A roaring lion, a magician with a rabbit in a hat, a delicate tight rope dancer, a cheeky clown and a very flexible acrobat… Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the circus is coming to town! Created by the very talented designers of Ebulobo the brand new Magic Circus Collection is sure to delight young and old and you can find it on the shelves at Coccinella:

Ebulobo Circus

Ebulobo Magic Circus Collection

Over the past few years we have come to know and love French toy brand Ebulobo for it’s unique, colourful, charming designs and the new range is once again a winner. The classic circus theme is always a favourite and just never gets old, it brings back old memories for adults and introduces little ones to the magical world under the big top.

Betty the Tightrope DollHow gorgeous is pretty Betty the Tightrope Doll ($44.95)? Betty wears a sweet tulle tutu and purple velvet cape decorated with stars, both can be removed for lots of dressing fun. Standing 35 cm tall and with flexible long arms and legs she makes a perfect huggable friend for a special little girl. Great bonus: after a few too many drops from the tightrope or bed (don’t worry she won’t get injured) she can be machine washed. Betty comes packaged in a lovely gift box, a beautiful Christmas gift idea.

Ernesto the Musical RabbitThen there is Ernesto the Musical Rabbit ($56.95), a cute twist on the rabbit in the hat act. Don’t worry, you are never too small to pull this trick! Pull the strings until Ernesto is out of the hat, then watch as the little white bunny slowly disappears back into the hat while playing a lovely lullaby. I think Ernesto looks just adorable and I am sure kids will keep practising this trick again and again.

Marcel the Circus LionA traditional circus wouldn’t be a circus without Marcel the Lion ($69.95) to keep the public on the edge of their seat. Of course there is no need to be scared of this furry animal, he’s already had his dinner. Marcel’s tummy is filled with Ernesto, Alfred and even the ringmaster, hours of fun guaranteed with this fabulous activity set. There are six different circus characters to choose from and they all have their own unique features to discover and play with. Prices start at $33.95.

Before the twins were born (and even before we started trying for a baby) I already had a soft spot for children’s books. For as long as I can remember I have loved reading and I always hoped my future children would love reading as much as I do. Children’s books are often too beautiful to hide away in a cupboard and they look gorgeous on display on a shelf in the nursery. Keep your child’s favourite stories neat and tidy with these adorable new Zuny bookends from Avidiva:

Zuny Jack RussellIt’s a bit like Noah’s ark, more and more animals keep walking out of those doors and the Zuny family just keeps growing. This hip homewares label has discovered the perfect combination of style and functionality so it is no wonder many modern Aussie families are welcoming these cute and beautiful ‘pets’ into their household. Nice bonus: they are quiet, don’t need feeding or walking and they won’t cause itchy noses either.

Zuny Yellow GiraffeFrom a hungry little hippo to a longnecked giraffe and from a cheeky Jack Russel to a friendly elephant and more, there are currently nine different Zuny bookends available at Avidiva. All Zuny designs are lovingly handmade and would be a beautiful, eye catching addition to a child’s bedroom, playroom or even your own livingroom or office. Weighing in at ca. 1kg each these are not just useful on the bookshelf, they make a super classy doorstopper too.

Breasts, boobs, bust, if there was one right time to talk about them now is it (even if it makes you feel uncomfortable). As you may know the month of October is all about breast cancer awareness with many businesses and individuals joining the ‘pink team’ and raising much needed funds for breast cancer research. The aim is to have zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030 and to get there we need your help. Don’t worry, helping out is easier than you think:

Bonds Shaper TopsThere are many different ways to help raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), like organising a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, hosting an event with your friends, school or club or you can join the team at Bonds. Australia’s favourite underwear label Bonds are experts at making comfy undies but they know all about breasts too and they have been proud supporters of the NBCF for years.

When you shop online at www.bonds.com.au you can simply add your donation for the NBCF during the checkout process and the awesome people at Bonds will match your donation dollar for dollar!

