Father’s Day always sneaks up on me, I think it is because in my home country Father’s Day is in June so by the time it gets to September it has already drifted to the back of my mind. Obviously I don’t mean to forget, my husband is an amazing father and he really deserves to be spoilt by me and the kids, but somehow I only remember it when there is just a few days left. So what do you get someone who claims he’s got everything he needs and doesn’t care about a box of chocolates, new boxer shorts or fancy BBQ tools? I know he will be much happier with a replacement for something he uses every day so this year he will be getting a Remington Titanium Pivot & Flex shaver.

The Titanium Pivot & Flex shavers are designed with flexing foils and pivoting heads so the shaver can follow the contours of the face and offer the closest shave possible in any direction. The cordless F5790 model features three independent flexing, titanium coated foils and the 3-position pop-up trimmer looks after sideburns, necklines and moustaches (for those dads who are gearing up for Movember!). Obviously I don’t know too much about shavers but I do know to look for charging time (battery level indicator and 5 minute quick charge, no excuse for an unshaven look), wash ability (rinse under running water), power supply (worldwide voltage, a must when travelling) and warranty (2 years).

If your husband is anything like mine he hates the thought of us spending hundreds of dollars on his Father’s Day present, yet he does like to receive something nice and useful that is of good quality and lasts long. The Remington Titanium Pivot & Flex range contains several styles with prices starting at just $83.95. The F5790 costs $103.95 which I feel is a very good price for the features it comes with and the long warranty, making this a durable investment. And just in case I have got it completely wrong, if within 30 days he is not completely happy with it we can return it to Remington for a full refund. I wish everything I bought came with such a fantastic money back guarantee!

The Remington Titanium Pivot & Flex shavers (RRP $83.95 – $153.95) are available from leading electrical retailers.

Well, all week I have been busy preparing for a fabulous 3rd birthday party for the twins. They have been talking about their birthday for weeks, maybe even months, and they have impatiently been crossing off squares on our handmade calendar until the big day. Although their actual birthday is Monday the party was planned for tomorrow so that everyone could come.

Unfortunately yesterday the birthday girl became rather unwell and after a visit to the doctor we decided we had no option but to cancel the party, I haven’t told them yet but I know they will be devastated! As I am typing this I am looking at all the gorgeous party goodies I have been collecting for months, I was very much looking forward to serving some delicious party snacks in these Paper Baking Cups from Paper Eskimo. They are simply perfect and I am so sad I don’t get to use them (for now)!

These cute cups may be called Baking Cups but they are not just designed for baked treats, they are actually suitable for all kinds of hot, cold, solid and liquid party foods. From cupcakes to ice cream, fruit salad to chocolate mousse, cheesecake to jelly, these cups are so versatile they are an absolute must have for any party. Obviously they are not made of ordinary paper but a special paper material that can resist oil and heat, will not fade and retains liquid, pretty clever I think!

There are 11 different designs to choose from so there is a perfect Paper Baking Cup for any occasion. With a range of gorgeous colours (even black and white) and prints (stripes, spots, hearts, stars) Paper Eskimo has made sure to cater for every party. The Paper Eskimo Paper Baking Cups cost just $6.95 per pack of 25, a fantastic price for such a versatile and high quality product and with so many cups per pack you can serve quite a few guests. They are also not too big so they are great for kids and there will be less waste afterwards.

Aside from these fabulous cups Paper Eskimo sells a whole range of other stunning party products so putting together a themed party look is really easy. One of my favourites is the above pictured Big Top Circus Theme, hence my choice of the red/white striped cups for the twins birthday. If we get to do the party next week (I hope we will) I will definitely make some photo’s of these Baking Cups in action!

In the past two years I have met many lovely mums who try their hardest at combining their family life with the running of an online business. It is most certainly not an easy job and I know that they, unlike big retail chains, really appreciate every single order that comes in. I always have a quick read of the ‘About us’ section when I visit a new store, it is so nice to put a story and sometimes even a photo to a name.

