Joolz

If you are a regular Hip little one reader you may have spotted a little snippit about my very exciting collaboration with Joolz. It has been a few weeks since I got my hands on one of the amazing Joolz prams and I have been proudly walking my new ride across Adelaide every chance I get, it is such a delight to push around! Because I know some of you haven’t heard of Joolz before I thought a bit of an introduction might be in order:

Dutch glory, meet Joolz

Dutch glory, meet Joolz

Joolz is a creative designer label from The Netherlands (just like me!) creating high quality, innovative products for modern families. Originally born in Amsterdam in 2005 Joolz has quickly conquered a prime spot in the luxury market and their stylish jewels (Joolz) are now available in more than 20 countries all across the globe. Joolz is all about ‘Positive Design’: healthy, ergonomically designed products skillfully created with child and parent in mind and at the same time responsibly engineered to contribute to a more sustainable environment for our children to grow up in.

The current Joolz pram range consists of three different collections: Joolz Day, Joolz Day Earth and the brand new Joolz Day Studio, which will be available at Joolz stockists Australia wide as of tomorrow March 1.

Joolz DayAfter several years of extensive research the original Joolz Day was introduced in 2007, impressing hip parents with its classy, luxurious look and many great features. Built with high quality, durable materials and finished with the most beautiful details the Joolz Day is an ‘upper class’ pram that oozes style and character. Every aspect of the design is made to offer superior support and comfort for the little passenger as well as the adult pushing the pram.

What may surprise you is that Joolz prams are not created by a mum, or even a woman, but (shock horror) a man. He has to be one hell of a catch as he clearly has an amazing sense of style, an eye for detail and a sixth sense for what parents want and look for when selecting the right pram for their family. From a sleek, smooth frame to a convertible seat, from an adjustable handle bar that suits parents of all heights to a compact fold for car or home and don’t forget the four wheel suspension that makes this pram ideal for any terrain, Joolz has got all your demands covered.

Joolz Day Earth collection

Joolz Day Earth collection

Following the huge success of the Joolz Day a wonderful new collection was welcomed to the Joolz family, aptly called Joolz Day Earth. The Joolz Day Earth collection captures the beauty of nature in six amazing colours: Parrot blue, Turtle green, Elephant grey , Monkey maroon and the latest additions Lobster red and Camel beige. One of the stand out features of the Joolz Day Earth collection is the brown leatherette handle bar and safety bar, these look absolutely stunning and are very eye catching.

As you may have spotted I have been pushing around the Joolz Day Earth in classy Parrot blue, stay tuned for a more indept review and photos in the near future.

Joolz Day Studio BlackThe Joolz design team clearly never sits still as tomorrow a brand new range will be released. The Joolz Day Studio series has been created in close collaboration with young designers and ordinary parents like you and I, resulting in a fresh collection of materials, colours and designs. The first two French romance inspired creations Joolz Day Studio Noir and Joolz Day Studio Gris will be hitting Australian stockists in the next few weeks, I can’t wait to see these delights ‘in the flesh’!

I am hoping to catch a glimpse of them at the Pregnancy, Baby and Children’s Expo this March and will share some more Joolz Day Studio love upon my return.

Penguin Australia

Two weeks ago the twins were asked to select their favourite book and bring it to school for Show and Tell, quite a tricky decision when you are five. After lots of umming and ahing they settled on a title each, miss 5 chose a new picture book that we’ve read endlessly over the past month or so by much loved Australian author Aaron Blabey (you may know him for Noah Dreary and The Dreadfull Fluff). The Brothers Quibble is officially available in Australia as of yesterday and I LOVE reading this book to the kids, I think you will enjoy it too:

The Brothers Quibble by Aaron Blabey

The Brothers Quibble by Aaron Blabey

In The Brothers Quibble Spalding Quibble is in for a ‘nasty’ surprise, used to being the king of the castle he is now presented with a baby brother called Bunny and he is not happy about it. Spalding is making very clear what he thinks of this little intruder and everyone in the house is miserable. But as Bunny grows he manages, little by little, to turn Spaldings anger into love and in the end Spalding realises that a little brother can also make an awesome friend.