Bonds Sporty TopsAs you probably now shopping for the right bra is quite the challenge as all women are different in shape, size, style and taste. After lots and lots of research Bonds has come up with a brand new range of bras that has got pretty much every woman covered. The exciting Bonds Boobs range consists of seven different bras in lots of stylish colours and with a size range from 8A to 16G you will have no trouble finding a bra that fits. Prices start at $29.95 up to $39.95.

Bonds Bumps BraAs a breastfeeding mama I was pleased to discover that Bonds even thought of plain old Mama Boobs. If you are looking for a comfortable, wireless maternity/nursing bra look no further than the Bonds Bumps Bra ($39.95). This soft cup bra is designed to give you a beautiful shape and looks fabulous under clothing. This style is available in classic black and white and the practical drop cup design offers easy nursing access.

Bonds Push ItGet the smooth look with Bonds Slinky Tops, create the wow factor with Bonds Push It or keep your bigger bust in place with the Bonds Shaper Top, which Bonds bra are you? One of my lovely friends swears by the comfy, snug fit of the new Bonds Sporty Top so I may have to get myself one of those soon. Need a good excuse to give your underwear drawer a little makeover? Buy 3 items in the Bonds online store and get 30% off or 4 items and get 40% off, offer valid for a limited time only.

The Best of TV & Movies logo

Before I moved to Australia in 2006 the only Aussie tv shows I knew were The Crocodile Hunter, Neighbours and McLeod’s Daughter’s (Don’t laugh when I tell you that I was quite shocked to discover that my new home town of Adelaide did not at all resemble the Australia I had seen on Dutch TV!). I have come a long way since then and know a lot more about Aussie TV, or so I thought until I sat down for a game of The Best of TV & Movies:

The Best of TV & Movies by The Logo Board Game

The Best of TV & Movies ($35) by The Logo Board Game

From the makers of The Logo Board Game now comes a brand new entertainment edition which is specifically created for the Australian public. Get your friends together and test your knowledge of everyone’s favourite Aussie tv shows, series, movies, famous lines and actors as well some international legends while playing The Best of TV & Movies ($35, ages 12+). The game is suitable for 2 to 6 players (or 2 teams) and is very easy to play, if only the questions were that easy too!

The Logo Board GameSimple questions like ‘Name the airborne TV series that ran from 1986 to 1994’, ‘What Sunday show have watched Ray, Charles, Jana and Liz present on?’ and ‘Name the show Moll Meldrum hosted from 1974 until 1987’ are just for warming up, some of the trickier ones are sure to have you scratching your head. It quickly became clear that I still have a lot of catching up to do and my husband was crowned the proud winner (this time!).

With 400 question cards and 4 questions per card The Best of TV & Movies offers hours and hours of fun, a perfect game for a relaxing evening spent with friends or family. Each coloured space on the board represents a different question on the card and by answering the questions correctly you move closer and closer to the winning zone. The player/team that first passes the final winning zone test wins.

MooseIf you think you’ve got what it takes and know all there is to know about Australian TV and movies you can test your knowledge online at www.logobestoftv.com.au. You are not just playing for honoue, there are great prizes up for grabs for the real connoisseurs (How does $500 worth of movie tickets sound?). The Best of TV & Movies is another great game by Australia’s toy specialist Moose Toys.

This past month a few people have commented on the lovely raccoon blanket that you often see in my Facebook photos of baby Sybil, everyone seems to love it (so do we!) and wants to know where to buy it. Well, I am excited to share that this gorgeous minky blanket is part of the Samiboo blanket range at online boutique La Mami and wonderful owner and mum Joanna is kindly giving you the chance to win one too.

Samiboo Minky CarsMums all across Australia are quickly falling in love with Samiboo‘s fantastic range of baby wraps, bed linen, pillows and accessories. Made in Europe from quality fabrics, including bamboo, and featuring unique, colourful prints their designs are a great fit for modern families. The luxurious Minky Blankets (from $79) are absolutely delightful and very versatile, whether you use them in the cot, on the couch, in the pram, car or play pen they are sure to keep your baby comfortable and looking stylish.

