This funny weather is really keeping me on my toes. Some days we’re out in shorts and sandals, the next day we’re rugged up with cardigans and boots. Just like mummy my girls love a nice pair of boots, especially when they are teamed up with leggings or tights and a gorgeous dress. Our little Sybbie has just acquired her first pair of big girl boots and (we think) she just looks too cute:

Sybbie Tiptoe & Co 2

These pretty Minnie Boots (RRP $38.95, size 4-10) by Caroch were one of Tiptoe & Co’s topsellers last year, so they’re back for another Winter in a sweet pink, vibrant red and exclusive chocolate brown colour.

Minnie ChocolateThere is so much to love about the Minnie Boots: They are made from super soft cow leather and finished with fur lining to keep tiny toes toasty warm during the cold season, it’s like wearing slippers. The rubber sole is strong, durable and prevents slipping to help wobbly little legs from tumbling while the velcro closure makes it super easy to put them on and take them off, even for small hands who are still learning.

As a fun extra the Minnie boots are fitted with a little squeaker, which can easily be removed if desired. Miss 2 was absolutely delighted by this musical feature but as a mum of four I already feel quite the circus when going out so we’ve put the squeaker away for now.

Sybbie Minnie Boots

Australian online shoe store Tiptoe & Co has got kids’ feet covered with a range of of high quality baby, toddler and children’s shoes that are both stylish and affordable.

Little Blue Lamb ArcherI absolutely love these cool Archer Boys Sneakers (RRP $32.95, size 6-10) by Little Blue Lamb so I am a little sad that our son is genetically blessed with huge feet and won’t fit these awesome shoes. The neutral grey is very versatile and won’t show dirty marks easily, plus how funky is the silver toe? Our daughter has been a wearing a pair of Little Blue Lamb shoes all summer and the quality is simply outstanding.

Yumbox

For the past few months my Facebook feed has been filled with colourful images of the brand new and improved Yumbox range. Stores have been taking long lists of pre-orders and as soon as these beautiful pastel coloured lunch boxes were unpacked they were sent out to all those impatient mamas. The word on the street is that Yumboxes have once again sold out across the country but I managed to spot a few remaining ones hiding at Whimsy Child:

Yumbox Panino

Now available in fresh Gelato Blue and fruity Ananas Yellow the Yumbox would have to be one of the most popular bento style lunch boxes in Australia.

Yellow Ananas PaninoYumbox lunch boxes are strong, durable and reusable so they can transport healthy lunch after lunch. With its 3 cup capacity (large 2-cup compartment and two 1/2 cup compartments) the Yumbox Panino is a great size for hungry kids and even mums. While the Yumbox is dishwasher safe a quick hand wash is recommended to prolong the longevity of the seal. I hand wash our Yumboxes in the evening and let them dry overnight, so they are ready to go again in the morning.

Fox Lunch BagBy the way, if you live in a warm climate and are searching for a way to keep your lunchbox and snacks cool all day the Apple & Mint lunch bags are just what you need. They are the perfect match for a Yumbox lunchbox plus a squeezy yoghurt or a piece of fruit and keep your meals chilled for 8 hours thanks to their handy freezable cooling panel. Apple & Mint designs currently in stock include Yellow Polkadot, Purple Icecream, Blue Star and Black Fox.

Penguin Australia

A few weeks ago the twins were asked to bring their favourite book to school and master 6 (again!) brought in Max, just like last year. The gorgeous illustrations never lose their shine and the kids can look at them over and over again. I have no doubt that Marc Martin‘s latest release is going to be another huge hit:

A River

A River (RRP $24.99) is an absolutely beautiful picture book that will truly capture the reader’s imagination. Look through the window, hop on board of the little silver boat and follow the journey of the river.

A River 1

Through the city, beside the factories, alongside farms, in the midst of the forest, straight through the jungle, down water falls… flick the pages to see where the river takes that small silver boat. The combination of poetic words that flow like the water and eye catching pictures that draw in little eyes is simply perfect.

A River 2

We’ve already read A River several times and all our kids love it. Our 2-year likes looking at the pictures and spotting the boat on each page, whilst miss 4 loves the excitement leading up to the roaring water fall. You don’t need to make funny sounds or interesting voices to make this book ‘work’, just read the words and the story will stream like the water.

Like many other mums I often count on feedback from other parents to work our what movies are worth seeing with, and appropriate for, our children. After reading through a Facebook feed full of praise for Big Hero 6 we decided to treat our big three to a fun afternoon at the local cinema to see this great Disney movie on the big screen:

Big Hero 6Taking home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film in 2015 Big Hero 6, made by the talented team behind Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph, has proven to be an enormous hit. The futuristic comedy adventure tells the story of Hiro Hamada, a super talented 14-year old designer of microbots, and a huge inflatable robot called Baymax who develop a special friendship after the death of Hiro’s brother.

When the lovable duo discovers that someone has stolen Hiro’s microbots they set off to solve this evil mystery. Hiro and Baymax, together with interesting characters Go Go Tomago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred, form Big Hero 6. Who is controlling the microbots? Did Hiro’s brother die in vain? Will Big Hero 6 be able to turn bad into good after all?

While I think Big Hero 6 is possibly better suited to slightly older children our 6-year old twins did really enjoy Big Hero 6 and (to my surprise) managed to pick up quite a bit of the story line. Our 4-year old was definitely a bit too young to understand the events but she thought Baymax was very funny and she is keen to see the movie again, which means it’s thumbs up from all!

Big Hero 6 is available on DVD ($39.95) and Blu-ray ($49.95) at major retailers across Australia.
