As you may have read we recently moved our cheeky 2-year old out of the cot and into a big bed. Now this may sound simple and quick but it actually took quite a bit of preparation. The new Bunkers bed was made to order so there was a little wait and the fabulous BedGuard mattress had to come from interstate. Getting her a new quilt was the easy part, we simply went back to our big favourite MiniJumbuk.

Jumbuk Junior Cot QuiltWe first discovered MiniJumbuk two years ago during our hunt for a high quality cot quilt and the MiniJumbuk kids range ticked all our boxes. Natural, safe, asthma-friendly, machine washable, Australian made; our list of demands was pretty long but that proved to be no problem for MiniJumbuk. We have been really happy with the Junior Jumbuk Cot Quilt so we saw no reason to change and just made the logical next step to a Jumbuk 4 Kids Single Bed Quilt.

Jumbuk 4 Kids Quilt (RRP $219.95)

Jumbuk 4 Kids Quilt (RRP $219.95)

MiniJumbuk uses only the highest quality materials and their products are made right here in South Australia, so they can keep a close eye on the production process to guarantee an end product that meets the strictest criteria. The Jumbuk 4 Kids Quilt is made with 80% wool and 20% polyester, this means it is comfortable and warm yet light weight so perfect for children. And even though it is made with mainly wool it is still machine washable, no need to visit an expensive dry cleaner to get your quilt clean and fresh again.

Just like its little sibling the Jumbuk 4 Kids Quilt proudly carries the Sensitive Choice seal of approval from Asthma Council Australia, in fact MiniJumbuk wool bedding is the only wool bedding in Australia that carries the big OK stamp. A perfect choice for our little miss 2 who has very sensitive skin and airways and it gives me peace of mind too knowing she can sleep safely and breathe easily.

The Jumbuk 4 Kids Quilt is available in sizes Single, Double and Queen and can be purchased on the MiniJumbuk website as well as at Adairs stores nationwide.

Sauber Intelligence

If you have been reading Hip little one for a while you might remember that I wrote about my children’s allergies and my choice for bedlinen that is approved by the Asthma Council. Like many twins who were born prematurely our 3-year olds suffer from several allergies and it is not always easy to keep our house free from triggers. Our youngest has recently started showing similar signs, making me more determent to be careful with the products we bring into and use around our home. A clean, safe house starts with a quality vacuum cleaner and you most certainly can’t get any better than the new Sauber Intelligence.

The state-of-the-art Sauber Intelligence vacuum cleaner has only just arrived on our shores and is sure to impress even the fussiest housekeeper. Designed and manufactured by European manufacturer Sauber the innovative Sauber Intelligence features an innovative five level filtration system, thoroughly cleaning the air that flows through the vacuum cleaner and releasing clean air without irritating dust mites and allergens.

The ability to eliminate dust mites and allergens has earned this fancy vacuum cleaner the approval of the National Asthma Council and it is listed as part of the Australia Sensitive Choice Program. The Australia Sensitive Choice Program makes it easy for asthma and allergy sufferers to select products that are beneficial to their health and can improve their quality of day-to-day living.

Sauber is German for clean, pure, spotless, something we all wish for our household and now that goal has come within reach thanks to this clever design. Aside from the obvious cleaner results the Sauber Intelligence has many other great selling points, one of them being the minimum noise levels. If I hadn’t actually heard the Sauber Intelligence at work myself I would not have believed that a vacuum cleaner can be this quiet, such a big bonus with little people who need to sleep and one very sensitive little girl who doesn’t respond well to noise.

Just a few other key features of the Sauber Intelligence include a patented Sauber floor nozzle (which automatically adapts the rim of the brush when moving between carpet and hard floors, no more manual adjusting), energy efficient performance (using only the minimal suction required for each floor surface), a clear digital display with large symbols and very important, an ergonomic design for comfortable and effortless cleaning.

When researching household appliances I always seem to lean towards European made designs, as I am from Europe myself I am familiar with and can very much appreciate their reliability, durability and high quality. The 5-year warranty shows how confident Sauber is about the quality and performance of the Sauber Intelligence, standard warranty that long is hard to find elsewhere and will offer Australian families much needed peace of mind. In the unlikely case that your Sauber Intelligence does need to be repaired you’ll be pleased to know that repairs are done right here in Australia and parts are widely available.

For more information about Sauber or to take a closer look at the Sauber Intelligence (RRP $1500) visit www.sauber.com.au or drop in at your local Godfreys store for a test run.

When parents bring their new baby home from hospital there is usually a freshly made cot or bassinet waiting. The sheets are carefully washed, maybe even with special ‘baby washing powder’ so they are nice and clean, because everyone wants the best for their baby. You might even have selected organic sheets to make sure there are no dangerous chemicals near your precious bundle. But what about the mattress protector that is no doubt hiding under your fitted sheet? How safe and clean is that? Make a healthy choice by choosing Protect-a-Bed.

The award winning Protect-a-Bed Tencel Mattress Protector is made with 100% natural eucalyptus fibre offering a lot of benefits for babies and children. Tencel is a natural fibre which is hypoallergenic, antibacterial and free of pesticides and chemicals so your baby can sleep safely without breathing in anything harmful. Babies have very sensitive skin which can get irritated quickly, but as the Tencel textile is very soft and smooth it is gentle on your baby’s skin.

Unlike with regular mattress protectors your baby can sleep directly on the surface of the Tencel protector so it saves you both washing and work changing the bed. Of course the protector is waterproof and absorbent (as well as stain proof) yet still breathable and very cool (perfect for the summer months). The Protect-a-Bed Tencel Mattress Protector is a fitted sheet design available in two different cot sizes

After reading all the scary facts and figures about dust mites and bedbugs I pay a lot more attention when choosing bedlinen for my family. The Protect-a-Bed range covers it all, from tiny bassinets to king size beds and from mattresses to quilts and pillows. The products are designed to create a so called healthy sleepzone so everyone can sleep in a safe and dry environment. Protect-a-Bed products are available at nearly 1000 retailers across Australia.

To find out more about Protect-a-Bed, to read about the many benefits of Tencel textiles and to locate stockist near you visit www.protectabed.com.au.
