While it is usually very easy to pick gifts for your own children it can be quite tricky to find the right gift for little friends, class mates and neighbourhood buddies. Often there are quite a few little people to buy for (costs add up quickly!) and you don’t always know exactly what they like. The clever team at Tiger Tribe knows all about these tricky receivers which is why they have designed a huge range of affordable kids toys and gifts that will get the thumbs up from every child.

There are lots of gorgeous girly goodies to choose from with popular themes like fairies, princesses, mermaids, forest animals and of course dress ups. This Piccolo Colouring Set ($11.95) is specifically created for girls aged 5+ and I think our 5-year old would love it. The gorgeous little kits with 2 handy storage drawers are filled to the brim with art supplies to keep kids busy these school holidays: 48 colouring-in pages, 5 sheets of stickers and 10 markers. Perfect for a visit to grandma’s house too!
Another hot favourite for the girls is the Make & Play Fairy Activity Set ($14.95, 3+). This lovely activity kit is double the fun, first kids can get creative with paper, markers and stickers. Then parents can help them put all the pieces (wings, tiara, wands, treasure chest) together to make a real fairy costume, after all there is nothing more fun than a magical game of make believe. Bonus: No glue or scissors needed (ideal for the plane).
When you are travelling by car, train or plane you want to pack light and pick toys that can be used again and again, like this Piccolo Magnet Book ($9.95, 3+). More dressing up fun ahead but this time it’s two adorable little magnetic dolls that need a new outfit. The handbag sized Magnet Book contains one magnetic scene and a sheet full of magnets, just pop them out and have fun playing fashion designer with this stylish mini wardrobe. Move, mix, match, swap, change, it’s all up to you!
I have to admit that I had a hard time picking a favourite from all the cute stamp sets (one can never have enough stamps!) but I eventually I decided on the Sweet Thing Forest Friends ($11.95, 6+). Forest animals are very popular right now and with these sweet little stamps you can add them to all your drawings, letters and cards. The set contains a pink and red ink pad and 4 adorable stamps: a fox, bear, squirrel and raccoon.
My girls love being ‘just like mum’ and of course that involves carrying around a beautiful handbag. This month Tiger Tribe has released this colourful Bluebird Handbag ($14.95, 3+) which I think will be a top seller this Christmas. It’s the perfect size for all those special treasures that little ladies like to take along when they get out and about. The cheerful red handles make it the ideal accessory for a wonderful Christmas outfit.
Move over glitter and pink, time for the cool boys to have a peek in the Tiger Tribe treasure chest:
I think you’ll have a hard time finding a cooler boys gift at a price like this. The brand new Super Clay Mini Tubs (4+) cost just $7.95 each so you can afford to stash a few away in your present cupboard. Each little tub contains super clay in different colours and the robot parts you need to create your very own robot. The clay is non-toxic, mess free, easy to mould and air hardening. It’s even reusable so it’s endless fun in a tub.
Fasten your seatbelts, get ready for take off and off you go! If you’re looking for a great stocking filler you can’t go past these classic wooden Pull-Back Aeroplanes ($11.95, 3+). No batteries, no flashing lights and no noise (except for the sound of your child’s imagination), it’s back to the good old days of decent toys. The Pull-Back Aeroplanes are available in four different designs, so if you have multiple boys to shop for this will avoid arguments and mix-ups.
Because I liked the girls Magnet Book so much I also selected a Piccolo Magnet Book ($9.95, 3+) for boys, featuring planets and robots this time. Who said boys can’t be creative? Bring out the artist in your little man with these colourful magnets, all the pieces are there to make a family of quirky robots. The compact size of this set makes it perfect as on-the-go entertainment while you wait at the doctor’s office or during the church sermon.
With our own 5-year old son in mind this Inflatable World Globe ($14.95, 3+) would have to be my number 1 pick, he is very interested in different countries (especially because half of our family lives overseas) so he would go crazy for this. When all they see is ‘flat’ world maps it can be hard for kids to understand that the world is in fact round. It’s fun to play with, fun to learn from and fun to look as decoration in your bedroom too! Packs up flat and inflated it measures an impressive 50cm in size.
Last but not least I chose the Piccolo Sticker Book ($9.95, 3+), I don’t know what it is about stickers but kids always get excited about them. With 8 pages of scenes and more than 50 reusable stickers young transport fanatics are sure to appreciate the On the move Sticker Book. There are three different Sticker Books to choose from and because they’re flat packed they make a perfect present to post to family interstate or overseas.
