Bean and Me

Christmas Countdown – Day 13

Ever since eco-mama Rochelle welcomed her first little bean she has been obsessed by gorgeous eco-friendly, Australian made goods for little people. By now she has grown her bean collection with a beautiful little girl and her online eco boutique Bean and Me has grown too. In store you’ll find a wonderful selection of organic clothing and accessories, toys, linen, sleepwear and more from some of Australia’s best small and big designers.

Bibska BibsIf you have a dribbling baby on your hands you will love Bibska Bibs, a fantastic range of Australia made, adjustable bandana style bibs that are soft, absorbent and look super stylish.  All that drooling and dribbling can leave your child’s chin and neck red and irritated which is why Bibska Bibs are made with 100% cotton that is gentle against the skin (unlike plastic covered alternatives that can get sweaty and keep the skin wet). There are currently 6 designs to choose from to suit boys and girls.

Baobab Yellow Duck TeeAs you may know I am big fan of Aussie children’s fashion label Baobab, I love the quality organic fabrics, funky styles and excellent durability. We own quite a few Baobab pieces and even though they have been worn by multiple children and been through many washes they still look great. Right now you can pick up the most fabulous summer styles at Bean and Me, how cool is this cheerful unisex Yellow Duck Tee (RRP $36.95)?

Buster Boo blankets

The delightful Buster Boo range is designed and made right here in Australia, each beautiful product is handmade to order using the softest 100% Australian cotton, there are even some organic options too.

Buster Boo Cot QuiltBuster Boo Quilt (RRP $59.95-$79.95, 100cm x 100cm) is the perfect versatile gift for a special little bundle. Use it as a blanket in your baby’s cot, pop it on the ground as a soft and comfy playmat, snuggle up with it on the couch or tuck it around your baby in the pram, one product with so many uses. Thanks to the reversible design you can change the look to suit your taste, now that’s what I call great value for money.

As regular readers will know by now we are big fans of hip Australian label Baobab, between my four children we have quite a nice collection of Baobab gear already and I can’t help but add to it every season. We love the super soft and safe organic fabrics and we can’t get enough of the awesome cuts and cool looks created by designer Belinda. The brand new Baboab Autumn/Winter range has just hit stores across Australia and boy it’s a winner, these are some of the styles to look out for:

Baobab Denim Shift Dress

This divine Baobab Chambray Shift Dress ($48.95, size 2-10) would have to be my top pick for the season. The classic blue denim is extremely easy to mix and match with any colour in your wardrobe and the comfortable, loose fit is perfect for busy little bees like my girls. If your daughter is always collecting treasures she will no doubt love the big pockets and how stylish is the plaited belt? Team it up with leggings and ballet flats or sneakers for that in between weather and wear it with tights and boots for a warm winter look.

Baobab Lovebirds TeeAnother girls favourite is the Baobab Lovebirds Top ($41.95, size 2-10), I knew our little miss 5 would adore the pretty flared sleeves and it looks very sweet on her. The girls range of tunics, tops, dresses and pants are designed to be worn together but you can easily pair them up with garments you already have too as they’re very versatile. From experience the sizing is nice and generous, so it is comfortable to wear and you gets lots of wear out of your clothes.

Olivia Baobab Lovebirds Tee

Baobab Teal HoodieFor the boys there is plenty of spunky gear to choose from too, I put my money on the Teal Hoodie and Track Pants as a comfy winter favourite (or maybe the black/grey combination, I can’t choose). It’s the perfect outfit for when you come out of school or for a chilly weekend day: soft, cosy and comfortable with plenty of room to run, play, jump, climb, lounge and relax in, just what kids like doing most.

Unisex Pale Washed Harem JeanFor the past couple of seasons Baobab has released a funky unisex jean and we’ve bought (and enjoyed) it every time, the jeans have gone from our son to his twin sister and now they’re being worn by miss 3 (great investment for a big family like ours!). I am loving the look of this year’s Unisex Pale Washed Harem Jean ($48.95, size 2-6) so I might have to add it to our Winter wardrobe, they’ll get lots of enjoyment out of it.

Baobab Red Baby JeanThe Baobab baby collection is full of gorgeous pieces in the coolest prints and colours, many of the designs are unisex which is a real bonus if you want to hand them down to younger siblings. I personally love a pop of red at winter time and can just picture these cheerful Baobab Red Baby Jean ($41.95, size 0 months – 1 year) on our youngest daughter, who said you have to dress grey and dreary like the weather?

Spotted a style you love? Until April 18, 2014, you can save 20% storewide at Baobab. Simply enter the code ‘BUNNY-LOVE’ at checkout and enjoy the savings!

I admit that at the moment it is hard to believe that warm weather is on its way but all real fashionistas know: if you want to get your hands on the best summer pieces you have to buy in winter or you’ll miss out! The brand new Baobab Spring/Summer range has just arrived on the shelves of Sustainababy and it is gorgeous as always:

Baobab Navy Pirouette Dress

Baobab Navy Pirouette Dress

As you may have discovered by now I really love classic colours on my kids, at the same I also quite like styles that are bit different and funky. This season’s Baobab range definitely ticks the boxes with timeless red, navy and grey tones, you simply can’t go wrong! The beautiful organic cotton pieces are soft, comfortable and breathable making it a perfect choice for the summer months. This Navy Pirouette Dress ($46.95, size 2-5) is simple, sweet and stylish, I love the cheeky contrast trim at the bottom layer!

Baobab Helicopter TeeBaobab has got the boys covered too, add a touch of colour to your boy’s summer wardrober with the cool Red Helicopter Tee ($39.95, size 2-5). Boys will love the fun helicopter print and it even has a funky little pocket to store that paper plane they folded this morning or special rock they just picked up at the playground. For a quick, good looking boys outfit wear the tee together with the Baobab Navy Shorts.