Samiboo Raccoon Minky blanket

Samiboo Raccoon Minky blanket

Samiboo Minky StrawberryThere are many Minky Blanket designs to choose from in both boy and girl styles, popular themes include cars, birds, cupcakes, planes, butterflies and more. All blankets are reversible with cute printed cotton on one side and super soft plush minky in a matching colour on the other side for your baby to snuggle into. You can even select different sizes and weights to suit the environment and season, I chose the extra weight to make a lovely, cushioned play rug for our little girl.

Samiboo Bamboo Cot Blanket

Samiboo Bamboo Cot Blanket

For summer time Samiboo also has a lighter bedding option in the shape of the handmade Bamboo Cot Blanket ($89) and the Bamboo Muslin Cot Blanket ($79). Bamboo is an environmentally friendly fabric that is soft and gentle on your baby’s skin, it is also naturally antibacterial and will help keep your little one cool on hot days. Thanks to the anti allergenic properties of bamboo it is a popular choice for eczema sufferers. While these two designs are called blanket they can easily be used as a wrap, sheet or even a sunshade too.

Samiboo Cot BlanketThe standard Bamboo Cot Blanket is silky smooth and measuring 110x110cm it is a great size for swaddling your baby. Our little Sybil is still being wrapped at bed time and I love how soft this cute owl print blanket is against her skin, especially important on warmer days when it is placed directly against her bare legs and arms. If you do live in a hot climate the lighter, more airy muslin version is probably the best pick for you.

Double Duty Dress

Mum  Comments Off on Double Duty Dress
Oct 182013

While I (obviously) love shopping for our little ones I am afraid I am not that keen on shopping for myself these days. Like many other mums I know I rarely (read never!) have a free minute to go into a shop alone and calmly browse the aisles and I also feel a little guilty spending money on myself. But with spring now in full swing and a lovely summer holiday in Europe on the horizon I couldn’t resist buying myself this cute little dress when I spotted it in the Target Online Store:

Frill SundressThere are currently lots of lovely trendy spring dresses to choose from but this Frill Sundress ($39) really jumped out to me: it’s bright and cheerful, colourful, easy to wear and very forgiving for my post baby shape (just what I need while I work hard to shift the last baby kilos). I always look for garments that I can wear on different occasions by simply changing the accessories and this dress is absolutely perfect for doing that double duty.

Perfect outfit for a day at the beach

Perfect outfit for a day at the beach

We love visiting the beach and with four young children I am always short of hands and eyes, there is definitely no time to carefully fold clothes or fiddle around with zips and buttons. The stylish Frill Sundress by iconic surfwear brand Piping Hot is obviously ideal for the beach, just slip it on over your bathers, slide your feet in some sweet thongs and off you go. When you’re heading for a swim simply stuff this dress in your bag and if you have to wear it over wet togs the fabric will dry quickly.

Cute Melon ThongsTo save myself time I ordered the dress online and chose Click & Collect, a free service that allows you to pick up your order at your local Target store without having to pay postage. Once they sent me an email and SMS confirmation I just popped into the store to pick it up and while I was there I chose these cute Spalding Thongs ($15) in fresh melon colour to match the dress. These thongs are super comfy and surprisingly supportive (clearly a quality product), I may have to get them in another colour too.

Dressing it up

Dressing it up

Turqoise Peeptoe WedgeLazy summer days often include a picnic in the park, a yummy barbeque with friends or simple eating out, you can take the beach out of this dress by adding a pair of on-trend wedges (or dressy sandals if you prefer flat) and an eye catching necklace. Because I wanted the second look to be different I avoided going for the lovely melon colour again but chose to highlight the crisp blue and teal colours instead. I chose this necklace ($20) which looks lovely on, now to find the right shoes!