Australian mum Priscilla runs the online store The Little Monkeys, where she sells children’s clothing, accessories and even some goodies for mum. Her aim is to provide families with gorgeous, fun, unique and affordable products whilst providing only outstanding customer service and nothing less. Priscilla looks after her customers with care from the beginning till the end, personally inspecting and packing your order and answering every email and phone call herself.

At The Little Monkeys they know mums love dressing their children beautifully but they also know living cost are high these days so there are often great specials to be had. Right know the store is filled with fabulous winter bargains, priced to sell with discount of 40-50%. The fabulous Agoo Tushie Huggers are the perfect combination of comfortable leggings and a cute skirt/shorts and you can pick them up for just $21 (40% off), 5 styles available. They are an easy, practical and stylish choice for active little girls and boys, protecting the knees of little crawlers and hiding nappies/undies at the same time!

Mums can add a little style to their outfits too with one of the tug proof necklaces available in store. If you’ve had your precious, delicate jewellery broken by little grabby crabby hands you’ll love these beautiful creations. They are made using strong cotton string and the sparkly beads are separated by tight knots. I have been wearing this elegant black crystal necklace (RRP $25) every day since I got mine, it turns an ordinary outfit into something special without any effort!

This super cute Skip Hop back pack would make a perfect buddy for school, kindy or a sleep over at grandma’s. There are four fun animal designs to choose from and all styles are reduced by 40%, so you can pick one up for $19.20 (RRP $32). I can’t decide between the penguin or the monkey, I think they both look great and it is good to know they are PVC/BPA free so they are a safe choice for your child.

To find out more about The Little Monkeys, to browse the bargains in the current winter sale and to place an order online visit www.thelittlemonkeys.com.au. Make sure you ‘like’ the The Little Monkeys Facebook page to keep up to date and profit from their great Mid Week Specials.

For your chance to win a $50 The Little Monkeys gift voucher or a tug proof necklace visit www.thelittlemonkeys.com.au and answer the following question: Which items in store would you buy if you won the $50 gift voucher?

Of course our little lady’s birthday wouldn’t be a birthday without presents, but what to get a one year old who has two older siblings and owns pretty much everything already? Especially since the older two are twins we have multiple walkers and other standard 12-month-old toys. I didn’t really want to waste money on yet another one of them so I felt it would be wiser to pick something smaller, but with lots of features that the twins can enjoy too.

The baby loves pressing buttons (preferably multiple buttons at the same time) and listening to different melodies, the twins love singing songs, learning new things and practising letters. All of these things are combined in the new LeapFrog Lettersaurus. This friendly dinosaur shaped critter is loaded with cool features to keep little minds busy, challenge them, teach them new things and of course make them smile.

This colourful toy has three different modes and I am sure you guessed by the name Lettersaurus that one of them has something to do with the alphabet. The 26 dinosaur spikes represent the 26 letters of the alphabet. By pressing the buttons your child learns to recognise the letters in writing, the way each letter sounds and they will also learn a word that starts with that particular letter. You can even personalise the Lettersaurus so that when your child presses the first letter of his/her name it will say (for example) “J! That’s the first letter of your name!”

However the setting the twins like most is the Music Mode, by pressing any of the 26 buttons kids can hear 26 (!) different tunes and they love guessing which songs they are and singing along. It is a good exercise for me too because sometimes I am a little bit stuck for ideas for which songs to sing with them, I was surprised to see how many songs they actually know! When you press the dinosaur’s head a light will flash and the Alphabet Song plays. The final mode is the colour mode, in which children can push a letter button to hear what colour it is.

The LeapFrog Lettersaurus is clearly designed to last through different ages and stages. The colour mode is nice for the younger ones but the older ones might be less interested once they have tried this setting a few times. By then they will be really keen to practise letter recognition and of course the music mode is a big favourite for all ages. We have been really pleased with the Lettersaurus so far and I can appreciate the more compact size so they can easily carry it around and bring it on trips.