Baobab Red maple Bodysuit

Baobab Red maple Bodysuit

Baobab Navy Grey BodysuitFor babies you can’t go past the very popular Red Maple Bodysuit ($37.95, size 0-3m – 1), a gorgeous design that is suitable for both boys and girls. This cute baby suit has a handy cross-over front (makes it easy to pop your baby’s head through) and convenient press studs at the bottom for quick nappy changes. On cooler days you can team it up with red, grey or navy leggings or of course denim. If you like the cross-over bodysuit but prefer a neutral colour and print it is also available as a Navy Bodysuit.

Bean and Me

With the first deliveries of Summer fashion just moments away it is time for Bean and Me to make some room for the new arrivals. Owner Rochelle has her work cut out for her, as if unpacking all that new stock is not enough she also measures every single item that comes in so her customers can be confident they are buying the right size. With that in mind, do Rochelle and yourself a favour and pick up some bargains in the End of Season Sale.

Hot sale picks from Broken Tricyle

Hot sale picks from Broken Tricyle

Broken Tricycle Brolly TeeBaobabPurebaby and Nosh Organics are just a few of the many eco friendly labels you’ll find in the sale section. However my hip tip would be Broken Tricycle, this Australian brand is super stylish and made with soft, organic cotton that won’t irritate your baby’s delicate skin. The styles are comfortable and feature unique prints and patterns. The adorable Broken Tricycle Brolly Tee ($25) with its gorgeous rainbow coloured drops is my favourite.

Master and Miss BlanketI can also highly recommend Master & Miss, we often use the lovely Master & Miss Signature Blanket when we take our little lady outside and everyone comments on it. The signature print is available in blue too and if you combine it with the matching Signature Onesie and Signature Bib you’ve got one very cute gift set for a cute little bundle of the pink variety. All Master & Miss items are currently on sale so grab them while you can.

If you are expecting a Summer baby (or are shopping for one) you can’t go past Max & Tilly, Olliboo and Bright Bots, these Summer pieces are heavily reduced and you won’t find bargains like this anywhere else.  There are still a few different styles and sizes left for both boys and girls and with savings of up to 70% this is the perfect opportunity for some retail therapy without the guilt. Postage within Australia is $9 per order and orders over $70 ship free, enjoy your bargain hunting!

It was fun while it lasted but I think we’ve now really seen the last of Summer, yesterday I dug up the raincoats and we still arrived at kindy looking like wet dogs. Time to put away the shorts and singlets and to go over the kids’ winter wardrobes, they have grown so much this past year they will all need some new bits and pieces. I noticed the latest Baobab range has arrived at Sustainababy and I can tell you: It’s a winner!

Baobab Orange

FSK2-DENIM-SKIRT-NAVY-WASHHow hip is this cheerful orange colour? I absolutely love orange and it’s not just because I am Dutch. Orange is a great colour choice for both boys and girls and it looks awesome teamed up with denim or navy. With many dark and rainy days ahead we can all do with a splash of colour and there are some great orange Baobab pieces to choose from. My favourite is definitely the unisex Baobab Orange Skinny Jean, perfect for stylish little people who don’t mind standing out from the crowd.

Baobab Orange Skinny Jeans ($48.95, size 2-5) and Navy Stripe Pocket Tee ($39.95, size 2-5)

Baobab Orange Skinny Jeans ($48.95, size 2-5) and Navy Stripe Pocket Tee ($39.95, size 2-5)

Baobab SwallowIf you prefer something a little less bright the new Baobab collection features plenty of neutral colours too. I actually really like the navy, such a classic colour and very easy to mix and match (think white, red, pink, grey, beige, pretty much any colour). I have my eye on the gorgeous Baobab Baby Reed Dress for our littlest addition. Baobab garments are made using 100% organic cotton that is soft to wear and washes well.

You know I love a good sale and this week the mailman delivered a big box containing a whole heap of bargains I picked up at Little Boo-Teek. It had been a while since my last order because I was waiting for our baby to arrive so I knew whether to shop pink or blue and I was lucky, just as I was checking out their brand new website Little Boo-Teek launched its Massive Summer Clearance so I saved myself some big bucks and scored some fabulous buys.

You can save on your shopping too: Enjoy an additional 25% off on all sale items at Little Boo-Teek, that means you can save up to 90%! Simply enter the code ‘CLEAR25’ at checkout, offer ends March 31, 2013.

Milky_Lovebird_PJ_Baby_ClothesOne of the lovely buys I picked up in the sale is this sweet Milky Bird PJ Set (size 0-2), an absolute steal at just $14. My big three own quite a few of the Milky summer PJ’s and they all look great, are very soft and come up really well even after endless washing. I think our littest lady is going to look just gorgeous in this soft pink set (her sisters were rather disappointed they don’t get to wear it). There is more Milky sleepwear on sale to suit boys and girls from baby up to size 7. Be quick as sizes are limited.

2303201221318I also managed to find some great Quince tops for the twins, priced at only $8 and $12 I could not resist grabbing some extras for kindy. I have learnt the hard way and have shed my share of tears over expensive clothes that got damaged. Quince (you may know this label under the old name Aunty Ollie) offers good quality and fit and at prices like this (especially with the extra discount) it is worth stocking up.

109201213526As I was shopping and rocking the baby to sleep at the same time I did sadly forget to add this gorgeous Baobab Bubble Skirt to my shopping cart. We love the soft organic Baobab clothes and my girls think skirts are the best (plus very easy when it comes to toilet breaks) so I know they would love this. If you are lucky with sizes you can scoop up this cute number for just $15 if you use the code ‘clear25’, I told you it was a great sale!
