Welcome Baby Giveaway – Day 22

Over the course of 8 years and five kids I have bought more than my fair share of baby goods, some were fantastic buys and others (in hindsight) a total waste of money. One thing I would buy all over again in a heartbeat is this fantastic gem, for the past few years we’ve used ours daily and I still love it as much as I did on day one. If you want to see for yourself what I’m raving about make sure to join today’s Christmas Countdown giveaway: range

Designed right here in Australia by two clever mamas the award-winning product range is fun, functional and fashionable, all rolled into one. Their innovative designs are all about making your life that little bit easier while adding a touch of style.

On one side the fabulous Diaper Caddy (RRP $69.95) holds a huge stack of nappies and the other side is designed to neatly fit a big tub of baby wipes. Underneath a spacious slide-out drawer keeps your favourite nappy creams and lotions together so you have all your nappy change essentials within reach, every single time. The caddy even comes with a matching, fold-up, wipe-clean change mat, so handy!

While we do have a lovely change table in our baby’s nursery the reality is that I generally can’t be bothered to walk all the way to other end of the house (and leave the other kids by themselves). Our Diaper Caddy has been living in our lounge room for several years where it has been my trusty change companion. The sturdy design is durable, strong and easy to keep clean, if it survives life in our big, busy family you can rest assured the quality is fantastic.

Long after your baby has grown out of nappies you can still enjoy your caddy as storage for eg. craft or sewing supplies, toiletries, hair accessories or toys. The Diaper Caddy is currently available in five stylish colours to suit your decor and personal style perfectly. Which colours is your favourite?

Big Baby Shower – Day 5

While there are many things I am planning to do the same with our new baby as with our other children, there are also things I would do differently this time. For quite a few years the logistics of taking multiple young children to the pool for swimming lessons really scared me and I kept putting it off but as of last year all kids have classes on a Sunday afternoon and it is so much fun. I can’t wait to, for the very first time, enjoy swimming with a small baby once he/she is ready.

Konfidence range

At Konfidence they know all about enjoying the water with little people whilst staying safe and warm. Their extensive range of baby swimming, buoyancy and beachwear products will help you feel confident and comfortable splashing around with your new baby.

Konfidence BabywarmaThe cleverly designed Konfidence Babywarma (RRP $29.99, size 0-24 months) is a super-soft neoprene swimsuit that provides welcome warmth and 100% UV protection on covered bodyparts parts. It fully opens up so dressing your baby is a breeze and thanks to adjustable velcro fasteners a perfect snugly fit is ensured at all times. Even nappy changes are a piece of cake, just open the convenient flap at the bottom for speedy access. The Babywarma is currently available in Blue Polka, Strawberry, Clownfish, Nautical Blue and Red and Fuchsia.

Konfidence BabyChangerChanging a wet, slippery baby near the water can be quite the battle, which is why the handy Konfidence Roll & Go BabyChanger (RRP $16.99, birth +) features a non-slip surface. No matter where you are, with the Roll & Go in your baby bag you’ll always a have a clean, safe and hygienic place for unexpected nappy changes. After use simply wipe clean, roll up and fasten ready for the next little clean-up.

Konfidence AquaNappyIf you are swimming regularly and enjoying an heated indoor pool you will love the Konfidence AquaNappy (RRP $15.99, size 3-30 months). Unlike bulky disposable swim nappies they are a compact fit, re-usable and gentle on the environment and your wallet. The new and improved design will grow with your baby from 3 all the way to 30 months, at which stage your child will most likely be toilet trained and able to wear regular bathers. Little accidents are contained thanks to elasticised waist and leg openings without them being too tight and uncomfortable.

I don’t know about you but I am feeling rather queasy after reading in the media about the dangerous chemicals used in a long list of clothing and home wares. Let’s be honest, many of us (myself included) are naive when it comes to toxins and chemicals and we assume that products sold in Australian stores are safe but it turns out that’s far from the truth. Laura has spent the last 10 years removing chemicals from her home, replacing every day cleaning products by healthier (often homemade and more economical) alternatives that actually work.

The Sustainababy Home Detox Boot CampTM is an 8 week e-course that is practical, hands-on and convenient for modern, time-poor parents; at the end of the course you are sure to be well informed and feeling inspired and your home will be a healthy, chemical-free  environment for your family to live in. Dec 242011

With only one week left in December it is time to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. What are you hoping to achieve in 2012? Many of us have things we would like to work on like losing weight, living healthier, stop smoking, take more time to yourself or spend more quality time as a family. If you want 2012 to bring a positive change to your family life you might like to know about The Me Strategies.

Developed by Australian mum and psychologist Jenny Chapman this family program is designed to turn your household around the positive way. Where many parenting techniques are reactive (eg. grounding, smacking, yelling and using time out) The Me Strategies works preventatively, reducing the likelihood of certain behaviour occurring in the first place. I know I’d love to see some behavioural change, the sooner the better!

The ultimate goal is to encourage healthier relationships between family members and to achieve a peaceful and relaxed household, whilst having some family fun along the way. As a leading psychologist Jenny has years of experience working with families and children of all ages. The Me Strategies is a unique combination of different elements and rules of implementation designed to be used in a variety of family settings and deal with many different behavioural issues whilst delivering long term results.

Jenny’s program is based on using ‘motivators’ (incentives and privileges) to promote change in a young person’s pattern of behaviour.  It will provide children with necessary life skills by helping them to understand the consequences of their action, choices and behaviour in the household, ultimately improving the child’s self-esteem and confidence. The Me Strategies demonstrates to children the benefits of their contribution to the family unit and the positive effect they have when they make good choices.

The ‘The Me Strategies’ kit contains all you need to put your new family program into action, all the parts can be customised to suit children of different ages starting as young as four years old. Creator Jenny has successfully used the program with her teenage daughter and they both still see the benefits of the strategy. In fact, Jenny’s daughter Georgia is happy to answer any questions young people or parents may have about the effects the program has on an individual and household.
