Big Christmas trees with shiny baubles, sparkly tinsel and fresh green holly, handmade wreaths and beautiful nativity scenes… I love seeing little bits of Christmas pop up wherever we go and I particularly enjoy seeing my children’s faces light up with excitement at the beauty of it all. If you’re looking for a way to make your child’s Christmas extra special you’ll love these festive designs by Bright Star Kids:
Bright Star Kids has got the whole family covered with a wonderful Christmas Collection full of gorgeous personalised Christmas goodies to suit everyone:
With so many deliveries to make in just one night it is easy for Santa Claus to get confused, that’s why Bright Star Kids is helping the old man out by personalising your child’s Christmas stockings and Santa sacks (RRP $19.95-$29.95). Imagine the delight when the kids recognise their own names on Christmas morning! From small gifts to big presents and everything in between, with more than 25 different designs and sizes to choose from there is a perfect stocking or sack for all.
Wrapping parcels for our family and loved ones is one of my favourite things to do, I love thinking about their happy faces when they unwrap their surprises. Whether the gifts are delivered by Santa or you have made/picked them yourself with love, Bright Star Kids gift labels are the cherry on top of a beautifully wrapped present. Bonus: If you choose a personalised label suspicious kids won’t be able to recognise your handwriting so you can keep up the Christmas magic a little longer.
With all the kids excited and everyone in good spirits Christmas is a fantastic opportunity for some lovely family photos, that way you can remember these special moments for years to come. Bright Star Kids offers a great range of Christmas clothing range that can be personalised with your child’s name or even your family name; styles, sizes and price vary per design. I may have to get the pretty Christmas Angel Tee for our little Harriet, isn’t it cute?
When people hear I have four daughters they often joke that they feel sorry for me. Yes, I do spend quite a bit of time making plaits and washing hair and I dread the day they discover make-up, but there are plenty of things to love about my bunch of little ladies. They love pretty fabrics, prints and colours as much as I do and I get to indulge in divine creations like these by the super talented Kirstin Ash:
The stunning Little Kirstin Ash collection is home to the most beautiful keepsake jewellery any little girl could ever wish for. Designed to be personalised and customised to suit the wearer, their taste and/or occasion Little Kirstin Ash is totally unique and every handpicked combination tells a personal story.
The extensive collection consists of sweet bracelets, bangles and necklaces, delicate initials and adorable charms that can be mixed and matched to your heart’s desire. You can start with one charm or a few and add meaningful pieces to mark important milestones along the way. Made with timeless sterling silver and 18k rose gold, as well as a cute pop of colour here and there, Little Kirsten Ash is a stylish, classy and sweet way to celebrate the special little person in your life.
You can find the Little Kirstin Ash range in store at Australian online boutique Mocha, prices start at $22.

With Easter all wrapped up and the temperature dropping rapidly there is no denying it any longer: Summer is well and truly over. If yesterday’s weather is anything to go by we’ll be spending our upcoming school holidays in front of the wood heater, thankfully our woodshed if fully stocked! I love the warmth of our fireplace but I don’t like the effect it has on my skin. Time for Trilogy to come to the (skin) rescue:
Trilogy is all about luxurious, natural skincare with a range of specialised products to suit different skin types and conditions. If you are not sure which Trilogy product would suit your needs the new limited edition Discover Trilogy Starter Sets (RRP $26.99) are an excellent way to find your perfect fit:
Each of the four Discover Trilogy Starter Sets contains three travel-size Trilogy products carefully selected to cater for a specific skin type: Normal/Dry, Combination/Oily, Ageproof and Sensitive. With handy beauty essentials like cleansers, creams, serums, oils and lotions there is a lovely kit for everyone, the Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ is one of my personal favourites and I can highly recommend the Vital Moisturising Cream.
Whether you are looking to add moisture to dry patches, fight unwanted signs of ageing, soothe irritated skin or re-balance oily areas, these well-priced starter packs are an excellent way to test the waters and discover what works best for you, without breaking the bank. They are an ideal size for a short getaway and would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift for your mum, aunty or mother-in-law.
Now that our little treasure has arrived safe and well and we know the gender of our newest family member I can finally do some shopping which, as you know, is one of my favourite things to do. As Harriet is our 5th baby we obviously have most baby gear already but of course she deserves something fresh and new too, luckily with the help of little add-ons and accessories you can easily give your ‘old’ stuff a trendy makeover (and I am not just talking about your baby’s wardrobe!).
