Initially I was going to call this post ‘the big gender reveal party’ but I feared that might get some people very excited thinking we were expanding our family so I changed it. In saying that, the girls have been having the best time with their own mini-version of a gender reveal party and they absolutely love the anticipation of uncovering pink or blue…

With six children our family is already larger than average, but that number is nothing compared to Baby Secrets… There are one hundred of these adorable babies to collect! Our four girls are rapidly expanding their brood with lots of sweet, funny and quirky little boys and girls joining the family.

Baby Secrets (ages 4+) is a new collectible toy range featuring small toy babies in pink miniature bath tubs. Each little baby enters the world with a crisp white nappy on, step two is to discover baby’s gender by dipping the baby into the bath water. In a matter of seconds the white nappy turns pink or blue, allowing the proud adoptive parent to name the new arrival and fill out his/her birth certificate (included). Welcome to the family Penelope Pineapple and Coco Cat!

Strawberry baby or snowman baby, donut baby or dolphin baby, basketball baby or birthday baby, there are so many different characters to collect and one even more rare than the other (but all equally cute!). The excitement of a ‘blind bag’ is hard to resist so you might find yourself bringing home a new baby from your next supermarket visit too.

Can’t get enough of the Baby Secrets fun? There are also several larger Baby Secrets Playsets available that allow keen baby-mamas and wanna-be dads to get even more parenting practice with a pram, bassinet, car, swing, rocking horse and more. Of course each play set comes with some new babies and a dip-and-discover bath tub too. Are you ready to reveal your babies’ secret?

Baby Secrets dolls have adjustable arms and legs, so you can properly sit them down on the swing or send them for a drive in their car. Made from a solid material they are really tough and durable and they’re a perfect compact size for little pockets (and of course Christmas stockings!). I’ve popped a few new babies in our holiday backpacks for our upcoming trip, such an easy way to keep my girls busy on the plane.

You can find the Baby Secrets range at all major toy stores and toy departments across Australia.

I totally get it, after five babies my friends and family really don’t know what to get us anymore for baby no.6. Baby’s wardrobe is already filled with gorgeous clothes and we are fully kitted out with pram, carrier, car seat and other baby gear, all that is left is for baby to grow bigger and stronger before its arrival in September.

However one thing you can always make me, and any other expecting parent, very happy with is a new supply of ecostore goodies. As a big family of ecostore-fans who uses their natural skin, boy and haircare products every single day we always welcome a stock-up, I think it makes the perfect baby shower gift:

ecostore has lovingly developed a fabulous range of baby products that are gentle on your precious bundle and kind on the environment too. Wave goodbye to yucky chemicals, synthetic dyes and perfumes, mineral oils and other hard-to-pronounce ingredients and go green with ecostore. Of course it is not just a great choice for little ones, our whole family uses ecostore Baby Body Wash (RRP $8.99, 200ml). It’s soft on the skin and the lavender/geranium scent is not too overwhelming.

ecostore has your daily clean covered: we used the Baby Body Wash in the shower and for the kids’ bath we add a splash of playful bubbles with the ecostore Bubble Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) for extra fun. Hopefully the soothing ecostore Sleepytime Bath (RRP $8.99, 200ml) lives up to its name and will help us get some much-needed sleep when baby has arrived! Did you know the ingredients used in these bath products are so gentle that with proper greywater systems in place your bath water can even be re-used on your flower gardens, lawns and trees?

ecostore Baby Shampoo (RRP $8.99, 200ml) is a plant-based formula that cleanses your child’s hair whilst carefully protecting its natural properties at the same time, it gently strips away the dirt but not the important natural oils. A small amount goes a long way so a 200ml bottle lasts ages, especially if you only have a fine layer of baby hair to wash (unless our new baby surprises us all and is born with a full head of hair!).

I know the ecostore Baby Moisturiser (RRP $9.99, 200ml) was officially created for babies but I often reach for this nourishing moisturiser for my own sensitive pregnant mama-skin too. It is absorbed quickly and the light fragrance is really pleasant and not too strong. Once our baby has been born I can hold him/her close to my skin without worrying about what the baby is breathing in, if it is safe for baby it is safe for me too! This moisturiser is also perfect for a post-bath massage.

It may be small in size and in price but the ecostore Baby Soap Goat’s Milk & Lavender (RRP $2.99, 80g) is by far one of my best finds. This soft, creamy and natural soap is ideal for our older kids who wash hands countless times a day, there is no allergic reaction like they experience with many popular liquid handsoaps (and a block of soap is a lot less wasteful) plus I know they won’t be transferring yucky chemical nasties when they touch our tiny newborn.

