KIDS BONDI LOGO - CMYK - RED BOX WHITE TEXT

While I had a wonderful time with my family in The Netherlands, and the surprised look on my parents’ face was worth a million dollars, nothing compared to coming home to my beautiful family again. I missed them so much and it was lovely to still have a few free days to spend together before the start of term 2. On Sunday we explored ‘our’ backyard, a perfect opportunity to take some snaps of their new Cotton On Kids Winter gear and to capture how much they have grown.

All Kids Cotton On Kids

Even though Tommie and Olivia are the same age he is clearly the leader of the pack, the tallest in size and generally the one telling everyone else what to do. Sometimes finding a good pair of jeans for him can be really tricky so I am very pleased with the Stan Cuff Jean in Indigo Rise (RRP $39.95, size 1-8), they are an excellent fit and have a handy adjustable waist. The elasticised ankle cuffs look really cool and it stops the hems dragging trough puddles, mud and wet grass, very practical during this messy season.

Version 2

The jeans are teamed up with the fresh and fruity Marcus Bear Pullover Hoodie in Vitamin Orange (RRP $24.95, size 1-8), perfect for brightening up a dark and dreary day. These great hoodies are available in range of colours and prints and you can pocket a welcome saving if you buy two at a time ($35 per two), I may have to grab some more to get us through the cooler months.

Juliet Cotton On Kids

Somehow miss Juliet’s gorgeous curls make everything look heavenly, even this fluffy blue Sarah Jumper (RRP $34.95, size 1-8) looks angelic combined with her golden locks. A Sunday afternoon walk in the woods is probably not your logical occasion to wear a silver tutu but when you’re 4 you can get away with this eye catching look, and how can you say no to a sweet smile like that anyway? Teamed up with the Huggie Tights in Light Grey Marle/White Geo (RRP $12.95, size 1-8).

Juliet Tutu Cotton On Kids

As a mother of three girls glitter is part of our every day life. Tiaras, star wands, tutus and sparkly jewellery, the more glitter the better and preferably everything at once. This little darling may not have the slim body shape of a real ballerina but there is certainly no lack of passion. The Mimi Cardi (RRP $34.95, size 1-8) is officially her sister’s but she claims it’s the perfect silver match for the Lydia Tulle Skirt (RRP $22.95, size 1-8). Add to that the Kids Primo in Dusk Sparkle (RRP $10, size 1-13), which in our home doubles as the child-friendly glass slipper, and Cinderella is ready for the ball.

Sybil Cotton On Kids

At 2 years old our miss Sybbie is a real girl now, she is no longer a baby. How adorable is this belted Joey Long Jumpsuit (RRP $39.95, size 1-8) with golden spots? I wish it came in my size too! The denim is so versatile, I went for a white tee this time but you can easily combine it with different colour tops and shoes. Unlike many other jumpsuits it has a zip closure, making quick toilet breaks a lot easier for active kids.

Olivia Cotton On Kids

Our beautiful 6-year old Olivia is sporting the Wednesday Dress (RRP $22.95, size 1-8), we think it looks great on Sundays too. The neutral charcoal colour is easy to mix and match and the glitter stars are very sweet and not too blingy, a perfect compromise for mum and daughter. She wears the dress with a comfortable pair of Huggie Tights in Light Grey Marle (RRP $12.95, size 1-10), these leggings are so handy to have in your wardrobe and go with lots of different outfits. Olivia always feels the cold so she is pretty chuffed with this cute Pom Pom Beanie (RRP $14.95).

All Four Cotton On Kids

By the way, a fantastic collection of kids coats, jackets and puffer vests for both boys and girls has just arrived in all Cotton On Kids stores. Prices range from $36.95 to $54.95, providing parents with trendy but affordable options to suit your family budget. The cool and cosy Zac Duffle Coat (RRP $54.95, size 1-8) is proving to be one of the top sellers this season so if your boy would think this awesome coat is totally rad you better be quick and grab your size before they sell out.