Thanks to Australian label Audrey and Me I managed to up-style our trusty Joolz Day pram in just a flash, adding a pretty, personal and practical touch. As soon as I spotted this stunning design online I knew it would be the perfect match for our Parrot Blue ride, doesn’t it look absolutely divine?
Audrey and Me Pram Liners (RRP $49.95) are lovingly handcrafted in Australia using 100% certified organic cotton, providing your little traveller with a soft and padded seat that is gentle on their skin and the environment too. I appreciate the peace of mind knowing there are no nasty chemicals near my baby and with the warm Summer season just around the corner the breathable cotton fabric will help keep miss Hattie cool and comfortable.
Of course the eye wants something too and with 32 different prints and 6 backing colours to choose from there is a design to suit everyone. Not that I had any trouble deciding, I fell in love with the Forest Floor fabric even before Harriet was born so sneakily I was very pleased we had a little girl. I teamed it up with the aqua polkadot on the reverse which looks beautiful together and I get two very different looks in one great product. To complete the look you can even add a pair of matching Strap Covers (RRP $14) to your order.
Sometimes handmade products can look a little ‘basic’ and rough around the edges, but that is definitely not the case with Audrey and Me. To say I am impressed is an understatement, the attention to detail is amazing and the finish is sublime. I love how the pram liner fits like a glove and looks so professional whilst still displaying that handmade charm; I am absolutely thrilled with my pram makeover.
We all know children are experts at making things dirty so a pram liner is a stylish and easy way to protect your pram seat from spills and other messy accidents. When needed you can just remove the liner and wash it in the washing machine on a cold/gentle cycle, great news for busy mums like me who don’t have time for hand washing.
At Audrey and Me they understand that not all prams are the same and have different straps at different heights, so to ensure a perfect fit for your stroller all pram liners are handmade to order and come with a unique ‘Fit Guarantee’. Simply specify your pram make and model during checkout and Audrey and Me will deliver a custom made liner to match, now that’s what I call excellent customer service!
I love this busy time of year when all the new winter collections are being revealed, as a mum of four I have quite a few wardrobes to fill so I am always looking at new arrivals and stand-out looks. Back in December I showed you some lovely summer styles from fair trade label Eternal Creation and today I am sharing my favourite winter picks, fresh from the sewing machines in the Himalayas:
The new collection brings a selection of warm winter hues with some welcome cheerful colours to brighten up a dark and dreary winter day. Pretty dresses, classic shirts, cool tops, sweet skirts, comfy pants, matching accessories and more, you can mix and match to your heart’s content when putting together your child’s new Eternal Creation winter wardrobe.
My personal favourite for the girls is this Retro Spot Party Dress (RRP $53, 9 months – 4 years), made from 100% soft and breathable cotton. The colours (especially the dusty pink!) are divine and the eye catching ruffle hem is very cute, I also love the waist tie detail. A matching, and very adorable, little Retro Spot Dress Up Bag (RRP $17) is available to really complete the look, I know our little miss 2 would absolutely love it.
I know sometimes corduroy can appear a tad outdated but if you look around there are some stylish cord pieces out there, it is just a case of finding them. These floral Mauve Dancer Cord Pants (RRP $34, size 3 months – 3 years) are an excellent example, they are soft, comfortable and will keep little legs toasty warm on cold winter days. I think they would look very sweet on our littlest girl combined with a purple or teal top and the stretchy waistband would make nappy changes a breeze.
My boys pick is this simple but lovely Night Owl T-shirt (RRP $34, size 2-14), a great wardrobe staple that will be worn over and over again. Wear it on its own with blue jeans or some cargos, add a touch of cool with a puffer vest or wear it under a hoodie for some extra warmth. Navy is one of my favourite colours and I love how forgiving it is when it comes to accidental spills and dirty marks.
People often ask me if life with four kids is crazy and I won’t lie, it is rather busy but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love my big family and there are lots of small things you can do to make life a bit easier and your days run a tad smoother. Being organised is the key and something as little as a label can make a big difference.
Name labels help the kids recognise their bottles and lunch boxes while content labels make it easy for them to find the right art and craft supplies in the playroom (less mess to tidy up!) and pantry labels help me grab school snacks and dinner ingredients without wasting time. Creating and printing your own customised labels is now easier than ever with this clever gadget from the printing experts at Epson:
The Epson LabelWorksTM 600P Label Printer (RRP $129) is a small, portable label printer that can be controlled from your desktop PC (using the included USB cable) or smartphone/tablet using Bluetooth making it ideal for busy parents on-the-go. The compact Epson LabelWorksTM 600P operates on batteries so you can easily carry the unit around the house, garage, office and caravan and print as you go, or you can plug in the included AC adaptor.
