When it comes to collectibles it’s generally our girls who join the latest trends, with our boy(s) twiddling their thumbs on the sideline. As fun as tiny dolls, cute kittens and sweet squishies may be, master 10 is a bit too cool for all those gorgeous goodies. You can imagine his excitement when I finally stumbled upon this rad racing range from Jasnor:

Micro Motorz (RRP $12.95, ages 3-8) are the newest collective trend and all the boys (and girls too) are bound to go gaga for it! These miniature cars are small in size but big in action, combining building with collecting and even competiting for multiple layers of fun.

Each Micro Motorz pack consists of three connected packs: Pack one holds the tuning tool while pack two contains a car accessory (engine/spoiler) and a launching plate. Saving the best for last pack three will unveil your lucky Micro Motorz ride in a neat launcher/display box.

I absolutely love the fact that Micro Motorz are a real hands-on toy. First car crazy kids are required to use their brains and exercise their fine motor skills when building their launcher. Once the construction is complete you can shoot your Micro Motorz vehicle at lightning speed or even hold a race with multiple vehicles. Why not get your friends together and see who crosses the finish line first!

Are you driving for team Speed Demonz, Hot Rodz, Nitro Chargerz or Monster Treadz? With 21 awesome cars to collect across the four different teams there is plenty of collecting to be done in Micro Motorz Series One. Will you complete your team, unwrap rivals or discover an ultra rare set of wheels? You never know what you will find, each Micro Motorz blind pack brings a new surprise. Keen fans can proudly store and show off each car in its own handy launcher turned display case, they even click together to create a cool stack display!

You can find Micro Motorz at Big W store, Toyworld, Toy Mate, Kidstuff, NewsXpress and other leading independent toy stores across Australia.

To find out more about Jason, to take a closer look at Micro Motorz and to locate a stockist near you visit www.jasnor.com.au.

For your chance to win a Micro Motorz prize pack (RRP $51.80, consists of 4 randomly selected Micro Motorz) hop on over to the Hip Little One Facebook page to enter. Good luck!

Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Autumn/Winter 2017 is here!

Eeni Meeni logo

I won’t lie, I have found this first back-to-school week rather stressful. As a result I *may* have indulged in a bit of online shopping therapy to get me through, please tell me I am not the only one? I love seeing the new Autumn/Winter styles slowly arriving into stores and I can’t wait to get started on the kids’ wardrobes for next season. Need some inspiration? The brand new Eeni Meeni Miini Moh collection has just been released and here are my favourites:

Now that she is a big kindy girl miss Sybil is working very hard at dressing herself in the morning, I think this stripey Boatneck Dress (RRP $64.95, size 12m – 5) would make a fabulous ‘easy’ kindy dress that is soft, comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Just add a pair of tights/leggings to make urgent toilet breaks a breeze too, there’s no time to wrestle with buttons or zips!

At almost 17 months old Harriet is no longer a baby, she’s running around everywhere and turning out to be quite the independent, cheeky toddler. Purple hues look amazing on her, so my pick for her would be the pretty Owl Frill Top in gorgeous Vervain Marle, matched up with the funky Indigo Marle Skegging (RRP $49.95, size 12m – 5). How cute is the ‘left’ and ‘right’ heart detail on the knees? So adorable.

I know that after a whole week in school uniform my girls are always looking forward to putting on something bright, comfortable and girly. Olivia would absolutely love the vibrant ‘lipstick’ hue of the Hoodie Dress (RRP $74.95, size 2-12) , but if your little lady prefers something a bit more subtle the dress is available in black marle too. I think it would make a great outfit for a relaxed winter weekend.

If you were to ask Juliet you can never go wrong with some bright pink and silver shine, take this sweet mix + match combi with the Relaxed Paris TopStriped Skegging (RRP $49.95, size 2-8) and as the star of the show the Silver Foil Gathered Skirt (RRP $69.95, size 2-12). The three styles look amazing together but can also easily be worn with other colours and garments that are already in your child’s wardrobe so you can create a range of different looks.

Last but not least our one and only boy who is growing so fast I can hardly keep up, can you believe he is already wearing the same shoe size as his mum? With the cooler season in mind I think the Gauge Knit Sweater (RRP $79.95, size 2-8) is a great mix of cool and classy. The Mist Marle is neutral yet adds a little touch of colour to an often dark and grey season. Team it up with the super relaxed Dude Pant (RRP $84.95, size 2 -12) and you’ve got yourself a winning combo that is sure to get the thumbs up from your favourite guy.

I may not have a little man to dress right now but that won’t stop me admiring all the stylish new Eeni Meeni boys gear. This season is far from boring with some great bright flashes mixed in with the timeless greys, blue and green tones. I love it when kids are allowed to be kids and can show a bit of spunk and personality through their wardrobe, you’re only young for a little while!

Penguin

As the festive season is coming closer I love hearing about the December traditions of other families. From putting up the tree together to advent calendars and from handmade decorations to Christmas stockings, everyone has different ways to make Christmas special.