Spalding

Spalding didn’t understand.
He felt a bit delirious.
He took his mother by the hand
and said: ‘You can’t be serious?’

‘Is this some sort of joke?’, he cried.
‘It really isn’t funny.’
‘Hush now, Spalding,’ mother sighed,
‘And say hello to…

The Brothers Quibble is beautifully written and covers a topic that many families deal with at some point in time, the arrival of a new sibling. Dressed in a pretty jacket of gorgeous illustrations and covered in a delightful sauce of rhyme, humor and words that flow like a wave this book is a pleasure to read, look at and listen to, I could read this book over and over without it ever getting boring.

Spalding and Bunny

You see, despite the pain that came
 with every whack or shove,
Bunny spoke his brother’s name
 with nothing less than love.

The twins’ teacher and the children in the class loved The Brothers Quibble so much that they have requested to borrow it so they can read it again in class, I told you it was a winner!

Little Cocoa Bean

After the huge success of the last Little Cocoa Bean collection everyone has been waiting in anticipation for the new Autumn/Winter range to arrive at Baby Donkie and let me tell you, it does not disappoint. The prints are unique and eye catching, the styles are gender neutral, hip and practical and the organic cotton fabric is soft, comfortable and safe, it’s a win on all fronts.

LCB

This season’s main colours are timeless black, white and navy with a funky touch of gold metallic, because sometimes all a rainy day needs is a bit of sparkle. New Little Cocoa Bean prints include a geometric print, mountain pattern and all over leopard design as well as last year’s hot favourite, the arrow print. The range is currently available in sizes newborn up to 2 years old and consists of leggings, skirts and long sleeve t-shirts as well as beanies and even a baby blanket.

LCB2

All pieces are designed for easy mixing and matching, with eachother or other items from your wardrobe. If you are not afraid of an all-over pattern you can go for the Little Cocoa Bean signature look with long sleeve t-shirt, leggings or skirt and a super cool slouch beanie. For a more neutral combination team a printed piece up with a cool pair of jeans or a plain top, you can style Little Cocoa Bean to suit your taste.

As you may know I am originally from The Netherlands and moved here in 2006 to marry my wonderful Aussie husband. Last week marked 7.5 years since I came here, just me with one suitcase ready to start a new life in a new country. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret my choice and would do it again in a heartbeat but I have to be honest, it is not easy living so far away from your family.

Opa meeting Olivia for the first time at 5 weeks old

Opa meeting Olivia for the first time at 5 weeks old

I miss them on birthdays and Mother’s Day, at Christmas time and school performances and on many ordinary days where I would love to just see, and spend time with, my parents and siblings (it makes me terribly sad that my children have to grow up without their grandparents around). I also miss them on days like today, I have been feeling under the weather for a few weeks now and I know my mum and dad would immediately come and help me out at home and with the kids if only they had been closer.

Opa and Juliet

Opa and Juliet

Before the children were born I could just hop in bed at the first sign of a cold or fever, leave the housework be for a day or two and rest up until better. Now that I am a mum ‘calling in sick’ is not an option anymore, who would look after the kids, prepare our meals and stay on top of our rather huge laundry pile? There is no time to sit and rest, it’s just a case of some aspirin to beat any fever and provide quick pain relief to help keep me going. Hopefully I’ll be all chirpy again soon but if you don’t hear from me tomorrow you can find me in bed!

Speaking of sick family members, don’t forget that we have two of the very handy ‘Unravelling the Magic of Discovery’ parenting guides from Nurofen to give away, a very handy book for parents full of useful advice and interesting insights to make life with little ones a bit easier. You can read my original post here or you can take a short cut and enter below.

P.S. Next holiday I will definitely make some more snaps of Oma with her grand children and of course both of them meeting Sybbie for the first time, I can’t believe she’ll be almost 18

Shnookums

As I walked into school this week I spotted one of the twins’ class mates with a big empty spot exactly where his front tooth had been just last week. All I could think was that surely children don’t lose their first tooth at 5 years old? I realised how quick our babies are growing up, while I hope it is still a while off I am afraid it won’t be long before our own children start losing their precious baby teeth too. If you are looking for a cute Tooth Fairy tradition of your own you’ll love this sweet Tooth Fairy Doll at Shnookums:

Tooth Fairy Doll Front

This delightful Ragtales Tooth Fairy Doll is sure to catch the imagination of little children with her head full of hair and adorable purple outfit. Kids can pop the lost milk tooth in her tiny backpack and in the morning they’ll find it replaced by a shiny coin, I wonder what the going rate for baby teeth is these days? If you know please drop me a note so I can leave our tooth fairy some helpful instructions.

