive few weeks (especially if you have a big family like ours!). As you know I try to plan ahead and stock up on boredom busters well in advance, I always keep an eye out for awesome deals as I love a good discount on my shopping. You can save yourself time and money by using Australia Coupon Codes, they collect discount codes for some of Australia’s favourite stores so you don’t have to do the research, so easy!

Dress Ups

Even if the weather is forcing us to stay inside there is still plenty to do for our little tribe. We build cubbies, draw pictures, bake cookies, read books, construct towers and pretend to be a doctor, princess, fireman, red riding hood or anything else they can find in our dress up box.

CostumeDress ups can be a bit pricey but in my opinion they are a great investment, the kids get so much enjoyment out of them and it really encourages them to use their imagination. Not only are dress up fun at home, they are also great to have on hand for costume parties or book week. If your dress up box could do with a makeover you can save big bucks by using one of the coupon codes for Costumes.com.au.

HB JournalI have already shopped ahead for our European holiday later in the year and ordered the kids personalised diaries for the trip. The school has allowed us to take the children out of school for five weeks as long as they keep a journal of their holiday, who said homework had to be boring? We already use the Hippo Blue school gear (backpack, lunch box etc) so we know the quality is great and with the current Hippo Blue Coupon Codes applied the prices are awesome.

It’s been a very long time in the making but now the wait is finally over, here’s your first look at the exclusive Girl Guide Uniform designed for the Australian Girl doll. My three girls are always asking for new additions to their Australian Girl wardrobe so I had no doubt this gorgeous new set would be a massive hit, doesn’t it look awesome?

Girl Guide Uniform

The brand new Girl Guide Uniform (RRP $32.95) consists of three pieces: a lovely navy blue pleated ‘skort’ (a trendy skirt and shorts combination), a Girl Guide replica shirt and the unmissable sash, after all you wouldn’t be a real girl guide without it. Of course everyone has to start at the beginning, I wonder what the first badge will be? To create your badges you can use anything you like: Buttons, stickers, tiny appliqués, embroidery… use your famous girl guide creativity and put together your doll’s unique sash.

Aussie Style Jacket

To get the ultimate Girl Guide look you can complete your outfit with the new navy/yellow Aussie Style Jacket (RRP $24.95). While this stylish coat with traditional Southern Cross embroidery on the sleeve matches the Girl Guide uniform perfectly it would also look fabulous on little athletes as they prepare for their next sport match or even the Olympics! Designed for chilly night the Aussie Style Jacket is warm and cosy and does up with a zip (as opposed to nasty velcro!).

If there is one thing our 4-year daughter has enough of it is imagination. She is the queen of pretend play, always making up stories and taking her siblings along on special adventures that grown-ups just don’t understand. Like many other girls (and some boys too!) she loves fairies, if she’s not dressed up like one she is drawing, reading or talking about them. If your child is anything like mine the newly released book Forget-me-not Fairies published by Hinkler is sure to be a real hit. By the way, did you know today is International Fairy Day?

Forget-me-not FairiesForget-Me-Not Fairies ($19.99) is a beautifully illustrated storybook featuring a collection of whimsical fairy stories. Little readers will love joining sisters Sophie and Ellen on their adventures in Wishaway Wood, a magical land full of fairies, goblins, butterflies and lots of other interesting characters. The book contains 11 stories and while my girls are too young to read the book by themselves they have a fantastic time listening to me read and exploring the pictures, pointing out all the details and linking my words to the visual content.

With 192 full colour pages this hardcover book has hours of magical entertainment to offer, you can browse some of the pages here. But it is more than just a storybook, all it takes is a bit of imagination and a sprinkle of pixie dust for young children to enter the enchanted fairy world themselves. Within no time they’ll be singing along to ‘The Wishing Song’ (if you are musically gifted you can try your hand at playing it yourself, the sheet music is in the book) and the special Forget-me-not Fairies website also offers a sweet craft activity.

Dress Up Fashion DollsOf course you can count on Australian publisher Hinkler for plenty more fairy fun. Deluxe Fairy Collection, part of the Dress Up Fashion Dolls series, tells the story of a fabulous fairy garden party. Get hands on and dress the two stand up dolls in their pretty fairy costumes, then act out the store on a real pop-up stage. Once you’re done safely store your fairy friends in the special built-in pouch so they can rest up for the next garden party.

Seek and Find FairyHere’s my tip for the younger fairy fans: Seek and Find Fairy (or Seek and Find Princess if that’s more her thing). These books are so much fun and combine lots of learning areas. Our 2yo and 4yo can sit and ‘read’ these books for ages. Read the stories, look at the pictures, play the seek and find game on each page, practise counting… Add to that the bonus charm bracelet and you can see how these books add a sparkle to every little girl’s day.

