Backpack, uniform, lunchbox, drink bottle, pencil case… we’re slowly getting back-to-school ready here at Hip Little One HQ. This year we’ll have three little students at primary school, a big change for all!
Of course our stationery cupboard needed a bit of a restock too in preparation for all the homework, craft and special projects the kids will be making this year. Check out Crayola‘s biggest Back to School must haves:
If you thought crayons are just for toddlers think again. Crayola Twistables Crayons (RRP $8.99, 12-pack) are making crayons cool again with a funky twistable design: they draw like crayons in thick, warm colours, they feel slim and solid like a pen and can be twisted up instead of sharpened, how easy is that and completely mess-free! The twins have been using Twistables in class and think they are awesome.
A good pack of pencils in the most popular colours is a must for little students. Crayola Colored Pencils (RRP $5.99, 12-pack) are high-quality, durable and come pre-sharpened so they are colour-ready straight away. There is enough variety in colours to create a beautiful piece of art and at the same time they easily fit in a standard pencil case with room to spare for a few pens and an eraser.
If you do want to go all out colour wise you’ll be spoilt for choice with this huge pack of Crayola Washable SuperTips Markers (RRP $10.99, 20-pack). This is such a great value pack and being both washable and non-toxic they are perfect for young artists too. The start of the school year is a perfect time to finally throw out all the old, dried out textas and replace them with these bright, vibrant markers, without breaking the bank.
While I prefer plastic scissors for miss almost-3 (the idea of damaged fingers and DIY haircuts doesn’t appeal to me) the older kids are very comfortable and capable of cutting with these Crayola Blunt Tip Scissors (RRP $5.49). They are that little bit sharper for thick paper and cardboard and easy to hold with room for multiple fingers for more precise cutting of homework. They are also suitable for left and right handed people making them ideal for class rooms.
I absolutely love a good multi-purpose product, especially if it is as well-priced as the Crayola Washable School Glue (RRP $2.75, 118ml). Paper, cardboard, fabric and even wood, we’ve used an entire bottle of school glue over the school holidays and it works a treat. Initially the glue is white so kids can see where they have applied glue and which spots they have missed, but it dries clear for a neat end result. Bonus: The bottle lid clicks onto the bottle so you won’t lose it, how clever!
