At the start of a brand new year I am always excited, as if flipping over that page on my calendar magically opens up a world of new opportunities. When I see the words New Year I think of new plans, new chances, thinking positive, determination and getting your priorities straight. As a busy mum of four, I have noticed it is easy to get swallowed up by the day-to-day life of looking after the kids, running a household, doing paperwork and writing my blog. I have concluded that I want this year to be different. I want 2015 to be MY year.

CalendarIt appears I am not the only one who sees the New Year as the start of something fresh. With people all over Australia ready to make a change, Yellow Pages records more searches in January than any other month of the year. Even though 88% of New Year resolutions are abandoned before the end of the year it is obvious there are plenty of Aussies keen to get their life, look, home or job sorted using Yellow Pages as their starting point to find the products and services they need to achieve their goals.

You all know how much I love lists. Research has shown my three New Year resolutions are in line with what many Australians, and specifically South Australians, search for on Yellow Pages at the start of the New Year. Here are my top three:

1. Become a fitter, healthier version of me

Long time readers of Hip Little One will remember that losing weight was last year’s New Year resolution. The effect of my healthy eating and more active lifestyle is obvious and the results speak for themselves. This year, I want to raise my fitness game. I am looking at joining a gym or even hiring a local personal trainer to help me and keep me motivated throughout the year.

Did you know? With more than 10,500 searches online on Yellow Pages for health and fitness, chiropractors and podiatrists, January is clearly a popular month for people wanting to reclaim their health, including me.

2. Spend more quality time with my hubby

After eight years of marriage I am still madly in love with my husband, but now that we have four young children it is not that easy to schedule quality time for the two of us. With a small budget and no family to babysit, we may not be able to go out but a relaxing (and slightly naughty) take-away dinner in and a good movie is fun too and there are no dishes to do afterwards.

Relationships are worth investing in so make sure you make room in your agenda for a date night every now and then, even if it is just take away!

3. Work up the courage to get a fresh new haircut

Start with a change in 2015 and go for the chop! As you may know I am the boring owner of a plain and simple long blonde hairstyle, nothing fancy or eye catching just practical and easy. Twice a year I go to the hairdresser and come well prepared with some pretty pictures of gorgeous, trendy hairstyles, only to chicken out at the last minute and walk out with the same old hairstyle.