Using the handy Epson iLabel App (which is free to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play) you can create and print personalised stick-on labels, iron-on name tags, barcodes, date labels, QR code stickers, custom gift ribbons and much more, all from the comfort of your couch. There are several different speciality labels to choose from in fun colours and finishes to suit your project and taste perfectly.
Quick and easy name labels
Setting up the Epson LabelWorksTM Label Printer was a piece of cake and took less than a minute. First I clicked in the label tape (a sample size tape is included) and made sure the end of the roll was fed through the print opening. Then I downloaded the iLabel App, turned on bluetooth on my iPad and the printer so they could connect to each other. Et voila, you’re ready to print!
Create personalised gift ribbons
Aside from the compact size and ease of use there is plenty more to love about the Epson LabelWorksTM 600P Label Printer. One of our favourite features is the ability to print labels with your own handwriting. It’s so simple even the kids can do it and the end result is really sweet, it’s a great way for children to claim ownership of their belongings. Or imagine wrapping a gift with a ribbon showing your child’s handwritten message, such a personal touch. You can add symbols, borders and even photos too, once you get started you’ll never want to print a plain label again.
Organise your ‘Art & Craft’
As a budget-conscious parent I very much appreciate the fact that you can view your design before you print it so you can check spelling and placing and avoid mistakes. At the same time Epson LabelWorks offers a significantly smaller lead margin (up to 60%) compared to other brands and you can manually set the length of your label up to the millimetre which means a lot less waste and more economic use of your labels.
Handy iLabel App for ‘printing on-the-go’
The printer is automatically set to print one label but you can change the quantity to suit your needs, individual labels will be neatly cut by the built-in automatic cutter. You can also save your designs to print them again later if you were to need some more which keeps things neat and uniform and saves you precious time.
Disclosure: I received a free Epson LabelWorksTM 600P Label Printer to test and write about.

For many families December is the most expensive month of the year: presents for loved ones, festive meals and gorgeous Christmas outfits for the whole family, it all adds up. When it comes to clothing is tempting to shop for the lowest prices, but without realising it you may be supporting unfair work conditions for employees (or even child labour!) through your brand selection. This Christmas (and all throughout the year) you can give the gift of a fair future by shopping Eternal Creation:
Australian label Eternal Creation works with Tibetan refugees and local Indians to produce fresh, vibrant and high quality certified Fair Trade fashion. Putting people before profit, garments are made in a supportive and fun working environment in the Indian Himalayas. I love seeing the happy faces of the talented Eternal Creation tailors who lovingly create these beautiful pieces, how awesome that we can all be a part of that!
Christmas is all about special traditions and for many families it wouldn’t be Christmas without some new pyjamas or a special nightie to wear on Christmas morning. These boys Bold Red Heron Pyjamas (RRP $44, size 12m – 12y) are comfortable in cut, practical to wash and wear and festive in colour, they would make an ideal gift from grandma and grandpa. The button up shirt and pull up shorts are a classic style that are popular year after year.
This gorgeous Perfect Pippen Romper (RRP $29, size 0-24m) is one of my favourite baby styles, I can just see our little miss Sybbie wearing this sweet summer suit. I love the pretty floral print and the delicate lace detail on the shoulders and being made with soft and breathable 100% cotton it is the perfect outfit for our warm Australian weather. To make nappy changes quick and hassle free you can simple open the suit at the bottom with three simple snap studs.
For my bigger girls this fabulous Ruffle Blouse (RRP $44, size 4-12) would be my number one Christmas pick. The vibrant tangerine colour, cute ruffle front and little cap sleeves make this a very pretty top that will become a favourite in your daughter’s wardrobe. It can be quite tricky to find lovely clothing for older girls that is age appropriate and classy so I am glad to see Eternal Creation has got tweens covered in style too.
Most Eternal Creation pieces are made to order with love in the Himalayan Tailoring Centre and the turnaround is quick, shipping charges depend on the weight on your order and can be viewed during the checkout process.
To enjoy a very welcome $10 off your next Eternal Creation order simply enter the code ‘HIP’ at checkout. Offer ends December 25, 2014.