To be honest I think the ecostore Nappy Balm (RRP $9.99, 60ml) could do with a new name, as this little jar of magic can be used for so many more things than red bottoms. Yes it does work wonders for nappy rash, but it can also bring welcome relief for cradle cap and other little skin problems, it is one of my first go-to products when our children’s skin is playing up. ecostore Nappy Balm is a wonderful non-greasy, non-staining barrier cream that helps protect your baby’s skin the natural way.

What can I say, you don’t know the true luxury of a relaxing warm shower until you find yourself without hot water. Recently our hot water system broke down unexpectedly which left our family of seven out in the cold, literally. But tough as they are even a chilly shower doesn’t stop my tribe from getting clean and scrubbing up while putting the newest ecostore products to the test:

Designed with the young, sensitive skin of children in mind the brand new ecostore Kids range is guaranteed to get your precious little ones squeaky clean and smelling delicious without exposing them to hidden nasties. The ecostore Kids range is safer for you and safer for the world we live in, so it’s a double win! Did you know ecostore uses unique biodegradable renewable sugarcane plastic packaging? It’s just another way they show they care.

From the top of their head to the tips of their wiggly toes, ecostore Kids Foam to the Max (RRP $9.99, 350ml) is sure to get the thumbs up from everyone. As a mum I love the practical 3-in-1 concept (shampoo, conditioner and body wash), the handy pump flacon (one pump is plenty and no waste) and of course the safe plant and mineral based formula that cleanses gently yet thoroughly. At the same time kids love the generous foam for extra bath time fun and the pleasant Pear Pop or Fruity Zing fragrance.

No matter how old you are, we all love the luxurious feeling of sinking into a big sea of bubbles. A little squeeze of ecostore Kids Double Trouble Bubble Maker (RRP $9.99, 400ml) in your bath water is enough to create a fun foam frenzy that will win over even the biggest bath hater. Just keep the bottle away from little hands because they’ll keep wanting to go back for more! Bonus: The Pear Pop scent is absolutely scrumptious.

Now I haven’t tried out this special kids hand soap myself just yet, but the word on the street is that ecostore has successfully made hand washing cool again with the new ecostore Kids Foam it Up (RRP $9.99, 350ml). One bottle of this super soap lasts an enormous 500 pumps, that’s a lot of toilet trips and excellent value for money. The gentle natural formula is safe for little ones aged 2+, putting an end to sticky fingers and greasy hands without using nasty chemicals.

These five fabulous ecostore Kids products are now available at Chemist Warehouse stores across Australia as well as the Chemist Warehouse online store.

Baby By Sia

No matter how tired or grumpy she is, the sound of the shower never fails to cheer up our little Hattie who absolutely loves bath time. Thankfully so as she is turning out to be a very messy eater, after a busy day she loves relaxing in the bath while I rinse of all that sticky goo. If you adore a squeaky clean baby too but you are worried about what you’re putting on your baby’s skin you’ll appreciate the gentle approach of Baby By Sia:

Baby By Sia Pack

Lovingly created by skin expert and mum-of-two Sia Hendry (the clever lady behind You by Sia) this dedicated skincare range for babies uses the finest kind and soothing botanical ingredients. Each of the specially formulated products values the skin’s natural properties and helps to protect and nourish the natural way.

WashiWashi (RRP $22, 250ml) by Baby by Sia is a fresh and fruity baby wash that gently cleanses and cares for chubby baby rolls and soft tufts of hair. It has a light citrus-based smell that is pleasant and refreshing, perfect for cleaning your tiny treasure at bath time. Made with olive and avocado oil to add moisture and seabuckthorn to soothe the skin Washi keeps your newborn’s skin naturally healthy by preserving the natural oils that make baby’s skin so soft and cuddly.

ZinkiHarsh sun and wind, heaters, airconditioning, germs and other invisible pollutants in the air… when you think about it your baby comes into contact with so many things every day and it is bound to have an effect on their sensitive skin. Zinki (RRP $27, 50ml) offers an effective little layer of protection in the shape of a gentle face and body lotion that is absorbed easily (no thick white paste like many other zinc products). The addition of natural gems like olive leaf extract, green tea extract and coconut oil ensures skin is left hydrated and nourished throughout the day.

