As a busy mum of six little ones there is sadly very little time to put up my feet and enjoy a good book. When I do get a few spare minutes to read I must choose wisely, therefore I keep a list of books that have come highly recommended by people I value and one of the titles at the top on my to-read list is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon.

I know the rule is ‘read the book first, then watch the movie’ but as far as I know there’s no rule about watching a play… time to check out the stage-adaption of this international bestseller at Adelaide’s Entertainment Centre:

Masterfully adapted by two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was the longest-running play on Broadway in over a decade and has raked in a massive 5 Tony Awards® and 7 Olivier Awards. As part of a big international tour it is currently Australia’s turn to see this remarkable, eye-opening novel brought to life on stage by a super talented full British and Irish cast.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time tells the story of 15-year-old Christopher Boone, a teenager with an autism spectrum condition who has an extraordinary brain that is exceptional at math but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers.

When his neighbour’s dog Wellington is killed suspicion quickly falls on Christopher and after initially being arrested he is released with a police warning. Against his father’s wishes Christopher starts investigating the dog’s murder in the hope of identifying the true culprit. Christopher’s mission takes him on a journey that upturns his world… The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a global theatrical phenomenon that simply must not be missed.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is currently playing in Sydney, after which the show will take to the stage in Adelaide on July 31 and finally close the curtains in Perth on August 19, 2018.

Out'n'About Nipper

As you know our Out’n’About Nipper was the ideal companion on our European holiday and the new Nipper V4 is turning out to be a fabulous buddy at home too.

Out'n'About Nipper V4

We recently took it on a day out to our local wildlife park where it proved to be worth its weight in gold, it took us up hill, down the paths, across the kangaroo field, on the sandy tracks and over the bumpy footpaths without any effort.

If you are a regular Hip Little One reader you probably read about our 5-week European holiday back in August. We had an amazing time and I posted plenty of hip holiday snaps on the Hip Little One Facebook page sharing our adventures, outfits and our ways of getting around with four young children. Several people asked me how we managed to bring a full size pram on our trip, the answer is simple: Out’n’About.

Nipper V4

Designed in the UK the Out’n’About Nipper Single V4 (RRP $649) is an award-winning all terrain pram that is huge in luxury, quality, comfort and features and small in weight and (folded) size, it is amazing. Weighing in at less than 10kg the Out’n’About Nipper is one of the lightest full size prams available making it the perfect travel companion.

Nipper V4 Mojito GreenThe Out’n’About Nipper Single features a sturdy and lightweight aluminium frame that feels solid and safe, it folds without any effort and all components fit and click in easily showing excellent engineering and high quality materials. I am not usually a big fan of three wheel prams but the Nipper has won me over, in my opinion the best word to describe the Nipper feeling is ‘reliable’ which is exactly what I want from a pram carrying my precious cargo.

Nipper V4 Pedal BrakeThe Nipper has a 5-point safety harness, one pedal break and a comfortable, wipe clean, padded seat that can be adjusted from sitting up to full recline to suit a newborn or a sleeping child. I love that you can recline it slowly (as opposed to ‘clicking’ it into position like many other prams) so your baby will stay asleep, we often took miss Sybbie out for a walk in the pram at night to get her to sleep (horrible jet lag!).

Nipper V4 FoldCompared to other full size prams the Out’n’About Nipper folds down to a surprisingly compact package and when you take off the quick release wheels it’s even smaller, measuring just 48cm x 29cm x 86cm. We travelled to Paris with one week of luggage for six people and a pram in the boot, not bad if you ask me! Unfolded the Nipper V4 is long enough to accommodate older children and slim enough to fit through doorways and shopping aisles.

suspensionThanks to the strong pneumatic tyres and independent rear suspension the Nipper V4 is not to only light to push and gentle on your back, it’s also more comfortable for your little passenger who won’t feel every tiny rock and bump. On our previous holiday we brought a simple umbrella stroller which does the job but it’s nothing compared to the solid, luxurious feel of the Nipper. From the beach to the forest, from the zoo to Disneyland, from the centre of Paris to airports across the globe, it drives smoothly everywhere.

Nipper V4 Handle BarOther important reasons we chose the Nipper Single as our holiday ride is the adjustable handle bar (hubby is 30cm taller than I am) and generous 22kg weight limit. With four children under six there is always someone with tired legs so at times we were swapping pram passengers like it was a game of musical chairs. From our baby to the the oldest two, everyone sat really comfortably and even slept so it’s a perfect buggy for families with  children of different ages.

There are several Out’n’About Accessories available to help create the perfect package for your child and your adventures, e.g. Out’n’About Carrycot, Sun Mesh, Travel Bag, Foot Muff, Car Seat Adapters and more.

The Out’n’About Nipper V4 series has just arrived in Australia in a range of exciting new colours: Purple Punch, Mojito Green, Lagoon Blue, Raven Black and Carnival Red. Which colour do you like most?
