We’ve only just come home from our European adventure and now school holidays are about to start again! I obviously won’t miss the morning rush and packing lunches every day but I will have to get organised and put some activities together as we used up all our craft and read all our books multiple times on the plane trip. At least I have got our two big girls covered with some awesome new additions to their Forever Clover collection:

Forever Clover Series 4

We’ve been collecting Forever Clover cards for quite some time, every now and then I treat my girls to a new pack and they enjoy watching their collection grow. If you haven’t heard of Forever Clover before you can read more about this wonderful Australian swap trend here, I am sure you will love it as much as my girls do.

Forever Clover Series 4 Swap PackForever Clover recently released a brand new series of cards and collectibles that is sure to be welcomed with open arms by existing fans and win over the hearts of the newcomers in a flash. All your favourite Forever Clover friends return in Series 4 with 72 gorgeous swap cards to collect, each card is beautifully illustrated and shows the girls on holiday, in their secret clubhouse, at the carnival and more.

Forever Clover Charm BraceletSome of the cards also show the girls’ favourite clover charms and the exciting news is that you can collect those charms too! There are 13 different charms available, just clip them on your very own Forever Clover Charm Bracelet or Key Ring (sold separately) and you’ll feel like a real Forever Clover girl yourself. Each series 4 pack contains 6 cards, 1 mini card and 1 special clover charm, which one do you like most? Other items in the range include albums, magnets collector tins and more.

Forever Clover Collector TinWith prices starting at just $3.95 for a swap card pack ($5.95 for series 4) Forever Clover is both fun and affordable, kids can save up and use their pocket money and (grand) parents can treat their girls to some new cards without breaking the bank. Even though my girls are far off from completing their album they really love playing with their cards, they are always making up stories and adventures based on the pictures.

In a time where there is way too much adult content available to young children Forever Clover offers sweet, innocent, child appropriate entertainment for young girls, such a welcome change. You can purchase Forever Clover cards at participating news agencies across the country and online.

Right now Hip Little One readers can enjoy an exclusive 25% off storewide at Forever Clover, simply enter the code ‘WIY7S6UIZU6T’ at checkout. Offer is valid for Australian orders only and will end on October 7, 2014.

Thanks to Forever Clover we have two fantastic Forever Clover prize packs (RRP $70) to give away. Each prize pack contains the Forever Clover series 4 album, a sticker and activity book, a series 3 tin, four series 4 swap card packs and one set of magnets, now wouldn’t that be an great boost for your Forever Clover collection?

The Holiday Diet

Uncategorized  Comments Off on The Holiday Diet
Sep 222014

Because we booked our plane tickets almost a year in advance (you have to grab a bargain when you can!) we had plenty of time to dream, plan and put together the perfect holiday. Visiting family and friends, shopping at my favourite shops and going to the weekly market, a little holiday-inside-the-holiday, fun days out, trips to the forest and beach, exploring different countries and much, much more, we were definitely not short of things to do.

Dutch market

Call me crazy but I also made a separate list for all the foods I really wanted to eat, something you probably won’t understand unless you have moved countries too. A yummy ‘Hollands Nieuwe’ (raw herring) with chopped onion from the markets, rookworst from the Hema, stroopwafels and gevulde koeken, a frikadel speciaal and a kroket from the wall, freshly baked dark brown bread, suikerbrood and eierkoeken, the list goes on and on.

Dutch tompouce

With four of us celebrating our birthday while in The Netherlands we also enjoyed our fair share of baked treats. We ate way too much apple pie, tompouce, Bosche bol, bolus than we should have and that’s only what I can remember, no doubt there was more! Hubby said the heartburn and indigestion were totally worth it (nothing some Gaviscon couldn’t fix) and I hope in time the scales will forgive me too. We only go on a holiday once every 2-3 years so that makes it OK right?

Dutch cheese supermarket

While you can find them in Australia Dutch cheese and licorice are simply too expensive, yet in The Netherlands it’s all so cheap and widely available so I made sure to eat plenty of it. I even stuffed every spare cm² of our 6 suitcases with more cheese and licorice to help me through my next bout of homesickness once we returned home. It’s fair to say that I am going through it very quickly, let’s hope I start feeling better before I run out…

What foods from your home country or childhood do you miss most?