For more information about the LeapFrog Lettersaurus (RRP $34.99, ages 12-36 months) visit www.leapfrog.com.au. LeapFrog toys are available at leading retailers all over Australia, click here to find out where to buy your favourite LeapFrog products.

When I moved to Australia 5 years ago I had to sort through all my things, I could only bring so much on the plane and because of the high shipping costs I only wanted to keep the items that meant a lot to me and carried special memories. One of the things I just couldn’t leave behind was my old ‘klasgenotenboek’ which means as much as ‘class mate book’.

It is looking pretty shabby by now and some pages are about to fall out but I still love having a little read of it every now and then. It is so much fun to look back at what I and my class mates listed as our hobbies, biggest dream and the most hilarious are the answers to the ‘what do you want to be when you grow up’ question (at least I always wanted to be a mum, or a model…). If it wasn’t for this little book I would not remember most of these things (or people) so I was very excited to come across the new book Friendships & Memories.

The Friendships & Memories book is created by mum Paulette Scrivano. When Paulette’s daughters started asking her questions about what her life was like when she was young she realised that there were many things she couldn’t remember. Especially the small facts that made certain memories, people or events so funny or special are easily forgotten over time so she decided to create a great keepsake book for children to record all those things in.

The book is divided in special categories, so that children can write down something about all different aspects of their life. From an ‘About me’ section to family, birthday parties to closest friends, teachers to school camp and much more, the end result will be a heartwarming bunch of memories that can be treasured by children as they grow up and later shared with their own partner and children. Most pages also have dedicated area’s to stick photo’s to really complete the picture.

The Friendships & Memories book gives some extra attention to the final year of primary school, it is such an exciting, busy and important year and it is over before you know it. By writing down little snippets of it children can always look back at the time at primary school and the precious friendships they made in those years. The friends might move away or go to different schools but at least they won’t forget them. You will love the special touches in Friendships & Memories, like the fact that there is room for teachers to describe your child in one word. I would love to read now what my teachers and friends used to think of me at that age!

The 42-page hard cover Friendships & Memories book costs $22 and lasts from prep up to grade 6 (just over $3 per year), a bargain price for such a great keepsake that will be enjoyed for a long time. Postage within Australia is $4.50 for one book (international orders $15), request a quote if you would like to order multiple books.

To find out more about the Friendships & Memories book and to order a copy so that your children can start recording their memories visit www.friendshipmemories.com.

For your chance to win your own copy of Friendships & Memories visit www.friendshipmemories.com and answer the following question: Who was your closest friend in primary school and are you still in touch with him/her?

As some of you may know all of my family lives overseas. At happy times I often wish we lived closer to each other so we could enjoy them together but I will admit that I miss them most when things are not going too well, like when all the kids are sick at the same time or worse, when I am sick myself. What do you do when you are sick? Does your husband stay home for a few days to help you out, or maybe your mother (in law) drops by to help with the kids or drop off a meal? How would your household run if you were temporarily sick or injured?

I was asked these same questions when attending the Kids Business Bloggers Brunch a few weeks ago and realised my illness would be a real strain on my day-to-day family life, and I am not even starting about the financial side of things. Those are the times when a Million Dollar Woman insurance policy could make a world of difference.

Million Dollar Woman is an exciting new insurance company that’s tailored specifically to mums. They recognise what many of us never even think about: if we mums got paid for all the jobs we do in, for and around our household we would earn close to 1 million dollar in 10 years. Think of the time you spend on cooking, cleaning, looking after your children, doing the laundry or groceries, it all adds up and if you fall ill someone will have to do all these big and little jobs for you which can be very costly.

Million Dollar Woman takes a worry of your mind with their Day-to-Day Living Expenses Cover which provides you with a weekly cash payment of $500-$900 for you to spend the way you want it. Don’t let the word insurance scare you off, unlike with regular insurance policies there are no big hoops to jump through: if your own GP can declare that you are unable to fulfil 2 out of the 5 main household tasks (cooking, cleaning, laundry, childcare and shopping) for 14 consecutive days or longer you qualify for the payment. How easy is that? You can even claim multiple times with a total payout of up to $25,000.