Tooth Fairy Doll Back

As children have a fair few teeth to lose these nightly visits are a costly business for the Tooth Fairy, at least you can save yourself some big bucks on the Tooth Fairy Doll. She is currently on sale for just $15, what a bargain and such a lovely keepsake!

Eeni Meeni logo

When I look outside and see the rain and sad, grey skies it is hard to believe it is only February, surely Summer is not over yet? Whether you like it or not it is time to pull out the long pants, dig up the cardigans and dust off the jackets, only to discover that the kids have grown so much this year that their wardrobe needs a total makeover. Don’t worry, Eeni Meeni Miini Moh is here to help with a brand new (and of course absolutely beautiful) Autumn/Winter collection that has been released just yesterday:

As you may know Eeni Meeni Miini Moh has got stylish kids from birth up to 12 years old covered with four great ranges: Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Pure Newborn (0-3 months), Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Enfant (0-24 months), Eeni Meeni Miini Moh (0-5 years) and e3-M (2-12 years). These are our favourite looks for the season ahead:

Eeni Mandarin

Eeni Boys Polo ShirtUsually I start with the girls (because I have three of them!) so this time I might begin with the boys instead, lucky for me I have one of those too. This Autumn real Eeni boys will be sporting the bright and funky mandarin colour, combined with classic shades of blue and grey. It’s amazing how much a pop of colour can do on a dreary day, I think it looks fantastic! This Mandarin Stripe Polo T-shirt ($44.95, size 6m-5) is one of my favourites.

Eeni Cuff PantAs always this Eeni Meeni Miini Moh collection is designed for easy mixing and matching with lots of timeless styles and colours that will become much loved staples in your son’s wardrobe. This season brings some beautiful boys jeans, cargo pants, slim fit pants, track pants and these cool Boys Cuff Pants (from $79.95, size 2-12). They are available in a range of colours and all are finished with soft grey knitted waist and ankle cuff details, both warm and funky.

Eeni Grey

Girls have a rainbow of choices too: navy or grey marle, tangarine or madarin, orchid or sorbet, steel or tangerine and much more, which one is your favourite shade of awesome?

Eeni Navy Stripe Frill TopPersonally I am a big fan of blue on girls so I am very chuffed with the new collection, so many lovely navy pieces! My pick for our blonde haired daughter would be this sweet Navy Stripe Frill Top ($44.95, size 6m – 5), it features a gorgeous frill neckline at the front and a cute tie closure at the back. Team it up with skeggings or jeans for a pretty and practical outfit that is ideal for girls who are not much into pink and love their outdoor play.

Balloon DressFor miss 5 I am heading straight for the dresses, this Balloon Dress (from $79.95, size 2-12) is available in neutral grey marle or warm eggplant finished with that wonderful tangerine colour. Both look amazing with the Tangerine Spot Skegging and of course the matching Tangerine Headband. Many mums will be pleased to hear that this year the extremely popular signature skeggings (leggings + skirt) are available up to size 8.

Eeni Paisley DressThis stunning Eeni Meeni Miini Moh Dress ($89.95, size 6m – 5) is probably my favourite piece from the entire range, I fell in love with it the moment I first saw it. This style is available in pale grey and steel or tangerine and sorbet, it’s a classic A line cut with puffed sleeves and the most divine ruffled organza collar. Now that you’ve seen my hot picks I’d love to hear yours, share your favourites below and you could win a $100 gift voucher to spend on the new AW14 collection!

e3-M

Until March 7, 2014, shoppers can earn extra bonus loyalty points when purchasing items from the new Autumn/Winter range. With 1,5 points per dollar spent now is the time to buy your favourite pieces and fast track your way to some free Eeni Meeni Miini Moh gear! Just log in and save.