MutiOne look at the pretty packaging of Baby by Sia’s Muti (RRP $29, 15ml) and you know you are in for a treat. This luxurious Soothing Skin Repair Ointment is the ultimate rescue package for dry, irritated skin, red patches, nappy rash, burns and bruises. Harriet is a real grabby crabby and sometimes leaves small scratches on her face, Muti is the perfect balm to help calm and heal those red lines. Just a tiny amount of ointment is needed so this compact dispenser goes a long way.

The secret ingredient to this powerful potion are Vitamin C, B5 and K1, skilfully blended with Aloe Vera, Millet Seed and Liquorice Root Extract. It’s safe to use from top to toe so if you are looking for a fabulous multi-purpose product for your precious bundle Muti is sure to do the trick.

Christmas Countdown – Day 17

Now that the weather is well and truly warming up begins the challenge of keeping your little bundle cool and entertained. Especially for our Christmas Countdown giveaway our lovely friends at Boon Inc. have put together a fabulous prize pack filled with all their favourite bath time goodies:

Boon Naked Baby Bath Tub

The clever collapsible design of the Boon Inc. Naked Baby Bath Tub (RRP $69.95, suitable from birth to 18 months) allows you to create the perfect support position for every stage of your baby’s growth: the reclined position is ideal for newborns as it keeps their head above water and cradles them for a safe, comfortable feeling while the fully-expanded position offers a bigger bathing area to suit sitting infants and toddlers. Unlike many other baby baths the Naked Baby Bath Tub is slim to fold and compact to store or hang up, perfect for small bathrooms or travelling.

Boon Inc. LinksAdding a touch of story time to your daily wash is a piece of cake with the Boon Inc. Links (RRP $12.95, 12 months+). Kids can use the 11 foam pieces to build a range of sea animals: a whale, a crab, a jelly fish or a mysterious creature no one has ever seen before, it’s up to you! Links are fun for a wide age range, they’re a fantastic tool to encourage older children to use their imagination and work on their story telling skills while real little ones can learn about animal names and colours.

Boon Inc. BubblesLike all Boon Inc. bath toys the futuristic looking Bubbles (RRP $19.95, 12 months+) are free from BPA, PVC and Phthalates, no nasties near your precious bundle! You can stick them to each other, the bath tub, the shower screen, the tap or the floor, collect the same colours or mix them up and attach as many as you can to create one big bunch of bubbles. Bubbles are available in two colour ways and each set contains 10 Bubbles in 2 different sizes.

Boon Frog PodWhen not in use you can keep all your bath toys neatly stored in the funky Frog Pod (RRP $59.95, 6 months+). Frog Pod attaches to your wall using the enclosed wall bracket with screws or very strong adhesive strips. The frog’s body is more than just a tidy toy basket, it can also be detached and used as a scoop to collect toys out of the bath water. Designed with convenient drainage holes across the base the Frog Pod ensures your toys won’t be sitting in yucky water afterwards to reduce the risk of mould.

Molton Brown

A week ago I celebrated my 32nd birthday, not really a special milestone but with four (soon five!) young children even those ‘ordinary’ birthdays are a big party. My wonderful hubby is an expert at putting together a surprise day filled with my favourite things to do, visit, see and (of course) eat and this year was no different. Of course I was spoiled with some lovely gifts too, includes these two Molton Brown treasures:

Molton Brown Honeysuckle White Tea Gift Set

While travelling the globe the bath and body connoisseurs from Molton Brown ended up in Sichuan, China where they found their inspiration for the new Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea Collection. If you are like me and love a feminine, fresh, floral scent you will adore these delicious products.

Molton Brown Honeysuckle White Tea Hand CreamI’ll be the first to admit that I usually skip the body moisturising part after the shower simply because I have so much to do, but after trying this beautiful body lotion (and enjoying the fragrance long after) I think I may have to start making time for it. Featuring a delightful blend of mandarin, jasmine flower, honeysuckle, white tea and (one of my favourites) sandalwood it truly is a feast for the senses.

Molton Brown Honeysuckle White Tea Eau de ToiletteThe Blossoming Honeysuckle & White Tea Collection currently consists of four products (Bath & Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Eau de Toilette and Hand Cream) that can be purchased individually or in gift sets ready to surprise someone special (or yourself) with a lovely treat, prices start at a very affordable RRP $15. All Molton Brown products are proudly made in Londen, UK and not tested on animals so you can enjoy their luxury range with confidence.