With our big bookworms in mind I love the idea of counting down to Christmas by putting a new book under the tree every day, imagine the joy of unwrapping 24 brand new books on Christmas morning! If you’re looking for a book that will entertain all young readers (yes, even reluctant ones!) look no further than this new Morris Gleitzman release:

snot-chocolate

Snot Chocolate (RRP $16.99) is a fabulous collection of short stories that are silly enough to make kids giggle and short enough to squeeze in just before bedtime. No one can keep a serious face at the thought of Demolition Contractor Fairies that take care of the school bully or ‘health shakes’ with stinky blue cheese, fur balls and snot clusters, our twins definitely couldn’t.

But there are some great hidden messages too, e.g. why winning is not that important, forgiveness and generosity, the value of family and standing up for yourself. Snot Chocolate is a perfect holiday read for the upcoming school holidays, make sure you put a copy under your tree.

group-together

One look at your family calendar (or your fridge doors) and you know it’s almost December: End of year concerts and performances, invitations and sign-up forms, school camp, family BBQs, work parties and of course your Christmas shopping list, it’s hard to keep track of it all! As much as you try to remember everything you will find there is always something you forgot, like the famous ‘teacher gift’ that tends to sneak up on busy parents.

grouptogether-ad

The clever Aussie mamas behind GroupTogether understand that parents are often short of time, which is why they have created a fabulous online service that takes the hassle out of collecting money for a group gift.

GroupTogether is super simple to use, just set up your group collection online and they will take care of the rest. All contributions are safely made online, making it convenient and easy for every parent to chip in a few bucks. Our lives are so busy that we do not have the time to organise collections and to chase and remind other parents, that’s why GroupTogether does the regular reminding for you saving you any awkwardness or hassle.

grouptogether-cardGroupTogether will then bundle the contributions and transfer all the money to your bank account so you can buy an awesome present that is sure to wow the teacher. Instead of every child spending $10 on yet another mug, box of chocolates or a pot plant, a class of 25 could surprise the teacher with an amazing $250 get-away or shopping spree. You can even print off a card that includes personal messages from all the families who joined in, what a great keepsake!

There is plenty more to love about GroupTogether: Parents can choose to share the love by donating a small percentage of their contribution to charity, there is no paperwork involved making it environment friendly, you can ask all parents to contribute a specific amount (keeping it fair) or allow them to chip in as much or as a little as they can (respecting family budgets), you are never left short changed or out of pocket and, being an online service, GroupTogether is quick and convenient for everyone, including working parents, to use.

Hip tip: Do you want to see for yourself what everyone is talking about? Click this link to try GroupTogether for FREE, just in time to organise the perfect end-of-year gift for your child’s favourite teacher.

Scraps of paper, clothing tags, receipts, ribbons, rocks, beads, leaves, flowers… our 6-year old daughter is a real collector and her collection of small ‘treasures’ is growing every day. At the moment she keeps all those little nic-nacs in a big box but it would be much nicer if she has a special home to show off her precious goods. I have been hunting for a display unit for some time and recently stumbled on these amazing pieces by Bloomingville:

We’ve only just come home from our European adventure and now school holidays are about to start again! I obviously won’t miss the morning rush and packing lunches every day but I will have to get organised and put some activities together as we used up all our craft and read all our books multiple times on the plane trip. At least I have got our two big girls covered with some awesome new additions to their Forever Clover collection:

Sonny Angel

One of the awesome things about being a parent is that it allows you to indulge in childhood crazes and silly games without looking ridiculous. One thing my kids really enjoy is collecting ‘things’, something I also loved when I was younger and now I can go for it all over again. The excitement of adding new pieces to your collection, the endless studying of that little catalogue to see which designs you are missing and that ‘moment of truth’ when you rip open a blind packet to unveil your new treasure.

Sonny Angel Animals

The latest collecting toy to hit Australian stores is Sonny Angel, a cute little winged boy doll that is rapidly stealing hearts all across the country and around the world. Sporting nothing but an eye-catching head piece Sonny is an innocent little toy, much more peaceful than scary robots and violent fighting machines and more age appropriate than Barbie and Bratz dolls covered in make up. The funny things is that our kids still haven’t noticed, or commented on, his Adam’s costume.

Sonny Angel FruitThere are lots of different Sonny Angels available and new designs are released all the time so you can keep growing your collection. Current series include Vegetables, Fruit, Animals and Marine and with 12 Sonny Angel designs per series that is a lot of angelic pieces to collect. All Sonny Angel dolls are sold ‘blind’ so while you can pick the series you won’t know which doll you’ll get. If you buy multiple dolls from the series in one purchase you are guaranteed to receive no doubles.

Sonny Angel AnimalsDisclaimer: Sonny Angel may or may not bring you happiness, I am afraid I can’t give guarantees. What he will bring you is plenty of smiles as he is super duper adorable, kids will love building their own collection and they make great imaginative play toys (at 10cm high they’re perfect for ‘on the go’). Be warned that collecting these little dudes is quite addictive and your child may want to grow a very large Sonny Angel family!

Sonny Angel MarineSonny Angels are sold individually with 1 doll per box and a little collection booklet showing all the different designs is included. You can find Sonny Angel in the Coccinella store on Australian market place Down That Little Lane. Normally each doll costs $10.95 with a flat rate shipping fee of $8.95 no matter how big or small your order but for a limited time only Sonny Angel dolls are on special for the reduced price of $9.95 per doll or $119.95 for a complete series of 12. Offer ends February 23, 2014.