Tiptoe&Co logo

Isn’t it amazing how a few short weeks can make a huge difference in a child’s development? I feel like we left Australia with a baby, only to return with a cheeky toddler 5 weeks later. Our snuggly baby who loved being carried has been swapped for an adventurous little girl who runs everywhere. While she loves walking around barefoot it is simply not always clean or safe so we’ve fitted her small chubby feet with some sweet new shoes from Tiptoe & Co:

Tiptoe & Co Toddler Girls

Being a mum herself Tiptoe & Co owner Chelsea knows all about shoe shopping for little ones. Good quality, leather, style, comfort and durability, the Tiptoe & Co footwear range ticks all the important boxes. Another excellent reason to shop Tiptoe & Co is the pleasant price tag as all shoes are priced at less than the recommended retail price, that’s more money to go back in your savings!

Freycoo Navy Flower ShoeFor our little miss 1 I chose these sweet Spring Baby Shoes ($28.95, size 6m – 24m), I think they are just gorgeous. Not only does the neutral navy colour go with almost anything, it is also great for hiding the inevitable scuffs and scrapes that our little explorer will make on them. Made with soft cow leather upper and pig leather lining they are breathable and comfortable for her growing feet.

The velcro strap makes them very easy to put on and off and, to my surprise, miss Sybbie happily leaves them on most of the time so that’s a big win. Another great feature of Freycoo infant shoes is the sole, it’s flexible enough for new and early walkers but also strong enough to be worn outside unlike many other baby shoes. The sole is fitted with two rubber anti-slip patches to provide extra grip for those wobbly legs.

Freycoo Navy Spring Shoes

To help you pick the right size Tiptoe & Co provides exact measurement of each shoe on the product pages and if you would love some extra advice about shoes and sizing they are just an email away.

Eva Toddler SandalAlthough the weather outside is far from warm and sunny we are hopeful Spring will soon arrive and miss 4 can put on these adorable Eva Toddler Sandals ($32.95) from well known label Little Blue Lamb. She can’t wait to expose her little toes to some sun and has impatiently been wearing them inside. It is not always easy to find sandals that fit well, often they are too wide, too narrow or too floppy but these fit beautifully, are supportive enough for active kids and the enclosed back keeps her heel nicely in place.

Little Blue Lamb Eva Sandals

Tiptoe & Co currently stocks popular brands Freycoo, Caroch and Little Blue Lamb with shoes for boys and girls, from little babies all the way up to decent size 30. With a bit of luck you can shop for all your little ones in one go!

Disney Junior

Brought to you by Nuffnang and Disney Junior

Spending 20 hours (one way) on a plane with four young children under six is probably not anyone’s idea of having a relaxing time and I’ll admit I had been quite worried about how the kids would go on such long flights. Of course I had prepared them a backpack each filled with little distractions but I was also hoping the Singapore Air in-flight entertainment would offer some relief. It was a lovely surprise to see their favourite Disney Junior shows were just a few clicks away, just what we needed to keep them happy!

Doc McStuffins

While we don’t have the Disney Junior TV Channel at home we regularly visit the Disney Junior website on www.DisneyJunior.com.au (only accessible via PC or Mac) to watch some short episodes online. It is also a fantastic resource for FREE games, activities, colouring pages and even reward charts, just print and enjoy! School holidays are just around the corner so if your child is crazy about the lovely Sofia the First, the adventurous Jake and the Never Land Pirates and the always helpful Doc McStuffins (like our two big girls) this is definitely a website worth bookmarking.

Lambie Soft Toy

Ever since miss 4 first saw Doc McStuffins on TV she has been madly in love with this friendly girl and her toy entourage. She has gathered quite the collection of Doc toys already and Lambie no.2 (oh the tears when she lost Lambie no.1!) is her favourite bed time buddy. Doc McStuffins may be small in age but she has big dreams and wants to become a doctor just like her mum, not a bad goal to have if you ask me! You’re never too young to learn so she is starting with her own home practice where she checks out, diagnoses and fixes any toy that needs a bit of special care.

Doc McStuffins Ball

As I would expect from Disney Doc McStuffins is innocent and age appropriate for young children so I can safely let my little ones watch the show and play the games. They enjoy the stories and at the same time they’re learning about simple but important things like caring for each other, problem solving, health, hygiene, doctor visits and friendship.

By the way, if you’re looking for some fun things to do on Talk Like A Pirate Day tomorrow (September 19) make sure you check out the Disney Junior website. There are lots of great Jake and the Never Land Pirates activities to download like colouring-in pages, a certificate, build-your-own puppet theatre, pirate hat, treasure chest and much more. Ahoy me hearties!

To find out more about Disney Junior, to learn all about the characters, watch videos and play fun games visit www.disneyjunior.com.au.

Magic Talking Doc and FriendsThanks to Disney Junior Australia we have an awesome Doc McStuffins Prize Pack (RRP $74.98) to give away. Just answer one simple question to enter but be quick as this speedy giveaway ends next Friday. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. By entering this giveaway you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