The fact that you can spend the weekly payment as you please means that you can hire a cleaner or babysitter, get your groceries delivered at home or pay your own mum for the time and effort she puts in, maybe even pay for travel costs if your help needs to come from interstate. Clearly Million Dollar Woman understands that every family is different so they leave it totally up you how you spend your insurance payout.

How much are you worth? I was surprised to find out I am ‘worth’ nearly a $1800 a week, it made me look at what I do everyday in a totally different light. Knowing that it would cost that much to find a ‘replacement’ for me if I fell ill or got injured did scare me so I can appreciate the peace of mind Million Dollar Woman insurance can give you.

To find out more about Million Dollar Woman, to calculate how much you are ‘worth’ and to get your personal quote in less than 1 minute visit www.milliondollarwoman.com.au. At the moment you could even win one of five iPads by answering a few simple questions about you and your situation.

For your chance to win a 6-month magazine subscription (selected titles), so that you can take a relaxing break from all your hard work every now and then, visit www.milliondollarwoman.com.au and answer the following question: Which of the six Million Dollar Woman insurance products would you consider applying for and why?

To enter leave a comment below, your email address will not be published.

Two days ago my youngest daughter turned one, I suppose I can’t really call her a baby anymore but we still see her as our baby. She loved the balloons and banners but didn’t find the presents very interesting, good news for her siblings who didn’t mind taking care of the unwrapping and playing with the new toys.

Birthdays are a lot of work so it is important to make sure you get some great photo’s to look back at later. I had a quick look at our birthday shots already and although they are far from perfect they show exactly how much fun we had. The birthday girl looked just beautiful in her pink Willy Wagtail Hollie Hood Dress and with the twins also dressed in gorgeous Willy Wagtail wear they made the cutest trio.

Willy Wagtail is an all-Australian company with the complete range designed and made right here in Australia. Willy Wagtail uses Australian Merino wool of the highest quality to create stylish, stunning and super soft clothing and accessories for babies and children up to 5 years old. The designs are timeless and practical with a diverse colour palette.

Some people dress their twins the same but since my twins are a boy and a girl I don’t often get the chance. On Saturday my son was wearing the Harry Hoodie (RRP $49.95) in ocean blue and my daughter was wearing the same style in poppy red, both colours looked amazing on them. This slim fitting style features a hood, press studs, a pocket at the front and there are four different colours to choose from.

For the ‘baby’ one of my favourite picks would be these Foxy Footies. It is hard to find designs like this especially in anything bigger than a newborn size but they are so handy! No more searching for lost socks or worrying about a cold draft entering at the ankles. The soft merino wool is so soft your baby can even wear these pants at night time and thanks to the temperature regulating properties of Merino wool your baby won’t be too cold or too hot. The Foxy Footies (RRP $45) are available in sizes 000-1 and in six great colours.

If you have never tried Willy Wagtail clothing before, or are even completely new to Merino wool, make sure you pick up one or two of the sale items. With prices starting at just $13.95 you can’t go wrong and I know you will love the quality, fitting and softness of the garments as much as I do. You can grab this divine Pippy Pocket Dress (RRP $59.95) for only $30, a saving of 50%! Or how about the Penny Pinafore (RRP $44), an absolute steal with a sale price of $20.

To find out more about Willy Wagtail, to browse the range, to find a stockist near you and to order online visit www.willywagtail.com.au. When you spend $50 in the online store you will receive a free Bertie Beanie (RRP $28, while stock lasts) and if you are a ‘liker’ of the Willy Wagtail Facebook page you don’t even have to pay for postage!

For your chance to win the angel pink Hollie Hood Dress (girls) or the ocean blue Harry Hoodie (boys) visit www.willywagtail.com.au and answer the following question: Which design in store do you like most?

To enter leave a comment below, your email address will not be published. Please also mention if you would like to win the boys or girls prize.