Itty Bitty Box

When I announced the arrival of our youngest daughter 8 weeks ago I wrote about how shocked I was that the baby was a girl. I really expected it to be a boy and we hadn’t even decided on a girls name. Now I can’t imagine any different and I am so pleased we have another little princess in our castle. I know my husband is far from a professional photographer but I think he did a fabulous job capturing our gorgeous little princess in this divine Miss AnnaSophia tutu from Itty Bitty Box:

Sybil (8 weeks old)

Sybil (8 weeks old)

Ava TutuDesigned right here in Australia the Miss AnnaSophia range is handmade and made to order, this means you can create your own unique design in your choice of colours without having to do the hard work. The handywork is being done by a talented mum from Melbourne inspired by her own little minifashionista. These divine tutus are perfect for parties and special occasions, photo shoots or of course just to twirl around the house in.

Anna TutuMiss AnnaSophia tutus are made from gorgeous soft tulle in one or multiple colours. The scrumptious tulle is being held together by a matching ribbon or crochet band and finished with a beautiful flower detail. Whether you prefer sweet pastel colours or bright and funky, one-tone or a mix of different shades, it is completely up to and no two tutus are the same. Usually it takes just 24 hours for your custom order to be ready, it can’t get much quicker than that! (In busy times it can take a few days longer)

Tutu HawthornThe tutus are designed for little girls aged 0-7 and priced between $35 (size 0-1) and $50 (size 6-7). To compliment the look you can purchase a matching headband for just $10 when ordering your tutu. As you can imagine my other two girls were a little disappointed they didn’t get to wear a tutu so I might consider ordering a special ‘Olivia’ and ‘Juliet’ too, I am already brainstorming about the colours.

As if I didn’t have enough to plan for yet with our holiday and the twins starting kindy in a few weeks I also have three birthdays to prepare for, all to be celebrated in August. I have found some fantastic gifts already, invites have been ordered and I have started to collect a bunch of great party favours for the little guests. On my travels for cute party favours I stumbled upon the Orla and Maeve range at Budburst Kids.

The Orla and Maeve range has only recently arrived in store and is already proving to be very popular with girls all over Australia. The Australian made Orla and Maeve range offers non-toxic play make-up for little princesses in the shape of these very sweet eye shadow, lip balm and body glitter jars. Aren’t they just divine? No more worrying about nasty ingredients like phthalates, nanos, bismuth oxychloride, talc, mineral oils, artificial preservatives, colours or fragrances.

Priced at just $4.95 per jar Orla and Maeve play make-up makes a very affordable gift, stocking filler or party favour for a special little girl. The adorable star, heart, square and round shaped jars can even be reused afterwards for holding that lost tooth for the tooth fairy. If you order 5 or more Orla and Maeve products you receive a free gift box, just pop in the jars and you’re ready to surprise the little lady in your life with a fabulous present.

As a mum of three year old twins my days are often filled with role playing. A princess, a fireman, a doctor or a ladybug, I have seen them all and every week they come up with brand new characters. They take their new personalities very seriously, of course it helps when you wear a special princess dress and step around in shiny princess shoes with diamantes but it becomes even more real when mum gets out the Pure Poppet Play Makeup Kit

The Pure Poppet range is developed by Georga, an Australian mum with two little girls who love dressing up just as much as my two. Face paint or play make up can add lots of fun to a game of make believe but it is the invisible side of those brightly coloured pots and tubes that can really ruin the party. Many kids have sensitive skin that responds to the harsh ingredients used in ordinary make up sets. Georga decided to create a natural alternative that lets your little poppets enjoy their games the pure way.

Pure Poppet products are made right here in Australia using natural ingredients, so you don’t have to worry about nasties like ferric ferrocyanide, artificial dyes, FD&C colours, talc, carmine, bismuth oxychloride, mineral oil and paraben preservatives. The Pure Poppet range is perfect for use at home or a party, boys and girls, butterflies, princesses and clowns, just simple and pure dress up fun for little ones.

Within the range you will find Play Makeup Crayons, Powders, Lip Balm and Stencils as well as a complete Pure Poppet Play Makeup Kit with lots of different goodies. All you need is a few drops of water and you can start transforming your kids into a character of their choice. The Mineral Powder can be used dry or wet and is very easy to apply, the result is just fantastic! Pure Poppet Play Makeup looks (and smells) amazing, an ideal gift for little ones and with prices starting at just $4.95 the price tag is very sweet too.

To find out more about Pure Poppet, to order online or to locate a stockist near you visit www.purepoppet.com.

For your chance to win a Pure Poppet Play Makeup Kit visit www.purepoppet.com and answer the following question: Aside from the Play Makeup Kit which other Pure Poppet product would you love try?