How to ease your nagging backache

Home, Mum  Comments Off on How to ease your nagging backache
Apr 292015

Ever since I fell pregnant with the twins in 2008 I have been struggling with a sore back. Many broken nights, busy days with lots of cleaning and lifting, a huge baby bump, heavy babies to carry on my hip, a lack of core muscles and a big tummy muscle separation, another two pregnancies… all added up it is no surprise that these days my back is not what it used to be and it has been causing me a lot of grief.

Over the years I have tried many things to help relieve my backache and I would love to share my three (very Aussie) top tips with you:

OZ MattressTake a closer look at your mattress
Gently bounce on your mattress, inspect it closely and feel around with your hands. It is likely the springs are no longer as bouncy as they were in the beginning and you are probably sleeping in a sunken spot leaving your back in an unnatural position night after night. After a long, long, long time of waking up exhausted with a sore back and hips hubby and I recently swapped our old, used up mattress for a strong, sturdy, supportive new mattress and the difference is ah-ma-zing.

When we tried out some of the mattresses in stores I could immediately feel the welcome support in much needed places, I realised that I no longer wanted to wake up feeling like a bruised and battered old lady. Yes a new mattress doesn’t come cheap but it is a long-term investment and when you divide the total cost over every night, week and year you will be sleeping on it it is absolutely worth every cent. When mattress shopping make sure to shop local and support an Australian made and owned product like Oz Mattress.

MyOki Wheat Bag ScarfeUse a wheat bag
A good, decent size heat bag is probably one of the fastest ways to ease your nagging backache. It’s easy to use, effective and you can use it on other sore body parts too. I have been using a Lavender MyOki Wheat Bag Scarfe to provide much needed relief for my shoulders and back and it works a treat, it is soft and comfortable against the skin and it smells absolutely delicious.

The unique shape of the MyOki allows you to wear it as a scarfe around your neck or wrap it across your back or waist, wherever you could use the warm, soothing relief of 1.2kgs of certified Australian Bio-Dynamic Wheat. Want to swap your heat pack for a cool pack? You can cool the MyOki in the freezer too, now that’s what I call a real versatile design!

Bosisto's Eucalyptus RubTry a soothing muscular rub
Just like the wheat bag Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Rub is only a temporary solution but is affordable, easy to use and widely available. This warm and soothing muscular rub smells divine and it rubs in easily (plus it’s the perfect excuse to ask hubby for a back massage). Within a minute or two your back will start to warm up and your muscles will start to feel better very quickly.

I love how something simple and natural as Australian Eucalyptus oil has so many great uses! Both hubby and I use the Bosisto’s rub regularly and are big fans.

Do you have another great tip for beating a nagging backache? Let me know, I’d love to try it out.

Fresh Flowers

Brought to you by Fresh Flowers

With Mother’s Day just around the corner I always have mixed feelings. On the one hand I am very blessed to be a mum myself to 4 beautiful children and I love how they make me feel extra special and appreciated on Mother’s Day. On the other hand it makes me miss my own mother, who lives all the way across the oceans in The Netherlands, terribly. Since moving to Australia in 2006 I have not been able to spend a single Mother’s Day with her and all we can give her is a phone call and a card in the mail.

My beautiful family

My beautiful family

If you are lucky enough to live close to your parents please take some time out of your busy schedule to visit them on Mother’s Day, how wonderful that you can just show up on her doorstep with a little present and make her day! And don’t forget to take a snap of the two of you together, you never know when you get that chance again every time I say goodbye to my mum I wish we took more photos.

If you, like me, live too away to drop by personally you can still make mum feel really loved from a distance by sending her some handmade goodness made by the kids, recording her a cute video or having a sweet gift delivered to her door.

Fresh Flowers bouquetThanks to Fresh Flowers it is super duper easy to organise flower delivery online in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Unfortunately Sunday delivery is not available, but for many areas same day delivery is possible so get that Saturday order in as soon as you can. Make sure you sign up as a Fresh Flower member because you will be rewarded with a welcome 10% discount on your first order, that’s some extra change in your pocket for a lovely card to go with the gift.

