A few weeks ago I introduced you to Australian company Linenly, home to the most beautiful organic bamboo bedlinen. I have been so excited to discover their range and even more so to dive into a bed freshly made with bamboo goodness! After impatiently stalking the postman for my order I quickly gave my new linen its first wash and manage to swap my sheets just in time for bed…

Because many of you are new to bamboo I promised to share my thoughts on this luxurious range and I made sure to spend a good month trying it out. I slept on it and under it, I washed it and dried it, I ironed it (low setting!) and even squeezed in a few sleep-ins which is very rare for me! There is a lot I want to say about Linenly, but in short let’s just say we are very impressed.

My Linenly order arrived quickly, it was delivered in a matter of days and carefully wrapped for safe transport and delivery. As you can see even the packaging is eco friendly: this nice fabric bag (which matches the colour of your new sheets) holds all your new linen and if you’re a master folder you may even be able to store everything back in there whilst not in use. It would most certainly make it easy to keep the sheets and pillow cases neatly together in your linen cupboard.

The sheets are silky soft and you instantly notice the high quality. All Linenly bamboo sheets have a rich 400 thread count and have been made with a premium sateen weave, it feels like sliding into a deluxe hotel bed every single night. Even after washing our sheets several times the smooth, silky feeling remains, which confirms the quality and durability of this bamboo fabric. For more fabulous facts about bamboo check out my earlier post about Linenly.

Keeping our old sheets onto our extra thick king size mattress was a daily cause of frustration but the Linenly fitted sheets are a generous 40cm deep (and stretchy) and therefore stay perfectly in place. I was so pleased with how the ‘forest’ colour matched with the headboard of our new King Living bed, it looks really clean and calming. Rest assured, there are eight stunning colours to choose from so there is a perfect shade for every bedroom.

If you are keen to give bamboo a go now is the time, with Linenly offering a massive 40% discount on all Linenly bamboo sheet sets. Prices are as marked, Australia-wide delivery is free for orders over $150.

Pawesome PAW Patrol picks

I regularly receive emails from both new and longtime readers asking me for advice on hip finds I shared in the past and one of the most popular questions is always: Does your family still love LeapFrog and which LeapPad should we get? I am working on a longer post about this (stay tuned) but our short and adamant answer is YES! Even after many years we still adore our LeapPads and I highly recommend them to everyone. We recently purchased a new LeapPad game for our littlest PAW Patrol fan and it is so much fun, I just had to give it a quick shout-out:

The LeapFrog PAW Patrol Collection learning game (RRP $34.99, ages 4-7) contains both a learning game and an eBook featuring your favourite PAW Patrol pups, offering kids two different ways to play and learn in one game cartridge. Although Miss Hattie is not four just yet and therefore a bit on the young side, she is very keen and the PAW Patrol: Ready for Action! learning game is definitely getting the wheels turning inside her little head.

The aim of the game is to solve practical problems, PAW Patrol style. On their way to find a bunch of missing kittens the brave rescue pups encounter a range of obstacles, time to put those brains to work and find the right pup and the right tool for each ‘problem’. From helicopters to fire trucks, from ladders to nets, from diggers to submarines, from hooks to hoses, this fun puzzle game helps develop reasoning skills, teaches cause and effect, practises problem solving and more and you even earn cool badges along the way.

Young readers can work on their literacy skills too with the PAW Patrol: The Great Robot Rescue eBook. Ryder has created a super clever Robo Dog, but when his antenna gets damaged by a fall Robo Dog is uncontrollable and turns the whole town upside down. Ryder and the pups work together to catch Robo Dog and put everything back in order. Kids can listen to the story while flicking the pages and reading along. This is an excellent way to help kids practise common sight words, they can point at individual words to hear them and trigger cool sounds/reactions by touching the pictures on each page.

Hip Tip: If you like quick and easy you can also download these cool apps directly from the LeapFrog App Centre, meaning you don’t even have to leave the house. As with all LeapFrog apps when you purchase the PAW Patrol: Ready for Action! learning game and/or the PAW Patrol: The Great Robot Rescue eBook online you can install them on multiple LeapPad devices yet you only pay once, perfect for large families like ours.

