While I (obviously) love shopping for our little ones I am afraid I am not that keen on shopping for myself these days. Like many other mums I know I rarely (read never!) have a free minute to go into a shop alone and calmly browse the aisles and I also feel a little guilty spending money on myself. But with spring now in full swing and a lovely summer holiday in Europe on the horizon I couldn’t resist buying myself this cute little dress when I spotted it in the Target Online Store:
There are currently lots of lovely trendy spring dresses to choose from but this Frill Sundress ($39) really jumped out to me: it’s bright and cheerful, colourful, easy to wear and very forgiving for my post baby shape (just what I need while I work hard to shift the last baby kilos). I always look for garments that I can wear on different occasions by simply changing the accessories and this dress is absolutely perfect for doing that double duty.
We love visiting the beach and with four young children I am always short of hands and eyes, there is definitely no time to carefully fold clothes or fiddle around with zips and buttons. The stylish Frill Sundress by iconic surfwear brand Piping Hot is obviously ideal for the beach, just slip it on over your bathers, slide your feet in some sweet thongs and off you go. When you’re heading for a swim simply stuff this dress in your bag and if you have to wear it over wet togs the fabric will dry quickly.
To save myself time I ordered the dress online and chose Click & Collect, a free service that allows you to pick up your order at your local Target store without having to pay postage. Once they sent me an email and SMS confirmation I just popped into the store to pick it up and while I was there I chose these cute Spalding Thongs ($15) in fresh melon colour to match the dress. These thongs are super comfy and surprisingly supportive (clearly a quality product), I may have to get them in another colour too.
Lazy summer days often include a picnic in the park, a yummy barbeque with friends or simple eating out, you can take the beach out of this dress by adding a pair of on-trend wedges (or dressy sandals if you prefer flat) and an eye catching necklace. Because I wanted the second look to be different I avoided going for the lovely melon colour again but chose to highlight the crisp blue and teal colours instead. I chose this necklace ($20) which looks lovely on, now to find the right shoes!