If you will be spoiling your mother, grandmother or mother-in-law with a pretty bunch of flowers this Mother’s Day I would love to know what you’ll be getting her. What are your mum’s favourite flowers? If anyone wants to treat me to a little bouquet my vote goes to… Dutch tulips of course!

Charli Bird

Less than two weeks to go, the countdown is on! Mother’s Day has a habit of sneaking up on us and often it means mums are left with a last-minute, practical present that is well intended but not exactly exciting. That’s why I am giving you a little heads up so you can drop a hint for, or treat yourself to, a lovely, luxurious gift from Charli Bird that will be enjoyed for years to come:

Cashmere Ponchos

These beautiful new Charli Bird Cashmere Ponchos are the perfect pick for those days when it’s too chilly to head out in just a top, but at the same time a bit too warm to wear a thick, padded winter coat. Made from silky soft 50% cashmere and 50% wool and lovingly handmade in Nepal these classy ponchos are high quality, comfortable, naturally warm and easy to wear. Simply pop one over your head for an instant extra layer of warmth (just what I needed on yesterday’s walk around our beautiful neighbourhood!).

Version 2

Wearing:
Cashmere Poncho in Camel (RRP $249.95) by Charli Bird
Dallas Skinny Jeans in Dark Denim (RRP €89.99) by Noppies
JAMiE Boots in Camel (RRP $255) by FRANKiE4

Folded the poncho is conveniently small in size (perfect for your handbag or travelling) yet you can create three stylish looks with only single poncho, it is such a great versatile addition to your wardrobe! Wear it with a V-neck and longer on the sides, go for a lovely draped cowl neck and horizontal waist or sport an eye-catching asymmetrical look. Bonus: If you are a breastfeeding mother or expecting mum trying to hide a growing bump, you are sure to appreciate the welcome privacy these ponchos provide.

Charli Bird gift boxThe new Cashmere Ponchos are currently available in two different styles and a range of classic colours: original length (RRP $249.95, 70cm square) in black, camel, ruby, nautical navy and silver grey and extra long (RRP $289.95, 85cm square) in camel and black. Each poncho comes beautifully packaged in a Charli Bird gift box, ready to presented to a well-deserving mama this Mother’s Day.

Funky Giraffe

After four babies I think we can safely say that I know what baby products are life savers and what not to waste your money on. One thing you can never have enough of is bibs: from early breastfeeds to starting solids, from messy dribbles to independent little eaters, some at home, in your nappy bag and at grandma’s, a big pile of bibs is a must-have for every mum.

Funky Giraffe Bib

Funky Giraffe creates stylish, 100% cotton bandana bibs for hip babies in a wide range of colours and prints. From classic stripes to sweet florals, from seasonal themes to awesome moustaches, from cheeky spots to special celebrations, With more than 300 different designs to choose from there is a perfect Funky Giraffe bib for every child and every occasion.

Funky Giraffe Spring BibBandana bibs are extremely popular because they look like a trendy little scarf instead of a traditional bib, they are way too cool to wear only at mealtime! I have learnt (often the hard way) that expensive is not always better and sometimes the items with the most pleasant price tag are actually the best purchase. Funky Giraffe Bandana Bibs bibs are not only very cute, they are also extremely well priced.

Funky Giraffe Bandana BibAt Funky Giraffe they know many families are on a tight budget so they are keeping prices low. You can pick up a brand new bib for as little as $5.50 per bib and, it gets better, the more you buy the more you save! This allows you to pick a different bib for every day of the week and to match every outfit without breaking the bank, and no tears if you happen to lose one or can’t get it clean anymore.

Originally born in the UK Funky Giraffe is now available in Australia too, helping little Aussie dribblers to stay dry and comfortable whilst looking super stylish and on trend (and helping mum to stay on budget).

To find out more about Funky Giraffe, to browse the range and to order online visit www.funkygiraffe.com.au.