Another pawesome find is this flip-lid PAW Patrol Learning Watch (RRP $24.95, ages 3-6) which you can strap to your wrist and is filled with loads of interactive PAW Patrol fun. It is no surprise that Hattie had her heart set on Skye and proudly shows off her pink gadget to everyone she meets. I admit it is quite large in size so it can be a little tricky to combine with bulky winter coats but nothing will stop her wearing it anywhere and anytime.

Just like any good watch it tells the time, it has a timer/stopwatch and a working alarm. A little advice: Make sure you know how to turn the settings off or you’ll be woken by the cuckoo clock every hour, it took us a while to determine the source of the hourly cluck cluck and locate the noisy chicken! You can customise the look of your watch with 12 interchangeable digital clock faces and it even has a glowing light for midnight time checks.

Designed by the toy specialists at VTech the PAW Patrol Learning Watch is made with real children in mind so the design is not just practical but playful too. The watch plays sounds and phrases from the show and comes with four built-in PAW Patrol mini games that focus on different learning skills like making matches, basic addition and subtraction and problem solving. With only four different buttons the watch is surprisingly easy to master, which gives kids a great feeling of independence.

The PAW Patrol Learning Watch is available in Skye pink, Chase blue and Marshall red from your local Big W store and other good toy stores across Australia.

Sale Alert: A little birdie told me that the watch is currently on sale at BIG W for just $19, go and snap up a bargain!

No job is too big, no pup is too small. Whether you love Marshall, Chase or Skye, or adore Zuma, Rocky, Rubble or Everest, there is a perfect PAW Patrol pal for everyone.

Sweet Sale: 3 for 2 storewide at Smiggle

Smiggle

While Australian children are still impatiently waiting for Christmas celebrations to begin, my little half-Duchies are in luck. Every year on December 5th our family honours the Dutch tradition of Sinterklaas (Saint Nicholas) and the weeks leading up to it are filled with excitement and little gifts.

On several nights we’ve had six little shoes lined up in front of the fire place filled with drawings, craft, wishlists and even a carrot for Sinterklaas’ horse. These are some of the little shoe-stuffers lined up for my girls this year:

So far this has been the biggest hit of them all, this Bow Alphabet Keyring (RRP $9.95) was a major success with my girl. She absolutely adores her glitter keyring and was so proud to show her friends at school. She instantly attached her to her schoolbag and has mentioned over and over again how much she loves it. This is a real sweet and personal gift and a good size to tuck in Christmas stockings (and shoes!). You can buy the Bow Alphabet Keyring in (almost) all letters of the alphabet.

If pink is not your colour and glitter not your thing, do not worry. There are loads of different alphabet key rings to choose from to suit both boys and girls.

The unicorn craze is still going strong here so this cute Bath Fizzy (100g, RRP $5.95) was a perfect pick. Nothing like a bit of fizz and fragrance to make bath time fun! The bath fizzies are available in unicorn, mermaid, star and heart shape and smell like strawberry, blueberry and berry vanilla. At just over $5 they’re a fantastic price and a great little add-on for birthdays too. If your girls enjoy a spot of DIY there is a great Make Your Own Bath Fizzies kit too, it would make a cool school holiday activity.

I’ll be honest, this pretty Time to Shine Clock (RRP $34.95, ages 6+) is a bit of a selfish gift. I’m secretly hoping that this sparkly sequin alarm clock will help my early risers stay in bed a little longer on weekends. It’s probably a Christmas wish that won’t come true but at least it looks awesome. When you press the button it lights up the room with a beautiful glow and even tells the time, day and temperature out loud! Our ideal ‘Time to Shine’ is 7am or later, what about you?

Just like their mama my girls don’t leave the house with a tube of lipgloss in their bag. They are always looking for different scents so this Shine Gift Pack (5-pack, RRP $19.95) is sure to be well received when it comes to unwrapping time. Raspberry, bubblegum and ice cream, balm, roller and gloss, it’s a fabulous haul for little beauty queens. You even get some cute hair chalk and nail stickers to complete the look!00

Hip Tip: There is no better time than today to stock up on stocking fillers, with a fabulous 3 for 2 offer on all Smiggle goodies. Be quick, offer ends November 29, 2018!
